This song hits home so much harder at 36 than it did at 13.
This song's timeless for me.
36 yrs old reading this comment. Could not be further from the truth
Facts… 1986 here
Fuckin' A brother.
It just as hard back then
RIP Jon Wysocki 😢
I know it's a hard pill to swallow sometimes but we're still here . Thank you for not giving up. Tearfully writing this message to you all
this song closed the deal for me back in the day. What an album. Whole album
Agreed! What an album from start to fucking finish and then just letting it sit after the last track to hear pots and pans clinking around and then the most hauntingly beautiful little known track of that era. What a mind fuck that album is
@@hellspawn328 Totally man. Dark moody song at the end. Perfect closer. People would complain about all the depressing lyrics. But thats what I needed to hear a the time. It actually made me feel better. What a talented song writer. Ill always have much respect for Staind because of Dysfunction album. No matter what.
@@jayybirdberg6545 agreed, i had break the cycle and felt like i had to know and understand what bore this. Boy was i glad i picked this up. And that song at the end, funeral is it? Very sad song but as you said it was what i needed at the time. All that pain that folks like us went through made us stronger ( at least i hope so ). Its the pain that makes us strong
@@hellspawn328 Agree. Deep. Dark. Personal lyrics. High range vocals w/ screams. Along with D tuned heavy guitar riffs. 2000's gold. Staind may have been more influential than people think. Much respect. Yes. Better for it. Peace brotha
Hellz yeah
Music like this gets you through some dark days
Dark years man not days
Dark age
Very True
Still getting me through
This song hits home. Not just the lyrics. The entire ALBUM IS FLAWLESS.
Beginning to end, every song is GREAT, with No skipping
Every song,every album, literally.
Every one of his songs is epic.
For my money, Confessions of the Fallen is their best album. Home is the highlight of Dystunction for me though. I feel Staind are at their best when writing powerful post-grunge/alt metal instead of leaning into nu metal
Agreed
I was living right across the street when they were filiming this video. I had the whole band Staind and Fred Durst sign my guitar. Fred Durst was there cause he was the director.
Very fking cool
NuMetal is the greatest 🤘🏾
lucky you
Where was it filmed?
Which hotel was it ? I live in Santa Clarita but am usually in Pacoima often
I can’t believe this song is over 20 years old. I really connected to this song in 2002 when stationed overseas without my wife and son. I was so fearful of them moving on without me.
😢🫂
Thank you for your sacrifice
what a killer fuckin' album front to back.
That last "afraid you'll leave me when I'm gone" makes me start crying every fucking time 😢😢
I use to cry to this song a lot as a 13 year old. If you can feel the music you can also feel there pain and message is very clear.
This song really gets to me and probably others like me because I have abandonment issues. I was married 10 years and my wife called it quits. I had a breakdown and was forced out of the home I worked so hard to get for my family. In the process was given a No contact order with my kids. I ended up living in a hotel when this song happened to play on the radio and it broke me down there cause he's someone who gets it.
Same with me been together 10 years. Madly inlove and one day he falls out of love and ignores me and acts like I don't exist. Never been more depressed and alone in my life. 😢
+Amanda LeRoy that's horrible. sorry to hear. I too was at the end of an ex of 6 years when this song came out. song really hits the heart hard
+Amanda LeRoy I know how you feel... Your not alone, after 12 years and still being madly in love my daughter's mother left me and I never expected it once! The depression and loneliness is killing me
Got you guys, been passing through similar situation with a 3 year relationship. Ye is a trauma, one moment you think is going to last forever and then... just ends. What can I say, I feel you.
DUDE CHARLIE : oh my god, seriously? good listening skills. buddy. are you dead yet? you make a shitty cop. no offense, you coulda gave me a hug...
One of their most underrated songs IMO. We all know Outside, we all know It's Been Awhile.
I think this is one of their better works.
The last two lines of this song make me feel something more than words can describe
Rest in peace Jon Wysocki😢 you were great.
If there was ever a band that could get you through the lockdown! Beer raised towards Staind and every fan!!! WE ARE NOT ALONE!
Absolutely Staind and Alice In Chains on repeat 🔂 🔥
Staind got me through so much depression when I was a teen!
Same!!
@Ryandal Gilmore me 🧏♂️
Your depression ended? Your so lucky. My life feels like a never ending pit of loneliness
Take care man
R.I.P. John Wysocki......
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This song and the song "Me" are the reason im still alive today. Thank you Staind.
same
Agreed
I'm happy you are still here.
Bro you couldn't be more right and the song me is my life word for word
Check out the whole album "Dysfunction"...if you like what you hear, Staind did an album before that, most people do not know about it even today because it was self-published and never re-released on a label, and they only redid one of the songs on the record, but it's on UA-cam, and the cd is really rare...only 400 copies were printed in 1996. The album is called Tormented. It's my favourite staind album EVER.
still listening 2019 ...
ALWAYS!!
Aaron deserted us all !!!!
@@jasonsaeli75 he did I heard he's making country music now?..
Will always listen
I'am
Nothing like this generation of rock everything about it has a certain feeling and sound it needs to come back
Mike ShallowSun it takes blood sweat and tears...but in this case...more pain than any of my generation could feel and I'm just 22
zach nai I'm actually only 22 as well I understand what you mean I really think a lot of our generation has gone blind. And forgot what good music is!
Mike ShallowSun I feel you brother, some people just don't know. Take a look at some of my videos I posted.
You'll see I definitely am far from (our) generation.
And it does take a lot of pain...
Amen to that
Tru the 1st time I noticed this band was this video. In my opinion it's their best piece of work!
One of the best Staind songs out there.

If you've ever been cheated on or left behind, this song hurts a little bit more
Rest in Peace Jon Wysocki
Soundtrack of my childhood was listening to Many good songs by Staind
Jon Wysocki on Drums, Johnny April on bass, Aaron Lewis Lead , Mike Mushock Guitar
All 4 of these guys made music great
I’m currently a 16 with extreme depression and the first time I heard this song was when I was crying at my friends house because my mom kicked me out, so it hits hard. now I feel like I’m attached to this shit. “I’m afraid to come back home”
I hope you are okay.
Hope you are doing well. Back then, the internet was unheard of for me so I was truly alone without my step siblings for most part of childhood until getting baby step siblings.
Get help 🙏🏻 live laugh love
There is hope young man. I too was a dark and depressed 16 year old. Struggled off and on for many years. This music got me through a lot a painful times. You are not alone. You can make it through…I’m 53 now and found peace. Just fight like hell to feel ok without drugs and alcohol…be sober. And talk to someone.
This is when alternative was awesome. I do not listen to anything new. Its all Staind, Alice in Chains, Seether, Chevelle and so on. Some of the best all time bands. Among others for sure
Man, Chevelle is the shit!!!
i cant do this anymore. peek a boo disciples of soul give that a roll.
All The Rest of the bands are Post-grunge, I like Everything But Grunge bands and Post-grunge bands
Seether is trash.
You named one good band
This. Song. Hurts so much. I love it.
Did we know in the 90s/00s the future was bleek? Maybe we did. We felt angst anger and apathy to society and we just let it happen.... god hope was still alive back then. Now..... if only we'd of known we had the chance to change this bleek society in 2021...
this song is so fucking beautiful
This is one of Staind's greatest songs of all time.
Like a Storm rocks
💯
Staind hits my old scars hard. this may be one of the few bands that kept me alive back in the mid 2000s....
Staind saved me from killing myself in high school. The honesty of their music made me realize I wasn't the only one who wasn't happy and hated my life.
Hope 3s not a crowd
same. the darkness that my life became.
Beauty of it is there is a way back
R.I.P. Jon 😢
RIP Jon Wysocki. A legend gone way too soon. Sorry you never got the fair shot you deserved but what a hell of a ride and a great career nonetheless. Rest easy. I’m piss drunk and can’t believe it
R.I.P Ryan, this song always reminds me of you
why does no one get this band...... no one i know except for one guy even know who they are.. Staind is the soundtrack to my life..... every problem every heartache evry joy are all written in their lyrics ... xxx
Turning 37 in 3 more days and this song still hit me!
Thank God for bands like this ❤
God damn I wished I could go back
"A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it"
excerpt of The Brook Kerith by George Augustus Moore.
Of finally finds a home.
....or sry I hate touch screen phones lol
But what if there's no home...

This song made me cry back in the day
Tears of happiness and sorrow
Best Staind song hands down.
4 Walls
Definitely one of their best songs. 🎶🖤
💯
Probably my favorite.
this song will always hold a place in me. It was my actual life on the road for 3 years
Nobody hits my heart quite like Aaron Lewis and STAIND. Love them!!!
Rip! 'JON WYSOCKI'.😥😭.
Thank you Aaron Lewis for helping me get through all the crazy shit in my life!! You're songs are what have saved me the last 20 years!
Love the album break the cycle
Yes that's Fred in the video... He found these guys... The single greatest thing he has ever done...
LOL unfortunately I have to agree with you!! Limp Bizkit is just soooooo bad, of course that's my opinion and no disrespect to the people that are fans of them but Staind is 100X better imo
Second best thing he's ever done. Cold's an awesome band too
C-45 Uri fuck yeah
pt88gt he helped a lot of bands bro, he may be a douche bag, but he left his mark, some good songs, some good tours, videos, the whole free music thing with Napster.....he put in work and done some good
Staind is dopeskis , but fred durst not behing famous anymore was the greatest thing he ever did , kinda ..... like limp bizkit , dont like durst .
Such a powerful song..
'I'm afraid to be alone, afraid you'll leave me when I'm gone'
This let's me know I'm not the only one. It motivates me to keep fuckin walking. God bless you Aaron Lewis
The song that got me loving them..still have this CD. 💝
I remember when this video came out, I remember buying this album and it being one of the first albums that I was actually able to listen to all the way through. This song still touches home after so many years after its release.
2020 and the nostalgia is soo real
I love u.
this is the best song ever
*Happy 24th Anniversary To Home* 🎂🥳🎸
Andrew.I love you and never stopped loving you. Please don't believe the lies robin's been telling you
Story?
Still goes hard
I force myself through another day
Can't explain the way today just fell apart like everything
Right in my face
And I try to be the one
I can't accept this all because of you
I've had to walk away
From everything
I'm afraid to be alone
Afraid you'll leave me when I'm gone
I'm afraid to come back home
Another sleepless night again
Hotel room's my only friend
And friends like that just don't add up
To anything
And I try so hard to be everything
That I should never take away from you again
'Cause I heard ya say
I'm afraid to be alone
Afraid you'll leave me when I'm gone
I'm afraid to come back home
I cannot forget
I live with regret
I cannot forget
I live with
I'll live through this
I can't see through this
I can't do this anymore
Afraid you'll leave me when I'm gone
I just wish I was back home
Home
dam you reallyu STOLE my idea.
This is so real 🙃
Years later I still love this song and band
One of the best bands
This Is one of My Favorite Song's Period. This was Released Back in my Teen Year's or my Early 20's and it Still Hits So Hard Today. 🤘🏿🤘🏿
2018 and still vibing.
This is my all time favorite Staind song!

Fuck that chord they hit before the chorus is orgasmic
God, here i am at 40, reliving 17.....

Right dammit 35 but still.

Same dude SAME
That ugly undertone in the beginning just resonates my soul & lewis flying off the cliff into a pack black crowes instead of the white doves fresh rare song rare video equals diamond in the rough
this album was the shit. still is. the new people need to re check this out. it's like philosophy for the next generations of metal fans/players.
Amazing song, amazing voice, amazing album.
Never noticed that Fred Durst was in the very beginning.
He directed this video also.
@@StealthMaster86 Also signed Stained.
yes/directed it too!!
Still listen to all the albums..🙌🙌👊👊👊😀😀😀
His music speaks to me in every way ❤️
I love u
Best band out there
This entire album helped me so fkng much. I remember crying myself to sleep so many times...and the ‘Hidden Song’, which is actually called Excess Baggage, really had me crying because I was in so much pain. The music helped me. It was cathartic. It helped me get through so much. Staind was a band that took up a big part of my life growing up. I still love them. Aaron Lewis’ voice was so amazing, it still is. I don't know how he does it smoking like he always has. Smoking dries my vocal chords. I need to quick so I can train my voice again and sing. It's been a rough year.
Hi Laurie, thank you for sharing your story.
Much love from Argentina. Stay strong.
Ditto to Excess Baggage-that song has absolutely saved me on multiple occasions, and it was such a gift to find.
This song makes me cry this song is sad
This song hits home....dysfunction is an amazing album
This song and whole album is sooo underrated!! Staind for life 🤘🏻🔥
This song got me through some hard times.
If I could only take myself back to my teenage years . This one does it
At 2:51 The anger and pain just pour out. Beautiful.
One of my favorites!!!!! still listening in 2021
Are you single!? Ha
Miss when this man actually got people through shit. Helped me so much when my son passed.
He still does.
Right in the feels 🥲
💯
When he says “I can’t do this anymore” that shit hits u heavy smh😢
I have this album I like every song on it including this one
I chase everyone away. Afraid of being hurt again. I've been jamming this song and album since 99. Many memories come with it. Good and bad. I was always a loner, always hated it too growing up. I moved all the time switching schools and friends. Finally, when I was 12 I met a dude who became a life long brother. We used to play this shit all the time, partying, smoking, drinkin, tripping. He was the closest thing I ever had to a brother and my first real friend. We were close up until 2014 when he and his wife OD'd together on heroin. I can't ever go back home.....my home is gone
RIP Brian and Amanda
Still hits. This entire album 💿 was always slept on.
When your fear of abandonment is so intense it's literally crippling
2:24 🖤
Most beautiful verses i have ever heard.
Never alone
I saw Staind, live, so many decades ago. An incredible band.
I love how Fred was passing by Aaron in beginning of video. Jonathan Davis, Chester Bennington, Lajon Witherspoon, Aaron Lewis, Chino Moreno, Fred Durst, Kurt Cobain, and other I forgot to add. They are my gods 🙏
Fair enough. Appreciate Fred's balls and staying true to his faith
I touches on my hardest fears I fight with my self for most of my life. Thanks for putting your music into my life.
Wish I could go back to the times when this music was released. My life is so shit now.
This album their best IMO with great songs one after another.
I've watched this like 6 times in the past week
Left home at 16 and 50 now. Blatantly resonates ❤️.
It was wonderfully emotional and moving.
I was always so afraid to go back and listen to this song....I used to listened to this back in in high school, now I find myself listening to it again...There are days when I just really want to call it quits.
The words to describe what this song means to me escapes me . It is so powerful. So many memories. So many regrets. So many beloved family that departed too soon. Staind really tapped into a profound ethos with this song. Also a very good video. Well done.
I have been a fan of Staind for many years. Such a great band.
Aaron is a phenomenal lyricist who puts so much emotion into what he's singing.. you can literally feel it! That is true but you can't forget too mention that rhythm section behind him.. the band. They always sound so good! Mike Mushok is so underrated as a guitarist, riff master & shredder. He thinks his abilities are just mediocre. It's amazing how great & humble he really is! Just listen to his work with Newsted! Jason was so impressed with his all around ability.. including him making little changes to already finished songs & making them even better! Those Boston boys have made our state proud!
Western Ma boys
41 and tbands like Staind, Korn, Godsmack, Sound Garden, and all the other greats during the 80s, 90s, and early 00s help me get through most days. I do struggle with depression on most days.
