    Pulled mine apart for a basic grease up, used your video to help figure out how to take the baitrunner flip off, fantastic resource thanks for your effort. I did run into a problem however, I didn’t take anything apart just the side plate, applied grease, then reassembled, now it catches, feels like something it catching or snagging on the wind, surprising as I didn’t fiddle with any gears or components, any suggestions mate?

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching, Cameron! Two possibilities:
      1) the gear may be inserted incorrectly..... find the section of the video that's shows how to reinstall it.
      2) there could be more lateral pressure applied to the drive gear..... try a couple things:
      a) manually remove the side cover and left side bearing.... forcefully insert it into the side plate and try again.
      b) if the problem persists, try playing with the number of shims on the main gear until you get the feel right.
      Start with step one first..... very important.

    Hello -
    I have a Shimano Baitrunner 4000D. The issue I have is when the drag is pretty loose and you jerk on the line the drag knob will turn about a 1/2 turn and will tighten the drag. After a few jerks, the drag will get fairly tight and the drag knob will stop turning when jerking. Could this be a bad drag knob? The reel has done this since it was new 6 months ago right out of the box.
    Thanks in advance - Brandon

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  2 місяці тому

      Hey Brandon. Hmmm.... if it's been happening since new, I would check the drag stack.... make sure you have one of the keyed (not eared) washers at the top of the stack. Drag stack is correct?.... try using a new drag knob. You could also try lubricating the rubber a little to see if that helps. Barry

    What alternative there is for grease bucause I cannot find a reel grease!what did you used to lubricate drag washers?and last but not least how do you lubricate the antireverse body...if you lubricate at all. good tutorial...subscribed!

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and subscribing! You can use marine grease like quicksilver or Yamaha. I used Cals drag grease for the washers. You shouldn't oil those a/r bearings... keep them dry for the best results.

      See my response to your other question on the a/r. I'd prefer not to use that grease on the drag washers, but it should be okay. Check them every 5 or so outings to see how they're doing.

    Hi there,
    I call my self Your Reel Doctor and been offering for the last 10 yrs, a reel servicing service here in Zimbabwe.
    Currently I have 10 Shimano 4000D Baitrunner reels all with the same problem and hoping that you might be able to advise me accordingly.
    All these reels need to have their Baitrunner Click (RD 13540) replaced but have a Push Nut (RD 5866) that needs to be removed, how if at possible, without damaging the post.
    Please advise the best way possible.
    Look forward to hearing from you.
    Eelco Walraven

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for checking out the video, Eelco. It should be a pretty straightforward lift... if you have tweezers like the one you see me use all the time, I would wedge the two ends of it under the push nut and gently rock the push nut up (leverage), covering it from above so it doesn't go shooting off somewhere. You can also work a screwdriver around it to achieve the same result. For both, just make sure the force you applying is in the same direction as the post (up and down..... no side to side action).
      After you replace the click tongue/spring, simply push the push nut back down over it.
      Hope this helps.

      @@TSGReelService Hi there, I tried as you suggested but had to try and and use my thinnest screw driver just to get it started and worked my way around as gently as possible only to snap the post off with the nut in place 😢. I have another 9 reels with the same issue to be done but now am nervous. my plan to sort this is to drill a 2mm hole half to 1 mm deep and set the post in here with some super glue. If you have a chance, could you try a video clip that i could watch so that I avoid breaking another. 🙏

      @@TSGReelService Hi Barry, not having much luck in regards to that Press nut, because its such a tight fit that there is no room to get the tweezer under so I
      used my thinnest screw driver under the press nut and without much force and broke off the little post. Re drilled a small pilot hole and re glued it back in place. Any chance of sharing contact details to be able to make coms with you and pics. These press nuts look like the they are of tamper proof design.
