    Porsche 944 Hatch Delamination Repair | Does This Stuff Work?
    Today I try to repair a leaking rear hatch glass on my Porsche 944. Does Liquid Nails Fuze*It work? How to stop a Porsche 944 leaking rear hatch without removing the entire glass. It may only be temporary, it may prove to be permanent. Only time will tell!

    15 months and still holding strong. I believe the key was to finish the delamination and cleaning out the old gunk as best as possible.

      Hey man !!! When you say finishing the delaminating , you mean you took the glass out of the hinge frame ?? If so how did you get it out ?? 😀😀😀🚘🚘🚘🍺🍺🍺

      @Tremonte  2 роки тому

      @@artmchugh5644 Mine was in such bad shape, I gently pried up on the glass as I ran a razor knife through the crack. It popped loose fairly easy since it was warm out. From there, it was a lot of scraping the gunk out.

    Thanks for attempting this fix! Sooner or later, all us 924/944/968 owners will have to deal with it!

    A wonderful, practical, and underrated sports car. The base model was the easiest and most economical to work on and enjoy (except the clutch). I miss my 85.5 but I don't regret the new Ninja 650!

      This one is an 85/1. It's a fairly straight forward car to work on, nothing tricky except the clutch as you mention. Separating the transaxle and torque tube isn't something I look forward to. I love my Boxster, but this car takes me back to being a kid and watching all the great movies of the 80's. Now if I can find a nice 928 I'll be set!

    Great video and thanks for the detailed tips
    My 87 944 (also Guards Red) is not leaking yet but the delamination has started a little bit. I will be looking for this product in black to keep the black on red look of my car. By the way, I found an awesome 3M black stone guard kit to replace the original clear ones that yellowed and cracked.

    Great video! I loved the shade-tree mechanics with the 1X4 and the clamps. Your struts sound like Muttley's laugh. I wonder who's old enough to remember Wacky Races?

    Tremonte, glad that your back. I've got a 2018 Z650 & i find the throttle snatchy in 1st & 2nd gear. Is this normal & can this be fixed. And the vibration is a lot around 4000-6000 rpm.

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  3 роки тому +1

      Everyone has a differnt level of feel for the vibrations that are normal to the parallel twin engines, so it's hard to say if what you feel is normal, or something else. The snatchy 1 and 2nd gear is due to the emission regulations that cuts the injector dwell times to reduce emissions. This can be fixed with a fuel controller that has an "engine braking" adjustment feature.

    Very nice repair. Thank you for sharing. I heard you say something about lubing your struts. I do not know if you purchased the gas struts that are installed. If not, trying getting a new set. I heard some glasses lifted after using struts that are too strong. New subscriber! Take care.

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  3 роки тому

      These are fairly new struts, but were put on by the PO. They aren't that strong as they barely lift the hatch. I had to disassemble and remount them recently as they had been installed backwards. No defroster or cargo light function.

    Is this repair still holding? I've heard many accounts of this repair that seemed to work out initially, but delaminated again within a few years at most-many in a month or so.

      So far it's still holding up.

    I’ve got an ‘86 944 with 27k miles. I resolved to simply never open the hatch. That’s my solution.
