Unfortunately these days, almost everyone likes to use TONS of make-up, multiple pumps of foundation and lots and lots of concealer. SO glad you give your honest opinion on everything including the recommended amount of product!
I just don't understand this cover almost half your face with concealer nonsense that is going on now. It is like people don't know what concealer is for. So seeing Wayne's approach is refreshing.

I recently purchased this foundation. I love it! Blends well, lovely finish. I'm 65 and going for a dewy look..no powder! I also switched to cream blush.Huge difference..softens wrinkles.

The Nars light reflecting foundation is everything that I had hoped the Charlotte Tilbury would be, but wasn't. It's very pretty on my over 50, combo skin. I alternate between it and the WG cream foundation as my top two right now!

On the strength of this review I went to the NARS site and used the virtual colour match. Vienna was my best match. I went to Jollies in Bath and found they had one bottle left. It’s lovely and blends beautifully. I am 68 years old and it’s great. It does not settle into fine lines or wrinkles. I had been using Veil which is lovely but this certainly brings a real fresh look to my skin. Thanks Wayne xx
Wayne, a request please. It's nice to see that a foundation applies well and has a lovely initial finished appearance. But most of us wear foundations 10+ hours each day and how these wear is an important factor when choosing foundations (we've all had foundations fall apart within hours). Could you please consider adding "wear tests" when you're doing these reviews?
Angie from 'Hot and Flashy' always does this in her reviews (which are *very* thorough). Highly recommend, if you want to see, how a product actually wears on middle-aged combo skin.

Oh, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Wait until he gets the TWO red ears. But he is good. His "Buffing and Buffing" method years ago gave me the best make-up I had ever had. I'm going to try the blush. I've been looking and looking for something pale and yet pink. Here we go.
If any of you cool-toned shoppers are shopping in stores where sampling is still allowed, swatch your current product(s) on piece of plain white paper, let it dry (if a liquid or cream) and take that paper into the stores with you. It's the only way to truly compare and this method will tell you what's right for you without, or in spite of, variations in lighting, redness from rosacea, and any other quirks of the products themselves.
Subtle subtle. Just up my street, I thoroughly enjoy your approach, so much better than the over-contoured, over-covered, over-highlighted face. For everyday I would likely also go with one pump. Love it. Thank you.
I love seeing Wayne doing foundation applications. It look lovely on his skin. Conversely, I am not sure to use on my skin due to my pregnancy journey with gradual hormonal changing. My skin changes with tonality and fatigue due to physical symptoms related to pregnancy. So it's difficult for us expectant mother-to-be to apply correct foundation and most of us are bared skin
The Nars foundation is fabulous! I use it also as concealer as it is super thin, but highly pigmented and doesn't crease on me at all like traditional concealer formulas do. I mean zero creasing. I pair it with the Nars light Reflecting pressed powder which I have used for about five years. It is super hard pressed so it may look like hard pan straight out of the package but it just needs a good natural hair goat brush (I use either my Rae Morris or Wayne Goss brushes) to pick up the product and it just knocks back the sheen of the foundation as I don't like any shine in the under eye area. It is truly translucent on my brown skin and is virtually invisible. Thanks for sharing.
@@SG-xb7de I use the color that I would use for my face, not a lighter color that I would normally use as concealer. As I get older, I like the look of just having healthy skin, which means not having that super highlighted affect under the eyes anymore. Hope that explains it better. If it’s unclear, ask another question and I’ll see if I could explain it better.

Your blush and highlighters are by far the best ever blush and highlighters I have ever used. I double it as an eyeshadow and use the blush as a transition shade and deepen the far concerns while using the highlight all over the lid. So many people have complimented me and I feel like a magical fairy as the highlighter is incredible. Would you ever make minis? For travel. Thanks

MHM this is my favourite!! For an oily-combo person I can wear a foundation that isn’t just matte! Lasts alllllll day long and really is perfect! Looks so flawless yet not thick like many out there
Agreed! I have oily dehydrated acne prone skin and find when I wear glowy products it actually makes my skin produce less oils throughout the day. The amount of dewy/glowy foundations I've reviewed that work for my oily skin is surprising. I always chuckle when I hear, " if you have oily skin you would hate this," etc so I hear ya! 😊
I found that Nats foundation worked best for me using my hands. After I warmed it up and applied to the skin, it set so beautifully!! There’s something about nars products and using my hands/fingers that always gets me the best finish! They have such beautiful complexion products!

Do you guys remember the Revlon foundation that was “light reflecting” but was just full on glitter? The nightmare…. 😂 I LOVE this foundation. I’m 40 now with some pretty bad spots of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation as well as some texture from cystic acne in my 20s. This product doesn’t settle into every crevice. It gives my skin such a smooth look! I can build it on top of a concealer on my dark spots and it doesn’t look cakey. I’m quite pleased. Also- I use it almost daily for work and am on my 2nd bottle and have noticed an actual improvement in the overall tone of my complexion. Big fan of this foundation.
My cousin has hyper pigmentation and she was thinking about getting laser type treatment for it . I suggested that she mention her skin condition to her doctor . So she did! The doctor said sometimes it can be hormonal . She did a blood test and it was hormonal . Now she’s been referred to a specialist. It might be worth seeing your doctor, if you haven’t already ?
Omg you just reminded me of when I reviewed the (then) new Maybelline 4 in 1 foundation last year. I opened it from the package, and I could visibly SEE the shimmer through the packaging. We want a natural glow, no glitter! No thank you lol

This is my favorite foundation right now. I have Yukon and it is a perfect match for me. I do have dry skin and this isn't really dewy on me but I think the finish is very natural and with just maybe a pump and a half, I get as much coverage as I need. I loved seeing you demonstrate how to apply it and finish the look.

Did you buy the Nars foundation online and just took a lucky guess with the shade match, or did you try it on in a store? I have a million foundations that are sooo close but still look wrong, so I'm looking for any shade-matching tips I can find!
@@JillKnapp I just looked at the swatches on Sephora and made an educated guess. I got Yukon, 2.5 I believe. Fair with pink undertones. I am a "winter", so blue veins, cool skin tone. I hope that helps. The Nars foundation in Yukon is a good match and gives a wonderful blurring finish. I love it.

@@JillKnapp Oh good. I hope you are pleased with it. I have a box full of not-so-great ones that were good enough, but this one is the best of all the ones I have gotten, some cheaper, some more expensive. Luckily, you can always return them for a better color match if necessary.
Also thank you for showing us that little trick with the concealer above the under eye cheekbone area where you did it deb to above the puffness and below the puffiness ‘cause I had that exact same thing and I really did notice a huge difference when you did that thank you

NARS sheer glow mt blanc is one of my go tos for perfect color match. Lately I’ve been hot to trot for the Makeup Forever Reboot as well - and this nars one seems like it would be a similar formula. Excited to try it!
I love Wayne's foundation. I do use morphe setting spray after all my makeup is applied and I have no trouble going 10 to 12 hours. I don't use powder because I have dry skin.
I truly like this foundation on my combo/ oily skin. It looks very natural and flattering on my over 40 skin. On a side note, Wayne when will you have more of your foundation in stock for lighter skin? I didn’t get a chance to pick it up before it sold out. I’m dying to try it!

That's so strange my really dry skin loves the EL Futurist Hydra. I'm always afraid to venture out to new foundations because it works so well for me. Of course everyone is different for sure 😉
The new It cosmetics CC glow is my favorite foundation I've ever found. And NOONE is talking about it. I sweat like crazy all 8 hours and come home with makeup still on my face. I love the Nars, but it's gone in 2 hours

There’s more coverage with a shorter denser brush when you kind of stipple it on. That’s what I do, then I lightly tap my beauty blender over it, & it turns out so lovely!
My issue w/NARS is their lack of cool, pink, rosey undertones- in medium (to med-tan in summer). I literally can’t even make any of their foundations work because I have such a pink undertone & they don’t cater to pink people. It really blows.
Omg, you speak to my soul. I have a fair-light very cool undertone and even I have a hard time finding cools. So many brands either don't carry pink cool undertones in all depths or they say they are cool and are SO orange/yellow or warm. I have quite the collection of cool foundations from doing UA-cam reviews now but many are "I can make it work but it's not cool enough." Did you try Wayne's in #5? Or perhaps it is 6 as I can't remember atm but I use that as a bronzer and it does lean cool. Just a thought. Agreed Nars doesn't catter to cool tones just like Kosas and many others...
The problem I run into myself with wearing non-cool undertones is that there is a difference btwn neutralizing surface redness in targeted areas vs an undertone. If I wear anything but cools I have a "floating head" where it doesn't match my body lol But if you can get it to work that's awesome 😊
@@Linaskye143 I know what you’re trying to say & that can work if you are color correcting because a slightly yellow tone can correct a problematic reddish area or unwanted redness but that’s not what I mean. When you’re dealing with a person’s UNDERTONE, (in my case, a cool undertone), I don’t mean pink or red on the surface of the skin - the undertone is the actual underlying color Within the persons skin. When choosing a foundation, the undertone has to be on point. And you can get away with the shade being slightly off because you can make it work if the undertone is right. But if not, it ruins everything. It’s no different from a person with a warm or golden undertone trying to make a foundation that’s too pink work on them - it just doesn’t lol. It will look VERY unnatural. People have been complaining NARS about this for years & they just don’t care. It’s too bad too because their skipping over an entire genre of skin. I hope this gives you a better idea of the pickle I’m in when it comes to NARS & their shitty shade range.

If I’m being honest, there’s one brand that carries my exact shade match no matter how fair or tan I get in the summer and that is the CoverGirl TruBlend line. Or the covergirl clean makeup line. There’s nobody that does cool undertones the way cover girl does! Not all of their lines, but definitely the 2 mentioned which I’ve been using for far longer than I’d like to admit. It’s funny though, with as far as makeup has come over the yrs, CoverGirl has been doing foundation right for over 30 yrs!
While I'm seeing a dermatologist to fix my skin issues and they have improved I don't think they've improved enough for a light reflecting foundation. But it looks on you Wayne.

Omg, I need that blush, looks so pretty and natural. For all these years I watched influensers & makeup artists use "horrific amounts" of blush and there is me using just a tiny bit and more natural shades, I thought there is something wrong with me.
Ohhh myy god!!! I just got this!! In Oslo it matched my skin to a T! And it makes my dry skin look beautiful!! I’m going to be 47 in a week. My sister is kind of a cheap woman tried to talk me out of it. So glad I didn’t listen. I start with one pump but I have more red in some places of my face forehead and overly pink chin as well, so I use a second pump for other those problem areas. It makes my dry skin look alive not only that it matches my skin tone. I could wax poetic on this foundation! I still use moisturizer underneath but yes a good glow is great under fluorescent lighting!
My skin is oily, and it's not shiny...before or after powdering. I use a light hand...I just want my skin evened out. I use a translucent powder over it. If you buy it in store at Sephora you can always return it.

I like to see you applying product around your eyes with your ring finger. it's the weakest finger and really helps around the delicate eye area. i learned that prob from cosmopolitan magz like over 40 years ago i think.

Unfortunately these days, almost everyone likes to use TONS of make-up, multiple pumps of foundation and lots and lots of concealer. SO glad you give your honest opinion on everything including the recommended amount of product!

I just don't understand this cover almost half your face with concealer nonsense that is going on now. It is like people don't know what concealer is for. So seeing Wayne's approach is refreshing.

I recently purchased this foundation. I love it! Blends well, lovely finish. I'm 65 and going for a dewy look..no powder! I also switched to cream blush.Huge difference..softens wrinkles.

The Nars light reflecting foundation is everything that I had hoped the Charlotte Tilbury would be, but wasn't. It's very pretty on my over 50, combo skin. I alternate between it and the WG cream foundation as my top two right now!

On the strength of this review I went to the NARS site and used the virtual colour match. Vienna was my best match. I went to Jollies in Bath and found they had one bottle left. It’s lovely and blends beautifully. I am 68 years old and it’s great. It does not settle into fine lines or wrinkles. I had been using Veil which is lovely but this certainly brings a real fresh look to my skin. Thanks Wayne xx

Wayne, a request please. It's nice to see that a foundation applies well and has a lovely initial finished appearance. But most of us wear foundations 10+ hours each day and how these wear is an important factor when choosing foundations (we've all had foundations fall apart within hours). Could you please consider adding "wear tests" when you're doing these reviews?

If any of you cool-toned shoppers are shopping in stores where sampling is still allowed, swatch your current product(s) on piece of plain white paper, let it dry (if a liquid or cream) and take that paper into the stores with you. It's the only way to truly compare and this method will tell you what's right for you without, or in spite of, variations in lighting, redness from rosacea, and any other quirks of the products themselves.

When I leave some on my palette, it gets darker over a couple of days. Oxidizing I think? So you’d have to do a new one each time.

I love seeing Wayne doing foundation applications. It look lovely on his skin. Conversely, I am not sure to use on my skin due to my pregnancy journey with gradual hormonal changing. My skin changes with tonality and fatigue due to physical symptoms related to pregnancy. So it's difficult for us expectant mother-to-be to apply correct foundation and most of us are bared skin

The Nars foundation is fabulous! I use it also as concealer as it is super thin, but highly pigmented and doesn't crease on me at all like traditional concealer formulas do. I mean zero creasing. I pair it with the Nars light Reflecting pressed powder which I have used for about five years. It is super hard pressed so it may look like hard pan straight out of the package but it just needs a good natural hair goat brush (I use either my Rae Morris or Wayne Goss brushes) to pick up the product and it just knocks back the sheen of the foundation as I don't like any shine in the under eye area. It is truly translucent on my brown skin and is virtually invisible. Thanks for sharing.

@@SG-xb7de I use the color that I would use for my face, not a lighter color that I would normally use as concealer. As I get older, I like the look of just having healthy skin, which means not having that super highlighted affect under the eyes anymore. Hope that explains it better. If it’s unclear, ask another question and I’ll see if I could explain it better.

Your blush and highlighters are by far the best ever blush and highlighters I have ever used. I double it as an eyeshadow and use the blush as a transition shade and deepen the far concerns while using the highlight all over the lid. MHM this is my favourite!! For an oily-combo person I can wear a foundation that isn’t just matte! Lasts alllllll day long and really is perfect! Looks so flawless yet not thick like many out there

Agreed! I have oily dehydrated acne prone skin and find when I wear glowy products it actually makes my skin produce less oils throughout the day. The amount of dewy/glowy foundations I've reviewed that work for my oily skin is surprising. I always chuckle when I hear, " if you have oily skin you would hate this," etc so I hear ya! 😊

I found that Nats foundation worked best for me using my hands. After I warmed it up and applied to the skin, it set so beautifully!! There’s something about nars products and using my hands/fingers that always gets me the best finish! They have such beautiful complexion products!

Do you guys remember the Revlon foundation that was “light reflecting” but was just full on glitter? The nightmare…. 😂 I LOVE this foundation. I’m 40 now with some pretty bad spots of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation as well as some texture from cystic acne in my 20s. This product doesn’t settle into every crevice. It gives my skin such a smooth look! I can build it on top of a concealer on my dark spots and it doesn’t look cakey. I’m quite pleased. Also- I use it almost daily for work and am on my 2nd bottle and have noticed an actual improvement in the overall tone of my complexion. Big fan of this foundation.

My cousin has hyper pigmentation and she was thinking about getting laser type treatment for it . I suggested that she mention her skin condition to her doctor . So she did! The doctor said sometimes it can be hormonal . She did a blood test and it was hormonal . Now she’s been referred to a specialist. It might be worth seeing your doctor, if you haven’t already ?

Omg you just reminded me of when I reviewed the (then) new Maybelline 4 in 1 foundation last year. I opened it from the package, and I could visibly SEE the shimmer through the packaging. We want a natural glow, no glitter! No thank you lol

I absolutely love this foundation its now my favourite foundation, i have combo skin (oily in the T zone and normal on the rest of my face) and it just looks so beautiful on the skin every time i wear it.

This is my favorite foundation right now. I have Yukon and it is a perfect match for me. I do have dry skin and this isn't really dewy on me but I think the finish is very natural and with just maybe a pump and a half, I get as much coverage as I need. I loved seeing you demonstrate how to apply it and finish the look.

Did you buy the Nars foundation online and just took a lucky guess with the shade match, or did you try it on in a store? I have a million foundations that are sooo close but still look wrong, so I'm looking for any shade-matching tips I can find!
@@JillKnapp I just looked at the swatches on Sephora and made an educated guess. I got Yukon, 2.5 I believe. Fair with pink undertones. I am a "winter", so blue veins, cool skin tone. I hope that helps. The Nars foundation in Yukon is a good match and gives a wonderful blurring finish. I love it.

NARS sheer glow mt blanc is one of my go tos for perfect color match. Lately I’ve been hot to trot for the Makeup Forever Reboot as well - and this nars one seems like it would be a similar formula. Excited to try it!
Personally, I think Sheer Glow is better. I'd try and get a sample first, if I were you.

I'm a Vallauris match too, but I've only used the NARS Sheer Glow (I do like it most days). I'm going to definitely give this one a try!
I love Wayne's foundation. I do use morphe setting spray after all my makeup is applied and I have no trouble going 10 to 12 hours. I don't use powder because I have dry skin.

I fell in love with the Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra last year, but approaching 40 this September with dry, fair skin, things are changing fast and it’s no longer hydrating enough and setting into lines. Been wanting to try NARS foundations for a while! I’m giving this one a go.
That's so strange my really dry skin loves the EL Futurist Hydra. I'm always afraid to venture out to new foundations because it works so well for me. Of course everyone is different for sure 😉

There’s more coverage with a shorter denser brush when you kind of stipple it on. That’s what I do, then I lightly tap my beauty blender over it, & it turns out so lovely!
My issue w/NARS is their lack of cool, pink, rosey undertones- in medium (to med-tan in summer). I literally can’t even make any of their foundations work because I have such a pink undertone & they don’t cater to pink people. It really blows.
I find that a golden or slightly olive-y undertone neutralizes redness but isn’t “yellow”. Try that?
Omg, you speak to my soul. I have a fair-light very cool undertone and even I have a hard time finding cools. So many brands either don't carry pink cool undertones in all depths or they say they are cool and are SO orange/yellow or warm. I have quite the collection of cool foundations from doing UA-cam reviews now but many are "I can make it work but it's not cool enough." Did you try Wayne's in #5? Or perhaps it is 6 as I can't remember atm but I use that as a bronzer and it does lean cool. Just a thought. Agreed Nars doesn't catter to cool tones just like Kosas and many others...
The problem I run into myself with wearing non-cool undertones is that there is a difference btwn neutralizing surface redness in targeted areas vs an undertone. If I wear anything but cools I have a "floating head" where it doesn't match my body lol But if you can get it to work that's awesome 😊
@@Linaskye143 I know what you’re trying to say & that can work if you are color correcting because a slightly yellow tone can correct a problematic reddish area or unwanted redness but that’s not what I mean. When you’re dealing with a person’s UNDERTONE, (in my case, a cool undertone), I don’t mean pink or red on the surface of the skin - the undertone is the actual underlying color Within the persons skin. When choosing a foundation, the undertone has to be on point. And you can get away with the shade being slightly off because you can make it work if the undertone is right. But if not, it ruins everything. It’s no different from a person with a warm or golden undertone trying to make a foundation that’s too pink work on them - it just doesn’t lol. It will look VERY unnatural. People have been complaining NARS about this for years & they just don’t care. It’s too bad too because their skipping over an entire genre of skin.
I hope this gives you a better idea of the pickle I’m in when it comes to NARS & their shitty shade range.
@@DanielleNicoleMakeup haha! My gosh Danielle! You & I are cut from the same cloth! Lol. We even SPEAK similarly when it comes to this lol! You are ON POINT girl! If I’m being honest, there’s one brand that carries my exact shade match no matter how fair or tan I get in the summer and that is the CoverGirl TruBlend line. Or the covergirl clean makeup line. There’s nobody that does cool undertones the way cover girl does! Not all of their lines, but definitely the 2 mentioned which I’ve been using for far longer than I’d like to admit. It’s funny though, with as far as makeup has come over the yrs, CoverGirl has been doing foundation right for over 30 yrs!
as an artist i am SO about DRY BRUSHING so i take a thicker dry brush and push and dab it into pores and such...after putting a foundation on.
While I'm seeing a dermatologist to fix my skin issues and they have improved I don't think they've improved enough for a light reflecting foundation. But it looks on you Wayne.
I have lots of oils and after watching this review I decided to give it a try and it was a game changer for me. To date this is the best foundation for me. It’s not chalky, oily, dry, it’s perfect. Ohhh myy god!!! I just got this!! In Oslo it matched my skin to a T! And it makes my dry skin look beautiful!! I’m going to be 47 in a week. My sister is kind of a cheap woman tried to talk me out of it. So glad I didn’t listen. I start with one pump but I have more red in some places of my face forehead and overly pink chin as well, so I use a second pump for other those problem areas. It makes my dry skin look alive not only that it matches my skin tone. I could wax poetic on this foundation! I still use moisturizer underneath but yes a good glow is great under fluorescent lighting!

My skin is oily, and it's not shiny...before or after powdering. I use a light hand...I just want my skin evened out. I use a translucent powder over it. If you buy it in store at Sephora you can always return it.

I like to see you applying product around your eyes with your ring finger. it's the weakest finger and really helps around the delicate eye area. i learned that prob from cosmopolitan magz like over 40 years ago i think.

Wow...when u applied it,it seemed like nothing was even there. But when u show the side by side and removed half u can see the difference. It is so nice that must be your perfect shade
