I remember times where I was able to text without looking at the screen in the classroom during the class. 20 years later I could easily find it usefull in my everyday life
I think the last minute or so sums it up perfectly. This is not the next essential add on for the iPhone. This is a niche gadget from someone who loves niche gadgets for 1 person in 500. And those costumers are probably going to love it!
Side sliders were way too wide. Like the keyboards weren't ergonomical at all. I had a Galaxy Slide when that was out and it felt way too spread out compared to something like my old Blackberry Curve. Could type WAY faster on the blackberry than that phone. Even the old sideways keyboard phones that were popular like sidekicks were relatively short phones in portrait mode which meant the keyboard wasn't that wide even though they were landscape.
That would be pretty feasible, all they would need to do is add a decent low power DAC into the body, most of them are small enough to fit into a dongle, so why not behind the keyboard?
I’d love something like this, miss the keyboard. I think this case coupled with apple reliability will be as close to a modern BB experience as you can get.
Well, I love Mr Mobile's enthusiasm and I'd love to see the product succeed, but adding a keyboard in this form factor to current phones which are the size of a surfboard? I doubt it will find many customers.
He literally said in the video that they don't intend for every iPhone user to get one. He called it a niche product that they would be happy if only 1 in every 500 iPhone users got and enjoyed.
The point was to manufacture in China and minimize points of failure to cut cost and usefulness. You assign points to app devs, like a trained crow pecking at a tally counter. Winner of most points gets AdSense money.
I have it preordered for the 15 Pro Max and am so excited for it. I love using my phone more than my computer but I hate the keyboard on touch screens. It's fatiguing to just tap on a screen with no physical feedback for any extended amount of time. I love to creatively write but don't want to sit down with my laptop constantly and find myself in the Notes app on my phone more often than anything else but it always ends with my hand feeling exhausted from the fatigue of typing on flat glass. I used to be able to type SO fast on my Blackberry Curve and miss that.
But how bro? You're better off just getting a bluetooth keyboard ffs (mechanical, hot swap keyboards with bluetooth and 2.4ghz are very affordable and insanely good nowadays). Think about it, you're exchanging typing with thumbs on a screen, but also having the convenience of gestures etc etc to type with your thumbs .. only now on a physical keyboard with tons of limitations and tiny, I imagine not very tactile feeling buttons. Just get yourself a nice keyboard. Or buy a note phone, and use the spen to take quick notes (I do that all the time, pull out the pen, write a note on the screen without turning on my phone, put the pen back in and it saves it automatically)
@@3choblast3r4 yes, I would be much better off carrying around a mechanical keyboard so that I can type things up on my phone while standing in line, or walking between classes, or getting coffee… That makes so much sense. You’ve really thought this through, you’re definitely very smart 🙄
@V0idFace nah, using a fully oversized case to type less efficiently than you would on your touchscreen. That does make sense though. Doesn't it? You said "when I don't have or *want* to use my laptop" which implies a different story than walking between classes or whatever
@@3choblast3r4 except it isn’t less efficient, and efficiency isn’t the point besides because we are talking about typing feel and experience. And no, that doesn’t imply a different story at all. I love it, and looking forward to seeing iPhone 13 mini version. Maybe if there is space inside, why not extending battery? Another idea could be adding stand feature, like flipping a stick. Also, adding some features on back would be also nice. A little compass?? 😂 Go with crazy ideas please!!
That won’t happen. Typing this on my iPhone mini, and we are just a loud noisy annoying minority that doesn’t translate to worthy sales. I would rather a slide out keyboard. I already bought the mini and sacrificed my camera experience for the size. Don’t want anything bulging out like that. Thickness I can work with if the feature is good, but a super long phone? Nah, that’s not why I went with a compact phone.
I would ALSO love one for my iPhone 13 mini. Sadly, I feel we are a minority of users and doubt they would bother making a version for us. I would like it to maintain a good magsafe connection so I can keep using my pop-socket wallet as well.
looking forward to the return of xperia x10 mini pro AKA iphone 13 mini with keyboard. Loved the phone, the buttons were workable but on the smaller side.
Looks like a cool idea for certain situations like the streamer or the times it’s hard to see a message thread because half or more of the screen is used for tying. I still think people will still go to larger devices to type anything of length though.
It'll be great if they can make a gamepad for Androids. This will be like a nostalgic accessory for people like us who have grown up with a tactile keyboard
czyli wracamy do fizycznych klawiszy. Jeżeli to przejdzie w przypadku Iphone to inne firmy zgodnie będą się naśmiewały (tak jak było z ładowarkami) a potem samodzielnie będą dokręcać klawiaturki do swoich mega smartfonów :D
Would the company Clicks consider a side by side comparison typing with the accessory and without? Would love to see it in the hands of someone using it for a few days compared to typing on the touch screen of the iPhone.
Michael Fisher has the best looking hairstyle on the Internet!!! I am so excited for this product. I can’t wait for them to release it on the 14 promax. 5:59
It’s a niche product and that’s the power of that product, bring MagSafe behind it and also touch sensitive keys like BB passport keys. Can u also bring a pen for iPhone with pen holder embedded in the keyboard case
This idea brings me back memories of my old Samsung B5330 and Motorola MB632 - Touch screen Android phones with physical keyboard. I loved the layout but these phones was a piece of crap in case of performance. Now with iPhone 15 being one of the fastest on the market we can actually have both ultra fast phone and physical buttons, nice!
works maybe for the mini but for the pro and pro max models would too big, hopefully they come up wtih a slider variat to minimize the length, and actually release it for android.
Back in the day when smartphones with physical keyboard were still a thing (proud owner of HTC Touch Pro here) the Polish letters were solved with clicking two buttons, first the equivalent of alt and then the letter, so very close to how it's solved on computers. Not sure how the DE umlauts were treated
Concerns i have is how durable it will be over long term use, and based on what they’ve said about the minimal effort they needed on the software side, why is this over $100?
I’ve seen people comment “this is a solution looking for a problem” or simply state it’s unnecessary, but they are incorrect. When Apple popularized removing the keyboard and shifting to touchscreen only, the phones couldn’t do half of what they do now. With how powerful they are now, how they are used, and how much they are used throughout the day, having a physical keyboard will make them less frustrating, more comfortable, and more productive. I loved having my droid with a slide out keyboard. I only moved to an iPhone because of a smoother more consistent software experience. I’ve wished for a physical keyboard option ever since.
Right? If you do any sizable amount of typing on your phone, the touchscreen keyboards VERY quickly get old. It's fatiguing to type on a flat glass surface with no landmarks to orient your fingers the way a physical keyboard can. I used to be able to type literally about seventy words a minute on my blackberry curve. I bet I'm barely pushing fifty on an iPhone as it is now and that's an uncomfortable experience.
It's funny how this guy promotes the keyboard and later in this video, he reaches out to his pocket @3:07 and he's rocking an iPhone without a keyboard
The only problem with this is that it is iPhone only. I can only assume that it temporary and eventually they will support some of the more common Android phones.
I wonder if they'll make "Clicks for Android" in the future. You know, something more bulky, but universal. Think of those Chinese telescopic controllers.
Designing and manufacturing it to fit them. It's also a startup. They're going to go with the phone with the biggest marketshare to see how it performs before making it for less common Android phones. They said they do have plans for making it for the popular Android phones as of now though.
