I think it would have been much cooler if they didn't, but it "tricked" mobs into think it was; basically it'd prevent mob spawns in an area around it. You could then have dark builds without a fear of mobs spawning, giving it a unique use-case, and further incentivising people for getting it.

The items found in suspicious blocks are determined once they're generated, meaning it doesn't matter how lucky the player is, they will get the predetermined item.
Edit: since people talk about realism in games, whatever's the case, not being able to pick up suspicious blocks is more fun.
It would be cool if it got changed, but I think it's weird if brushes can have Fortune but not Silk Touch. Before anyone says it, no, it shouldn't pick up suspicious blocks because archaeologists don't pick up soil where things are buried.

@@funnyduck4568 If it's from real life, it should be kinda realistic. For example, frogs are real and so are fireflies, but eating them (and living) isn't real. However, magma cubes aren't real, so whatever.
In archaeology's case, a youtuber called ArchaeoPlays (iirc) said that not being able to pick up suspicious blocks was great because in real life, archaeologists can't, that was also the person that changed "pottery shards" to "pottery sherds" so you can tell this feedback was important to Mojang.
Either way, I don’t care, I like that archaeology is realistic and makes people feel like archaeologists in a dig site, and it would remove a big part of why in-game archaeology is so exciting, but if they changed it, I don't care, I'll still challenge myself, this can't be said for everyone because as a great developer (can't remember their name) once said "Given the chance, players will optimise the fun out of games" (or something along these lines, you can tell my memory isn't working well right now).

Speaking on the redstone tutorial that was mentioned at the end, I think the best way to do it is not by teaching the audience, but rather teaching to somebody specific that doesn't know a lot about redstone (Like a Hermit). This kind of tutorial is both engaging for the audience but also allows for good questions and interactions as well as maybe highlighting easy mistakes that are made from beginners.

@@JakeWolven Well, then you should know that people get inspiration from life. But if you've been watching for that long you would know that he admired Guude quite a bit in the old days, I think that was more because Guude was running a fairly successful server than because of how he played Minecraft though. And Etho talks about his inspiration quite often, like almost every time he builds something he says how he got the idea, and it usually has very little to do with other people. But sometimes he also talks about how he was inspired by something Bdubs or Doc did or something. Point is, most inspiration just comes from looking around and thinking about stuff. Personally, I think the number one thing you need to keep in mind when developing your own style is to not care what anybody thinks, and don't care what other people are doing either. If they're trying to mimic others, like you're kind of doing by trying to tell your students that they should mimic how other people get their inspiration, then they're going to fail because they wouldn't have gone on their own journey and discovered it themselves. Hate to say it, but teaching art is kind of a contradiction. Is it really art anymore if someone taught you how to do it? I know you can teach skill and colour theory and all the different mediums and what not, but you'll never really be able to teach anyone how to turn all that knowledge into art. Unless of course you mean "art" as in mass produced media, but at that point you might as well just teach them how to use AI.

For a lot of programming languages there are koans, small little exercises/wisdoms to get one familiar with the idioms of a programming language. They are not to hard and are just meant to familiarise one with the features of each language. Each one teaches one "thing" and latter koans may teach exceptions or quirks on topics covered by previous koans. So the further you get the more specialized/esoteric the koans become. You could do the same thing for redstone. Small little experiments/challenges that teach only one thing and get more and more in depth the more koans you solve.

I might be wrong about this but I thought that torchflowers couldn’t be fully bone-mealed, just like pumpkins or melons. They have a bit of growing to do still. Hopefully you went back to the flowers and saw that after the recording.
I’m thrilled you finally found yourself some allays. I remember way back during an Among Us friday night that your ghost form looked like an allay so I tend to think of you when I see them. I hope to see you do some fun and creative stuff with them. I really think they’re under-utilized by the whole MC community.
A tip for leading allays without leads, just bring a stack of something and give one to each allay. Then drop an item every few blocks as you’re walking. They will collect the blocks and return them to you. :)

Hey Etho, the chiseled bookshelfs can also be used to filter normal and enchanted books from large item streams.
Like for example piglin bartering, so now you can filter a non stack able item which is quite nice.

Enzo savouring the latest cuisine de la Mojang. The devs must feel as if the iron chef just walked into their humble diner.

24:33 THANK YOU for solving how to collect suspicious blocks! Hope it works for sand too. I'd love to add the texture to use. I wish there was suspicious red sand too though. 😢
27:31 One downside I've been told about sniffers, is they have a memory of where they've sniffed. So you would need to move their enclosure over time to get more seeds. Which would be annoying if you want a sniffer farm. 😵‍💫
And the vine got scrapped, I'd be annoyed if it got scrapped because of the leak.
38:04 Wonder if you regret throwing all those diamonds in lava over the years now? 🤣

Two new wood types are nice, they both are quite unique, love the new bookshelves, but my favourite feature is also the new rewritten lighting engine. As a programmer I know how much time and effort goes into technical, optimalization stuff like this, and imagine making it work for all the platforms, must have been a huge task. Probably that's why we waited the whole year for the update to come out. I'm so glad Mojang did this major performance improvement. It's also going to make the developer expierence way better. Maybe colored lighting will be possible to implement now, who knows.
