    Thanks a lot for the video! I was fishing off the rocks for sharks this weekend and set my rod down in between a gap like I usually do. I turned around for a minute or so and when I looked up my rod was gone. Took my Talica 16ii and Shimano Terez XH with him. I was bummed out because it was my fathers rod that I had gifted him. Anyway about an hour passes and I’m fishing near the area and I managed to hook onto the braid. So I slowly brought the rod and reel back onto land. Glad I found your video I knew that one hour fully submerged under salt water was going to be horrible for it. Cheers from Orange County, CA.

    Long overdue! Thank for taking the time to make this tutorial. Probably 5 years ago I started servicing my reels myself and was able to find videos for my Lexa's, Trinidad's, and Avet's. My Talica's I've always just kind of winged it. This video helped me understand my Talica's in greater detail. Shimano service dept. is back to no drop offs after being open all summer. I'm not real crazy about shipping them in, and back to me to sit on my door step.

      Thanks for watching! More than that .... he's a really nice guy! Thanks for the tip.... I'll check it out ... would be a lot cleaner than using grease.... although I do also use Corrosion X or Inox for the same application.... it's always a bit of a balancing act with the screws .... gotta plan for customers not being on schedule with their servicing, and the amount of vibration (and potential loosening of the screws) a reel will endure before they come back in for service. Stay tuned for more vids!

      You're welcome and thanks for watching, George. Happy to hear it was easy to follow along. Will do, whenever one comes into the shop and I have time to record the service, but both reels are pretty much the same, when it comes to the lever you're referring to. Yes, it can be tricky, but I think if you carefully watch from about minute 50:00 on (ideally, you should watch the video in its entirety), you'll get a good understanding of everything that needs to happen for the lever to be reinserted correctly.... just remember, it needs to 'drop' into the section near the freespool detent. Barry P. S. - the metal piece at minute 55:50 (part 1705 on your schematic) needs to be rotated until drops into place in the lever.

      Penn - gears, Cal's - drag. Cal's has a higher breakdown temperature.... you can also use it on all parts of the reel if you want.

    Hi bud. Great video. I followed it to service my Talica 20 and I’m having an issue with the drag. To clarify, I didn’t take the drag system apart. For some reason, my lever drag is not putting enough drag on the spool and if I tighten the drag nut more, the spool doesn’t spin freely. You mention on your video that the spool shaft and the piece that goes inside the lever drag need to be even. Mine are not and I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve taken it apart multiple times and it all looks fine. The reel worked just fine before so it has to be something I did wrong. Do you have any pointers?
    Thank you!

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching! The squared off metal piece on the pinion gear needs to sit flush inside the squared off part on the black drag cover. If you did it correctly, the right side plate will sit properly and shaft will be out the appropriate distance.
      See sections at 26:00, min 28:00 and 51:40 for references and explanations. If you're still having difficulty, you'll need to consult your local repair shop.
      Hope this helps.

    • @mochosla

      @@TSGReelService so, it now sits flush and it works fine. However, I ended up with a thin metal ring I had originally put inside the piece that goes in the lever drag (the one with the notches to catch the drag pins). I can’t figure out where in the reel it goes. Looking at the schematics, it seems to go on the lever drag system but I can’t fit it anywhere else 🤦🏽‍♂️. Thank you for the reply!
