    • @Shank5ter
      @Shank5ter 8 місяців тому +12

      Incorrect actually. Edge was already Mr. money in the bank by the time the scandal came out. He very much had a rocket strapped to his back already, the irl heat helped a lot, but to say that this scandal was the reason he broke out as a star is objectively false.

      @@Shank5terBeing the holder of the briefcase doesn't make you a big star in the making. We have plenty of examples from the last few years.

    • @danieljoseph9439
      @danieljoseph9439 8 місяців тому +9

      @AlexYBITW Sorry man, but he was right. Edge already had that rocket strapped to his back and this angle merely made his ascent that much faster. The disappointing thing, was that this was supposed to help Matt break through to the next level as a big star.. but, he dropped the ball.

    • @AlexYBITW
      @AlexYBITW 8 місяців тому +4

      @@danieljoseph9439 Edge had nothing strapped to his back. He even lost the title right after he won it and had to prove himself again that he was worth the main event scene.
      And Matt didn't drop anything, WWE did.

    • @evilstarlegacy
      @evilstarlegacy 7 місяців тому +3

      @AlexYBITW Edge feuded with Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels, including getting a win over HBK at the RR, got paired with Lita, won the MITB, got a WHC title shot against Batista and feuded with Kane before Matt Hardy even came back to WWE. It's disingenuous to claim the Matt Hardy feud is what made him a main eventer. I even remember him telling Matt not make his return at his expensive and that, unlike him, he earned his main event stripes.
      The feud with Matt probably helped boost him further as a monster heel, but he was well on his way there without him.

    It's weird to think this all happened nearly 30 years ago, and everyone has moved on except for fans. It's an interesting study in "celebrity" psychology, because you KNOW that to this day, Edge, Lita, AND Matt all still get shit for this.
    That feud has been dead long enough to buy a beer in the afterlife.
    Yet they probably still get people daily saying how "Lita is a h0e", "Matt is a cuck", "Edge is a homewrecker"-
    When honestly, those three probably couldn't care less, not because anything that was done then was justified, but because that's how aging and life is. You ain't gonna be the same person in five years, nevermind ten or twenty.
    Yet new fans are still seeing all that to this day like it just happen, and old fans can hold grudges because they don't actually know or care about any of these people.

      Yes because I'm sure you've never made a mistake sir. It's the females fault for allowing it to happen. Men are men they're gonna fuck if they can It's in our DNA. It's the females that play the guys against eachother and use the guys to get what they want. Which is what Lita done. She seen Matt was as far up the card as he was going to get and she used edge to move up. She literally slept her way up the card. Which is why I find the way they fired her fitting.

    Literally nothing in wrestling was ever as important to as an Edge and Christian vs Hardy match. Matt has always been my favorite ever, but all 4 of those guys were the literal backbone for nearly a decade.

    At the time it never really crossed my mind that the feud he had with Matt had some legitimacy behind it. I likely just assumed that storyline was entirely something that WWE had cooked up i.e. made up.
    That feud was indeed insane and I absolutely loved it!

    The least copland could have done is let Matt go over in there last match instead you bury him and then he gets let go from the company the only one who got shit on in this was matt hardy

    • @ForeverDegenerate
      @ForeverDegenerate 8 місяців тому +1

      Pretty sure that wasn't his call to make. He doesn't book the matches. He just executes what is booked. Also, let's not forget, despite rehiring Matt, Vince was still punishing him for the very reason he fired Matt in the first place. Matt Hardy was being punished by Vince right up until he left the company.

    Honestly, it seems like if it wasn't Edge, it would had been someone else.
    I think Matt was saved a lot more pain by what happened, when it happened.
    Look at the state of all 3 of them....sad but just how it is.
