Life saver and great video. Have a 88 pathy with 250,000 on it and still going strong but needs the tlc. You have a lot of great videos and cant wait to see more. keep them coming.
I watched your video because I did this today and was wondering if anyone has done a video. I've done several before, but never without having to repair the hole on the chassis side first. I use a piece of 4 mm flat steal cut roughly to fit in from the big nut side. Put masking tape over it and draw the worn out hole on it. Cut to fit, drill a new hole, v the piece all around the front parameter. That will help you to weld from the front only where you can grind smooth. Welding the back is not a good idea unless you weld very smooth, otherwise it'll damage your bushes. To remove the compression rod (that's what it's called) loosen the big nut first. It takes a 26 mm socket, then loosen the 2 bolts on the rod. Bolt takes a 19 mm and the nuts 22 mm. Install reverse order. 1st the 2 bolts then the nuts. I don't mean to steal your show. 😊. Just trying to be of help. Thanks for taking the trouble.
Good video, I did the strut rod bushings on my 95 pathfinder almost 2 years ago A lot of cussing and yes, some ingenuity. The cool thing was I also came up with the same alignment tool idea then also just I used a long bolt and fabricated lol. I'm soon to be checking all chassis's components and replacing as needed. Then putting rear shocks on. I went with KYB on the front. Glad to find your videos man, These are great trail rigs IMO. Subscribed, thanks.
Jim Bennett not a problem at all. NPORA has been a major source of information for me when I first got started playing with my Pathfinder. Leading others there to see the same information is the best way I can say thank you while helping others.
I need to know on the on the tension potential for the balance of the tensioner from the alternator to the flywheel I need to know if there's a bearing on there
Those cups are an absolute necessity! Those hold the bushing and rod in place. With out them the rod will move up and down freely and eventually wear through the rod and break.
Alvarez Metal Works Thanks, I wish I had a welder and also knew how to weld. :( I just ordered the bushings to replace them but now I need to figure out how to weld one of those bearing races.
Carl Silva grind the surface clean and flat. Then just weld it on. You don't have to do anything to the hole unless you have some serious damage in that area.
I have a 1993 Pathfinder and I have used the following web site to get genuine Nissan parts, and I've had great luck: www.nissanpartszone.com. They take a little longer to deliver and it's best to order multiple parts at a time to reduce shipping costs, but they are cheaper then the dealers. They will have the 2 bolts that connect the strut rod (part code: 54480A) to the lower control arm, but not the cup pieces that are welded to the frame (the pieces that you replaced with the bearing race). Unless however, you buy that whole frame piece (part code:54706, also named the Tension Rod Bracket), but that would require grinding off the old one and welding the new one back on. Bearing race option is much easier. Still not a good idea to strip your bolts if you can help it. This was a great video and I look forward to many more from you!
Saludos cordiales desde Guatemala
Just got pathfinder yesterday with the same problem, you are the man!!!

Thank you. Glad you found the video helpful. Expect a SAS in my videos over the winter as well as some other pathfinder related videos.

Very nice. This specific problem, that I have right now, would have been hard to diagnose. This video was great. Thank u.
did what i needed it too, the race is what information i was looking for
Excellent video, super well spoken, clear and concise. Thank you.
Jonathan Wall thank you
Great video Alvarez Metal Works. Thanks for the shout out to NPORA from it's founder Jim Bennett. AKA MRJIM

Exactly my issue. 1000 thanks, brilliant video
Great video, but do I have to jack it up or can I do this on the ground?
sold the bushings but never knew how they went in. Thanks for the heads up.
+Leonard Galan Welcome
why are the dish washers opposite of a top shock rubber bushing set up?
The Nissan Pathfinder 99 I need to know whether the tension attention will there be a very cool the berry noodle talk to me
Thanks. You helped me a lot. 🦄 I've got Terrano
Welcome
Saludos Álvarez, he cambiado esos bujes y no logro quitar el ruido cuando el vehículo está en caminos fuera de asfalto. Es un nissan Pathfinder 1995.
Did you add a washer behind the bearing ???
I need to know on the on the tension potential for the balance of the tensioner from the alternator to the flywheel I need to know if there's a bearing on there
Nice video, one question though. One of my cups is missing, is it a must to have one or can I install the bushings without it?
Those cups are an absolute necessity! Those hold the bushing and rod in place. With out them the rod will move up and down freely and eventually wear through the rod and break.

If you're a member on NPORA find out if anyone members are in your are that have a welder. One maybe nice enough to help you out.
Alvarez Metal Works Yeah thanks I'll try looking at some forums. I'm not a member at NPORA but I'll see if I find someone to help me out.
Good luck. It's not that hard of a job for them to weld the cups in place.
Great video !! My D21 thanks you
Big help. Thanks.
Do I need to remove the front tire
also did you have to cut off anything in that hole or just weld the new one on there?
Carl Silva grind the surface clean and flat. Then just weld it on. You don't have to do anything to the hole unless you have some serious damage in that area.
Do you happen to know what size race you used?
No I don't. Go search the NPORA forums. I'm 100% sure you will find it on there.
Enjoyed your video. How does it normally cost to have this replaced by a mechanic?
about 200.00
The washers at each end I think should be turned around not the way you have it. The rubber bush at ends should fit into the cup of the washer.
They way I have it in the video is correct.
como se yama esa piesa que estas cambiando si me podras desir por fabor
You rock, sir!
Have you put your transmission in yet?
Yes and it broke again. going with something different. Stay tuned.
Thanks.. great vid..
Thanks buddy 🤙
Good!!! Thanks.
