I was raised in the projects in a single parent home. I was bullied everyday and talked down to by my teachers. I would play this song everyday as loud as I could, dreaming of a way out. I am now an engineer with a wife and 4 kids. We don’t live in the project, I own a house. My kids don’t have do homework by candle light or worry about when/where their next meal will come from. I can provide for their every need. When life got hard I would play this song and dream about a better life. I’ve been blessed. Thanks for this song.
Good Son, god bless you! You’re an inspiration... we were born oppressed but we don’t have to stay oppressed!
hell yeah dude!
Good work man
Thank you for keeping the hope alive. I'm proud of you. Trying to make it through some tough times of my own.
Yeah that is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
From very dark and angry life, 3 days in a coma from attempting suicide years ago and lost lives ones, thank you Jesus for pulling me outta the pit of hell, now serving God, AMEN

10 times in a row 😭 and all the struggle we thought was in vain 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks brother.
RIP Jon Wysocki. This is the song that got me into Staind.
Same here! Far, far too young to be gone...only a year older than me! RIP 🌹
Did something stupid, went to prison, lost everything.
Got out with nothing and no one, everyday had this song in my head.
Now, I have a good job, a house, and that life is So Far Away.
I feel that on a spiritual level my guy 💪🤙
Congratulations we all make mistakes it's what we do after them tht counts
Welcome bro
You did it, man. Congratulations!
Sick dude! Keep going!
Staind, Chevelle and other bands helped me through my darkest days in the early 2000’s. Failed marriage, failed relationships. So bad that I was close to being homeless. Music like this helped me thru the bad. Within years, I met the lady that would be my wife. Showing me how to love. How to live. Always pushing me to be a better man. 13 years later, I can never imagine what life would be without her. 2 amazing kids. A great Job. It’s something I could never dream of. Thankful everyday. Thank you Staind.
Exactly ❤🎉🎉🎉😊
like night and day bro
That is beautiful!
Keep on rolling brother!

I've been a therapist for many years. This song is what I've identified as an anthem of triumph for so many of my patients who have overcome so, so many things. Gives me chills every damn time.
If I was your patient you would have heard it from me
Same.... I've survived and overcome many things. This will always be my song. 💯
Wish I had you as my therapist...mine tossed me away for having BPD. Stigmatized everywhere I go...hopeless.
I just started going to Trauma Therapy. I left behind an abusive marriage. So much to look forward to! ❤️

A wise man once said when you're happy you enjoy the melody but when you're sad you understand the lyrics.....
Was a very wise man
Cool brother love those wise words 👍
Thank you , Thomas
A very wise man with real life experiences.
I get the lyrics..
The world truly was a better place when we had music like this. Growing up in this era was special. I miss these times so damn much!!
Me to dude
Yep. And the thing is you just don’t realize how cool times are till they are past.
Many people underestimate the power of music rock on 🤘
Amen to that
Is a shame how the world has turned out to... The older the better whatever it is...
This song still hits going into 2023. Love reading through the comments and seeing so many people’s lives changed. Imagine a world without people like this. We sometimes don’t understand our struggle. But through it we can be a living testimony for other in need and going through the same hard time as you did. ❤
Thank you for your encouragement. I'm going through a separation after 15 years of marriage. I feel lost.
Exactly we need music like this to be influenced for the better. The music now doesn't even compare to the impact of this. I'm so thankful for all of music I've found throughout my life. It really makes a big difference 😌
Brother our generation baby boomers you were seen but not heard told to figure it the fuck out and we did and proved to the ones that said we were trash never to amount to nothing I traveled the world ask no one for nothing could this generation do that I think not we gave them too much

I'm 5 months sober from a42 year addiction to alcohol and drugs and it was a struggle but I'm finally free from the bondage that held me down, I'm so grateful to be where I am today 🙏😂❤
Everyone is a fighter inside. Wishing all of us keep this fight as long as we breath until the day come and we celebrate the historic victory in our life. Despite the emptiness, always be brave, never back down.
Born and raised in a poor family, my parents earning just enough money to survive each day. Now us 4 brothers are all professionals. Engineers and teachers. So far away from the previous state of living. Thank you Staind. Thank you to the nu-metal era bands. Your music gave people hope.

You will be remembered as a legend.
😭😭So many people gone so soon. RIP Joilene (my cousin) (March 2, 1999 - April 6, 2024), aged 25. It's ironic because I was listening to Staind right after she passed away. RIP Jon Wysocki.

I struggled with severe severe addiction in my past, and this song will forever be so special to me.. an anthem for overcoming, facing your demons, starting clean. Forgiving myself and forgiving others... if your struggling, you can make a way. You can fight your way back into the light and create a life you couldn’t have even dreamed of. I’m rooting for you.

RIP Jon Wysocki The late 90's, the music, was a special time, a special space.
This song will never not be "my song" since I started my sobriety journey over ten years ago. I haven't been clean that whole time but I am sober today and making changes to stay sober and actually live the life I deserve instead of killing myself slowly
I have t heard this in years… the second Aaron said these are my dreams.. I started crying
This song sends chills down my spine and bring tears to me eyes. WAKE UP YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
It’s not about where you started it’s about where you finish. People make mistakes and do things they regret, but if you can pull yourself back together and change everything then you indeed came so far from where you started 👍🏼

One of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion! Change, redemption, self growth and personal acceptance.
True. I was everybody's fool in high school. I was the popular guy who was goofy and fun loving enough to be surrounded by everyone un my hometown. I grew up as a gifted child with ADHD. I was depressed behind my funny demeanor. I faced unfathomable losses and tragedies at a startling age. To numb the pain, I partied too much for a year and turned into alcohol abuse and stopped attending university as a result. Subsequently, I lost my identity, was extremely sad, felt trapped in my life and my hometown so I attempted suicide twice. First time at 17. Second at 21. Weeks after my second attempt, I departed from my hometown and built a new life away in Paris. 7 years passed by, and even though I didn't completely forgive myself or others due to recurring PTSD, I came back to school, started over in Paris and graduated college & grad school with Honors and recreated a life I'm PROUD of. I had to relearn how to live, how to make friends, how to interact with people, how to accept, how to love, how to repair my broken relationships, how to make peace. Everything. I changed my look, my appearance, my tastes, my wardrobe, my body shape, my mindset, even some personality traits I had to do away with in order to mature and blossom into an adult.
I'm PROUD because my friends and family are PROUD of me. I'm PROUD of the person I am today for surviving suicide. Depression still lingers, l still cry here and there but I'm more at peace and accepting of myself and my mistakes than I was when I was a teenager. I'm 28 and I hope to face many more days. I must.
@@moisemensah8233... congratulations on persevering!
I am not ashamed of the person I am today. Thsnk you.
You've had bad choices or a bad childhood God answers when the times right when your ready & look at the outcome to this day I look through these comments & I'm reminded that we can get through anything with God

Things always change aslong as you give them a chance too
Beautiful
@@anushasharma9946 hope you are doing well and that life is treating you better. 🙂
@@anushasharma9946 This song is a mixed bag for me. You see, I was a shaken baby, and so the words, "somebody shake me cause I, I must be sleeping..." and "I'm so afraid of waking, please don't shake me!" are especially poignant to me, and not always in a good way. In fact, they quite often remind me of my disability that was the result of shaken baby syndrome.
At the same time, however, I love Staind and Aaron Lewis. They have so many songs that speak volumes to me, and I even went to an acoustic concert of his in Portland many years ago. Everything I know about him, everything I have heard, speaks of a good, caring person that puts his heart and his soul into his music... which is why I can listen to this song because I know he doesn't mean it as a way to hurt someone but as a way to simply wake them up.
When I listen to "So Far Away," I do so to remind myself that life has BOTH good and bad, and we need both. Without the bad times, we won't recognize the good... and while it is hard for me to listen to, it's sometimes a message that I need to remind myself of.
If you're listening to this MASTERPIECE in 2024, you're a legend!!! 🔥
You know it! 😁

This was my class song for Senior year. It still is so fitting for us. We were all young and dumb kids but we grew into men and women we could be proud of and that other people were proud of too. We just lost a good man 6-7 weeks ago. A marine..one of my best buds and coolest people I’ve ever known. This song just rips right through and I feel it describes his pain so much. Thats the beauty of music, well truly everything, it is left to one's perception. I am so sorry for your loss. I am truly no stranger to it, I have dealt with alot of it. Sometimes I feel I got left behind, like they beat me out of here. Just lost a friend 2 days ago. The good part is, i know they are all with me and they didn't beat me leaving here, they just wanted to greet me when I get there(if that makes since)
