I'm almost embarrassed of how many tutorials I've watched through to the end, that ended up being garbage. I learned more from you in this first video then I did from scores of other tutorials. I think your format is really great, I think the pace is really great, I think the length is really great. Keep up the good work!
That's nice of you. Awesome, I hope you continue strong and make good music.
Bradley I subscribe each single word, each single letter of what you say. This is the best Ableton tutorial I ever found.
Thanks Bradley, I am glad you said this, currently doing the same thing, this will save me loads of time "surfing" for knowledge
!!
@@HattoriHanzo62 I totally agree 100 percent
Yes, this is by far one of the greatest tutorials to get up and running easily and really quick.
Feels like Wolfgang Puck is teaching me how to use Ableton.
I second Bradley's comment below. I learned more in 20 mins than in all the other videos so far. Thanks for your calm, unhurried approach and for not trying to cram too much into a single video. Please continue with the series for Ableton Live 11. Just excellent.
ditto, learned more in 20 mins than in all the other ableton tutorials i've watched put together
Sir you have the best and most german accent i have ever heard ! I love the tutorial very very begginer friendly
😂 Haha, Thank you, as long as II sound different then Arnold Schwarzenegger (also from Austria)
As a 47 year old junglist (ALL of my friends have long grown out of the genre, or even music in general) who hasn’t touched a DAW since Reason 2.5 but love DnB as much now as I did when I was a raver in my 20s, videos like this take the stress level of getting back into it from head butting the stud in the wall repeatedly to a, “Okay, this is frustrating but I got this” level. You may not be saving lives, but you’re definitely helping an already receding hairline.
As a beginner i wanted to thank you for your tutorial.
Please continue with this great series for Ableton Live 11!
All these hour+ long tutorials made it feel too daunting to start with Ableton. Thank you so much for this!!
Yep, best intro guide, Ableton should be buying this guy out to include with software😎
I am just a beginner and interested in this Ableton Live 11. I also watched several tutorials but this one I find so much easy to follow and understand much better than others. Thank you for your professional tutorials directly aimed at the beginners. Danke
Ugh what an absolutely beautiful program. So easy on the eyes.
Not like reaper ...ughh
I am from Sri Lanka. Today I started watching Sir's Abelton Live 11 Tutorials for the first time. You teach me very well .. From today I am your student .. Do new things in the future sir ... Thank you very much 🎵
Thanks so much you've shown me more of what I didn't know Ableton could do as far as basic features. That was under 20 minutes. I love the patience you have while teaching. I'll be watching more videos from you. I truly appreciate you.
This is the best tutorial I have found so far…should be part of ableton as a resource pack!
You've got a great voice for this
I totally agree with Bradley on this! This tutorial is hands down the best, most clear, step by step & straight to the point tutorial of of Ableton Live!
Thank you for that! I was lucky to have found it fairly quickly!
One of the best instructors on UA-cam, delighted I found this site.
Okay I have to say, that I have watched most likely all the Ableton tutorials available on UA-cam and was still completely lost as to how to get started. This video is genius, thank you for such great, step-by-step explanations. This really is brilliant and I can't wait to watch the rest :) Thank you!
This is a great tutorial for beginners, easy to understand and it's fun to follow you, Thank you!
This has to be the best "First Tutorial" video on youtube for Ableton. Thank you so much.
I'm only at 22 seconds and ive got to say, you've got the most Beeeeeeeeautiful desk.
This is terrific for a beginner to Ableton...thank you, thank you...I understood every step and was able to create my first drum track immediately after watching the video.
Day one of switching from Logic Pro X to Ableton, great video! THANK YOU!
This is the best tutorial for beginners. I so appreciate you going step by step and not skipping the “simple” things! Thank you!
Excellent tutorial - I like how simple you kept it and explained each step. You didn't move over anything important. I'd like to see more but on topics such as automation and side chains etc
Thank you very much for making it easy for me. You are a great person, and I will always be grateful. I thank my God for sending me to you.
Thank you 🙏
Thank God I found this UA-cam channel. You're an excellent teacher Sir and I really like your videos. This is one of the most underrated UA-cam channel out there. This channel deserves most subs and views. You just got a new subscriber. Keep up the good work👍
Thanks a million!!! I have no idea what i'm doing but i could actually follow this tutorial. Going to binge watch your videos on Ableton live 11!
A very well scripted and edited lesson!
This exactly what I'e needed to get started! Making my own drum rack never made sense before
I am as new as new can be to music production. A ton of articles recommended Ableton. The downside to getting in at this late stage is the software is super advanced. This video was a tremendous help! I just followed along and now I think I have a solid footing to get started. Thanks!
Thanks, I am absolutely new to Ableton, but an experienced Cubase and Pro Tools user. I have previously been put off Ableton by poor and confusing tutorials, however, this was excellent, I followed along with no issues, and fully understood what I was doing and achieving. A first for me using Ableton. Now to move onto lesson 2 and forward.
i just started abelton with your tutorials, thank you so much
Awesome tutorial. From nothing to something very quickly. No more hopeless random clicking around ableton. The best tutorial I've seen on UA-cam thus far
Totally new to Ableton, I was taught exclusively in Pro Tools and have only dabbled a bit on my own in Logic (PT is not the most practical for composing electronic or otherwise MIDI-centric stuff). Just got on the Live 11 3 month trial, thank you so much for this! You explained all the basics in a really clear and direct way, and I'm finding the UI and transport very easy to navigate. Great stuff! Look forward to following along with the rest of the series.
This is what I want the way you teaching is awesome, first time I'm watching the video i fallow you 🙏
Fully agreed with what Bradley already below said about! I think same after passing tons of largely confusive videos on these matters even from origin and greatly advertised Ableton schools masters...
Happily I have found Thomas here, he seems to me as the smartest and comprehensively skilled teacher so far...
All his courses are the only really practically useful ones, plenty of interesting and valuable information, always focusing to what does it matters ! Coursely liked and subscribed for more with many thanks for this unique best Ableton support!
very clear explanation thank you
You make the best tutorials ever!
Much more in depth than most tutorials 👏🏻
Yes Thomas, yoy are the first one that understands how I learn things. Thanks, I was getting very frustrated but you made me enthusiastic again.
Having been a Logic Pro user for the last fifteen years or so, I'm going back to Ableton. Learned how to use it back in 2012-2014 when studying for a Foundation Degree in Music Production. Entirely unique in terms of workflow, when compared to Logic and Pro Tools.
WONDERFUL tutorial video. Thank you for going to the trouble to create and upload this.
You speak English so well and more eloquently than some English people!!!
Oh, I'm English and reasonably eloquent.
Thank you.
Thank you so much! The first useful video for absolute beginners!
Thank you for the great tutorial. Today I have looked many videos and I found only your one is helpful for a beginner. Please make such great videos.
WoW! This is the best Ableton 11 tutorial for beginners that I found after a whole evening spent on UA-cam and the Ableton website. It's clear, concise, and comprehensive. Like others mentioned below, I learned more in 19 minutes with you than I did after hours with others. Besten Dank!
appreciate the tutorial its easy to come back and watch again and super easy to follow thanks!
Man, this was, by far the best tutorial I have come across. I just nailed that with you on my other screen. Thanks. On to part two.
Excellent video, thank you. Totally new to DAW. It took me a long time to work out why my screen was different to yours. I didn't realise that the lower part was 'Piano View' and had to then google how to open it - double click midi clip.
You're awesome. 2 weeks ago I didn't know what DAW, Ableton, or FL Studio was. Today I created my 1st tune and celebrated. Long way to go but I'm all in. Giving myself a year to master the software, hardware, and jargon for creating music.
This is most clear and knowledgeable tutorial I've seen. KUDOS FROM PHILIPPINES!
Thank you this video is so well done. I'm excited to watch the rest of the playlist. I have a feeling i'll be liking every video(:
And I thought that it was just me... Lol.. Thanks TF. Good deal here
This is a great 1st tutorial on the still relatively new software Ableton Live 11, you will find no better.
This is a great tutorial for beginners, thank you sir for making my first day so cool as an ableton beginner
Coming from GarageBand/logic, Ableton was a wall of confusion. This was soo helpful. Liked and subbed, thanks man.
Without a doubt the best tutorials on UA-cam.👍👌
Loving this totally terrific tutorial and Teutonic teacher
Easy and straight forward learing as you go :)
This is where others go wrong with explaining every button for 12 hours before actually starting to make music.
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent video bro! Much info and very easy to follow. I'm usually bored to tears in the first 3 minutes. Thank you so much.
exactly the video I was looking for!!!!! thank you so much
Thank you so much, it’s one of the best beginners tutorial I have seen uptill now. Keep it up :)
just picked up the demo, and i was completely overwhelmed :) but this video did an awesome job getting me started, and hyped for more
Very clear and focused - grazie mille
I learned a lot today. Thanks a lot for sharing !
Excellent video. Thank you Thomas.
thank you so much for your video. you have successfully taught me how to make my first track using Ableton live 11. it will be the first DAW i've ever worked with and struggled from other tutorials to fully understand these basics. thanks again!
Nice guid. Please continue.
Good intro, like the mix of info with shortcuts
As someone needing a refresher on Ableton this was the one for me Thanks !!
Well made beginner tutorial!
Thank you so much for this amazingly clear intro to Ableton Live. This is an eye-opener. Vielen Dank!
Thank you so much for this. I've watched too many tutorials on Ableton for beginners. Yours is the first that truly makes sense to me and has inspired me to get started creating.
Right on Thomas, Thank you so much. I thought I'd check your video since it appeared while browsing for other things. I had given up and put away my enthusiasm leaning in Ableton 10. The way you teach is right on for me to start over again. I hope there isn't very much difference between 10 and 11.
Three piano roll has changed alittle bit, the rest are add ons
This tutorial helped me compose my first personal ringtone while learning some beginner tricks in Live.
I thank you a lot!
This is really good!!!!!! I am complete new and after watching so many tutorials i almost gave up.....until i came here. It is not going too fast and has the principle that a newbie is actually new and needs to start from scratch in a understandable way. Keep up the good work and keep posting plz. I am a fan of this.
Thank you for these tutorials
I have to say I agree with Bradley below, thank you so much for this video Mr Foster, this was more helpful and practical than any of the other hours of videos I have been watching to get started with Ableton, thank you so much!
this is super helpful and so much better than the other tutorials out there. Awesome vid!!!
That's actually an awesome way of teaching
I recently bought a midi keyboard so I could start recording my ideas more solidly. I had no experience whatsoever and it was daunting to see some really long tutorials for Ableton. This video was great! I love how you explain a little of everything from Ableton to even music theory and production, and how you teach how to do things manually and then with shortcuts as well as opening up menus. There are so many options in Ableton it can get kinda scary when you have no previous knowledge. Thanks a lot! I'll definitely keep watching your videos and subscribe!
Best tutorial video ever!!
Danke bro! Every tutorial is some smart German dude lol
Thanks man this was a perfect video to get me started
Thank you Thomas! As a complete noob to Ableton, and a very rusty musician to boot, I found your videos to be just what the doctor ordered! Very clear & understandable, well explained. I hope you'll keep on producing these fantastic tutorials!
Your tutorials are great Thomas. Thank you!
Thanks Thomas, I found this incredibly helpful :)
Thank you for this tutorial. I'm brand new to Ableton and this video is exactly what I needed to get myself grounded. Danke Schoen!

You're amazing! This is so helpful and easy to follow. Thank you!
Just started on Ableton 11 and Thomas Foster sounds like another youtuber HAINBACH which I can't get it out of my mind xD Both make music and are interesting!
im currently on protools and would like to get into Ableton -- this is such a fantastic tutorial for an absolute beginner!! it also didn't feel like 20 mins, really pleasant, thoroughly enjoyed the whole video. thank u for sharing!! can't wait to watch more!
This was very easy to understand 👍
Hey! i learned something here : )
Thank you man! This actually helped not like the other tutorial i just saw, the tutorial was so fast and it wasnt in detail just like you, he was rushing, and you talked about more stuff, really thank you i made my first beat you could say with that but there is a still long journey, thanks for now
Fantastic!!! Great instruction video.
