Helmet cams actually convey the speed and aggressiveness rally embodies. You don’t see it at all with the on board cams they use now. I don’t think the WRC realizes how much of a hindrance the current cams are to the popularity and respect of this sport.
Yes. Especially since they sit lower down to keep the CG low, their visibility is relatively poor. I get Car sick reading on the highway, Co drivers are made out of something just as special as the drivers.
Mad respect for rally drivers, but rally co-drivers are on an entirely different level of courageousness. Strapped in a high speed carbon fiber box made mostly out of plastic with your life in the hands of a professional maniac, while being a mathmetician, CEO, and their dad all at the same time - that's a whole other level of super-humanness. ❤🙏

I know this type of lens (rectilinear) makes everything look faster but please 🙏 next time use a fisheye lens. That way, things in the distance won't look so tiny.
I always wonder how the co drivers are able to reliably read their pace notes while flying across these tracks. Even on a perfectly smooth Autobahn, I can't read stuff without feeling nauseous! 🤪

Do they always start in second gear or just on typical road surfaces ?
Mostly on low grip surfaces. With the hybrid it's even more wasteful to redline in first gear; they have tons of torque.

on looser surfaces(snow,gravel) they always start in 2nd as they would spin wheels too much and lose time launching it in 1st.

Too much power with the hybrid boost, so 2nd gear is good enough
Also, their gears are different to those in a normal car, so second is lower the normal second

Not everyone can do it, many people do get nauseous when they have to look down in the car. But some people don't mind it.
I asked my uncle about this, he says with the adrenaline you don't have time to think about it heheh
