Lou Costabile Yessir!
My dream car
Happy to read this one is a "dream car" for you :-)
@@loucostabile It has been since I was 10 years old. I'm 51 and it still is my dream car
I loved the original filming locations in Georgia. When they moved the show to L.A., I liked it, but not nearly as much. I just loved how some days were overcast, not like the L.A. version. I also thought that James Best was actually acting back then.

You very rarely see general lees without the vinal top trim along the lower roof line but they pop up in the dukes tv show but again very very rarely

Informative video!
Glad you found it informative. Thank you for commenting, Lou
Lou Costabile Lou was this general lee in an actual episode? I heard it never made it on screen and a crew production member bought it
I understand that this is a real General Lee in the actual episodes. Hope that helps, Lou
Wow the paint on the car looks pristine in the video. I’m really surprised that is supposed to be original and not redone or worked on in some way. At minimum it must have had one heck of a polish and buff done to it if not wet sand as well.
Hi Ben7seven7, Glad you enjoy the paint on this one :-) Thank for you viewing and sharing, Lou
Its been inside All this time not surprised
The first general Lee had a full tan roll cage and the crossed flags on the back and also the interior was much darker witch that could of just been the camera’s from back then and also the paint on the car would not of been real shiny like that they didn’t was the cars to have a glare so the ppl filming wouldn’t been seen on the reflection I feel like this car is either been restored or just simply a replica and there should be Crome going down the car from the windows and the cb antenna is all rowing too

Got any written documentation to prove it's a true car from the TV show the duke's not hard to build a clone
Hi Tiffany, I'm sure Brian does, however clearly it was not added in the video, Lou
What musuem is this?
Hi Lilstrawberry Wolf, www.volocars.com
Lou Costabile tysm!:P
Awesome. I wouldnt of let them sign it there but I understand this is simply a show car but still, inside the door openings would of been much better. Sad to think that the flag could end up being illegal to display in the future if these crazies get their way.

Yeah they should have signed under the trunk lid where it would stay protected. This would annoy the hell out of me it kind of makes the car almost underivable, and theres nothing worse than a garaged showpony.. You cant even really put a layer of clear coat over the area without having to do the whole rear section and roof so you would have to do the whole car... Although the black marker would probably would start to run if the clear coat had paint thinners in it..
can't wait to get a general Lee I'm just going to use it for track and jumping the car is still my favorite charger RT for stunts.
Hi Pacman Frankster
, Hope you're behind the wheel of your General Lee soon :-) Lou
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the first cars have the crossed flags painted just below the rear window?
+Jimmy E. HI Jimmy E. I'm not sure, however maybe a Viewer can comment and share their knowledge. Thanks for viewing, Lou
+Jimmy E. yes it did have cross flags in the back they were checkerd racing flags.
+Jimmy E. I forget what season but if you look real close in one of the scens where they are driving through town there is actually another general lee in the shot.
+Markus Holstein thank you Sir.
+Markus Holstein Yes Sir, I remember that scene where the other General seemed to be parked at a store front if my memory serves me correctly.
shelby Eleanor my love 😍😍😍😍 next charger
Thank you for viewing & sharing.
What movie was that black one in
+Zx9r Are you thinking of Bullitt with Steve McQueen? Lou
The other Charger is Dom's Charger from Fast and Furious
Super Chevy moonrunners
fast and Furies
In the Georgia episodes the General had a checkered racing flag and the Confederate flat cross crossed on the rear deck between the rear window and trunk lid. That begs the question either what happened to them or this isn't an exact original of the Georgia episodes.
Hi Joey D, I have no idea. Hopefully a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou
Dude you're looking at 8 car of the series come on
Theres usually cars for close up shot that were the more decked out cars, and then the cars they used for stunts and then the jump cars. The first season still would have been the same so if this is no. 8 then its unlikely to have been a dressed up car.
Some came with 440s and some came with 318s depending on the scene
wafrederick they used whatever they could find.
Mark Worman of Graveyard Carz mentioned it in an episode of Graveyard Carz.He is one of the good Mopar experts and has one from the movie in his shop being restored.
yes, out of the 17 WB sold in 1991... only one had a 440, and was a true R/T. the others had 383's & 318's and according to some sources.. the majority of Dodge Chargers were green before they were converted into Generals

Wrong style pushbar for GA Lee's, went to wide pushbar in Season 4 NOT 2.
midway through season 4, first time they show up is "Goodbye General Lee" to be exact.

@@bandittweintraub - That is correct.
That is not the original engine to that car. Was probably swapped out in 70s for that motor
Hi Travis, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
Like I have said before. I would kick my mother in the face to drive a general lee. Love the car such a masterpiece
Not sure that's going to get you behind the wheel any sooner....
@@loucostabile 😂 yes I do know that. Hard work and allot of money will get me behind the wheel of one. Ps I wouldnt actually harm my mother ✌
I wonder how long it will be until they are told to paint over the flag incase it offends someone
:-(
Lee 1 had a full roll cage.

Why coulnt u run the engine to blow the horns? Whats up with that? It doesnt even have the original engine in it anyways
Yes, that's a good idea, and would have been fun. Thanks for viewing and sharing,
Lou
The air compressor has to be hooked up.
It had a flag under the rear window didn’t it
It was a small rebel flag and a small finish line flag like this 🏁 crossed over each other
And it had a rebel flag license plate under the front bumper
Thanks for viewing & sharing the details you noticed.
Yup
U guys should really sell the roll bar to Babba Watson for his Lee 1!!
Are you nuts!!!
I hope Bubba Watson gets his Charger repoed. He doesn't deserve that chunk of history
Thanks for viewing and sharing.
Dumb
Note No passenger mirror.
Thank you for sharing what you notice.
Don't need one when in the Air
Its not meant to have a passenger side mirror.
A 360 in a Charger with a missing air filter..
:-(
Poor guy couldnt get his roll bar
:-(
They should sell thet roll bar to the guy with the 1st General Lee. There not true car guys.

If I had that general lee car I wood remove the confederate flag off the roof and put a America flag on top and re name the car general grant because it wood be my car so I can do what I want with it

Perhaps learning how to spell??
And that’s why u don’t own a real General Lee
If you drop that general lee car with the confederate flag on top around my town you wood get a lot of black peoples attention but not in the good way pls nobody really flys the confederate flag anymore

You live in a, racist town wow where I live we drive mine around park at the clubs smoke blunts laugh love and live
Its a rebel flag, on the first episode they don't call it a confederate. And as the rebel flag it represents everything the Duke boys are about.
The confederate flag is very racist know days pls nobody will allow the general lee car at car shows because of the confederate flag on the car
@@scottnichols309 Just create a religion and make the flag the official totem and I think the states would have to allow it.
If the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion can have a stainless steel colander (pasta drainer) as the official headdress and therefore allow people to wear one on their head in their drivers license photo. I cant see how you couldn't have the flag on the roof of a car.
