Putting a deposit down on 2020 MT-07 next week, before my test as well, got my theory coming up so hoping to pass that and my A2, was in a bad crash at the start of the year so it knocked the confidence as well for my test and a bike to get, watch this and ur test tips videos and surprisingly helped me with my choices and confidence with the test, hope to see u back soon mate
Had one since 2014 still love it, SBS RS sort the brakes out, nitro rear and springs for front end sort that suspension out, nightie led sorts the light out. Well worth doing all those mods, makes it a very useful tool
I wish I wasn't selling mine, planned on doing so much but moving country soon, might have to get another one when I move ;)
me who is collecting my new MT07 tomorrow when i see this in my feed :O
Lets go man, I'm happy for you, you'll be out enjoying it in no time 💜

Totally agree with you. Had mine for a year now, although I got the Tracer 700. So many mods you can do for a reasonable price. Easy front suspension mod available thru TEC Engineering in the UK. One of the easiest things I’ve changed! As well as that, also got a TEC exhaust, double usb point, centre stand, comfort seat, led indicators and running lights, givi engine guard, radiator protector and a winter screen. All easily fitted and all easily sourced. Great all round, do anything, go anywhere bike! And respect to you for riding in those shit conditions!!
Thank you for the comment Simon, yeah sadly been riding in this weather since last year just commuting to work 😥 went from 10,000 to 24,000 miles in less than a year lol had a lot of seat time on this bike and still love it!
Bought my MT07 new in 2017 and within 3 months went to Croatia and Slovenia on it 3500 miles it was great. I still have it and have enjoyed it all that time. The torque is brilliant and I don't mind the engine braking. In traffic it is not as smooth as it could be but you get used to it. Great bike.
Hi Mike, did you make any change to the MT07 for that long ride? what about luggage ? Seat?
thank you G
0-80mph is perfect for me with highway speed limit of 70 mph 😀
O-illegalmph is decent :)
130kmh is the top speed allowed on my country so its 80mph~ ish
A yamaha MT-125 would also do the job

@@baldguysquattinginthedark4567 yh they are if you if speed is what you want but for the original posters comment who is restricted to 70mph a Yamaha mt 125 will do the job as they have decent acceleration n torque compared to most 125s.
I’m in love with these bikes, as soon as I pass my test, I’ll be looking to buy a mt07 👌👌🏁
1:40 ACF-50 is some magical stuff 🤣...
Great video!
It really is!
I’m picking up a Tech Black 2021 model next week, and the weather forecast is for the weather you had for that video. It won’t stop me riding the arse off it that day, though ;)
Been interested in the 07 as my next bike, been watching a few of your vids about it and then you just post this, great timing, I got the FZ6 atm, top end is wicked but I would much prefer the low end torque seeing as I spend most of my time on the bike talking shit on camera riding around town lol
Definitely get one man, seen you had the MT-125, you'll love the MT-07 😊
Same thing here. I ride SV650S 2009 and considering getting MT07. I'm not into high rpm high speed, would prefer low rpm high torque, which is all what is MT07 about.
I had a 2016 for 5 years. Great fun bike. Bad points are as follows. Suspension is really bad, unsettled when cornering hard on slightly uneven roads. Corrosion, I bathed mine in ACF50 so I had no issues. The finishes are cheap though. Other than that I had a great time. As a 1st big bike I'd do it again. Upgraded last year to a Triumph Street Triple 765 R.
I've got a 2015 one and like you said, no rust whatsoever. Fully agree with your engine break observation, it takes quite some time getting used to! But isn't an MT-07 just great for those winding country roads!?
Just clicked on your video to watch about the MT, and then realised that half the roads in the video are my commute to work 😂 small world
I like the videos man, i wish i still had my MT-07!!
Thank you bro 💜💜
Had a test ride on one of these when they came out. Reminded me so much of my old RDLC. Braking was incredibly better though. The main drawback though is I'm 56 and the seat was too uncomfortable and the riding position too cramped. If I was 30 I'd buy one straightaway.
RDLC.... a man of culture I see. I think the mt-07 is a lot easier to tame though. If I want to be reminded I am getting old a quick blast on the RDLC reminds me...
Good to see you back out riding, ZZR1400 arrives soon

I passed my bike test in 2017 on a brand new grey and yellow MT07 with all the crash bars fitted. Seriously thinking about getting one or an MT09 and getting rid of the sportster
It's a FUN bike. Light, agile, and loads of torque down low. I't a damn near perfect bike for just riding in town.

@@ReevyMotovlogs nw at all bro 💜💜
Had my 2018 abs over 2yrs now agree with the engine braking fierce! also mirrors were a pain, stuck 10m risers on whole lot better now the torque is something else on it not great at high speed I've got a screen but wind rips your lid up a bit.
I thought I already commented on here! Good video man👊👊
Appreciate it!
Oh my I absolutely love my mt-07, I'll never sell it. My biggest gripe was fixed with the newer ones using road 5's tires.
I find this bike to be perfect for what it needs to be. I love the sound and for a harley dude like me who prides their bike's fit and finish bullshit, the quality of this bike isn't that bad. The thing is, any product that comes out nowadays are obsolete in a few years so having a nicer finish isn't much of a big deal anymore since you're gonna replace that bike sooner or later anyways. Suspension wise, theres a cheap fix for it so no big deal and with regards to the top speed, i dont give a damn because too much speed ain't fun unless you're an adrenaline junkie and I'm a responsible hooligan so if its fun in 0-60, 0-100 its good enough for me.
^^^this 💯
i've not ridden for 10 years since i did my full license and bought a Honda XR250..but feel an MT07 would be a good bike to get back into it and commute on
Nice video bro. What you think about the missing traction control on this bike? Is it a safety concern on the wet UK roads?
Never had an issue in the rain, slap some road 5 tyres on and you’re set tbh :)
Hey I noticed you didn’t use the clutch while changing gears,,, also downshifting sounds awesome… give me some pointers I new to the bike world. I purchased a new 2022MT07 … thanks
This is so good to hear, most of it:) actually looking at a 2014/2015 can't wait.
You wont regret it :)
I had learned on the kawai z400 and its so smooth lightweight and engine braking too, cant decide between that or MT
Kawai 😂😂
Get the coolant pipes and swingarm powdercoated.
You have such a natural talent for UA-cam. Great personality for it! Yea I love this bike. I'm sitting with £100 in my bank ( I recently bought a gaming laptop, chair, desk and DLSR for UA-cam lol) ... and I'm trying to workout in my head HOW I can obtain this bike financially xD
Also do you recommend this bike for a beginner (27yo) that hasn't drove a bike before? I was looking at the MT125 and MT03 but they just don't excite me as much as this I think. Anyway I'll be more than happy if you could give your take on my options. Never-the-less, its a sub from me. Keep up the stellar content.
Firstly thank you so much for the kind comment, it’s comments like this that make me love doing UA-cam.
Secondly, good luck with your channel hopefully the investment pays off and you enjoy it and succeed.
For an absolute beginner I’ve seen men and women start out on this bike, I think there might be some videos on UA-cam of beginners opinions, I’d consider myself a bit of a beginner when I got this bike and from my 1+ year experience with it, it was a fairly easy bike to ride.
Not too heavy, not crazy fast but at the same time it is very torquey, as long as you’re sensible, cautious and don’t go crazy with the throttle you should be fine, it is quite a lot of power for a beginner but you control your wrist at the end of the day, I feel like most people are smart enough to know their limit and when is a good time to go a bit crazy with it.
MT-125 would get boring, sold mine after 3 months however it was great for starting out. MT-03 would be perfect for a beginner but once again the power would get boring fast and would make you want to upgrade to the MT-07, I feel like the MT-07 is just the best option all round.
I do miss mine sometimes, it was a very good bike, just the suspension and brakes weren’t amazing but they did the job.
I’d say do your test and see how you feel riding a bike, if you feel confident and you pass your test then definitely go for the MT-07 and you definitely won’t regret it.
Just don’t worry about anything, try to be confident and just think about how much fun you’re going to have on the road once you own one. I was so nervous about my tests and finally getting a bigger bike when in reality it wasn’t really that scary or difficult to do, it was one of the most fun experiences ever to be fair.
@@ReevyMotovlogs yea I will go for the MT07. I'll have to work towards this goal and work way more overtime now to save up for this 😂 my channel will be very diverse with gaming / biking hopefully so I guess its a path in the right direction.
I've went from wanting an E-bicycle to an Electric Zero FXS motorcycle then to a 125cc petrol bike now an MT07 😂.
UA-cam really takes you down a crazy path when you get hooked on it.... I'll probably be watching 'top 10 jetpacks you can buy' next... Or... 'Tutorial on how to create a nuclear bomb to wipe out your country'. UA-cam Really does have endless possibilities and destinations.
Anyhow yes that's good that I can be an MT07 participant. Thanks for response. Now my girlfriend will be happy to know and crying inside that I'm keeping my £800 cardboard box car and thriving for bigger dreams 👈😂👉
man i have a 2015 mt 07 i like it i like the engine breaking to its hard you just have to adjust how you ride i can do mild twistys going little faster then speed limit with only throttle so breaking to and for the throttle jerk i tend to have a really tiny bit of throttle when going in to a corner sporty like so i dont get jerk when goin on the throttle even if you do it very slow and gentle it will jerk
Hey Reevy, thanks for making this video. Is there any other bike you would recommend instead of the mt 07? (For A2 license)
Honestly all down to personal preference, I haven't really ridden any other bikes that fit the A2 category, only bigger bikes but the 07 would be my personal go to :)
ok my friend did a test ride on a ducatie street fighter 848 2012 and after that rode my 2015 mt 07 he like the mt better but he has only been riding for two months honda cb 500 so skill will help to ride the ducatie but he had more fun on my bike
I've had my MT 07 2 years now and I found rust was under the paint work on the weld on the swing arm, I chipped the paint when I was cleaning it which was weird, so the quality of steel is shocking 🤦♂️MT 09 soon land
Hmm been riding my 2015 fz07 for a couple years. Pretty active on the fz07 reddit and I've never heard anyone complain about rust issues. I know if you live pretty close to the sea the cars do tend to rust and pretty sure that applies to any metal. I don't think that's a problem with the motorcycle itself.
Look at the MT-07 owners page, plenty of people have the issue with the new models.
Do you think would this bike benefit from a windscreen?..if so it would be a nice tourer ..
I just got a 2015 mt07 as my 1st bike i was going through the paper work it said its been restricted, from new plenty of grunt to learn with are they easy to derstrict
I’ve got my MT07, I actually commented on one of your videos about moving to America and I said I’d buy yours🤣 I couldn’t wait and there was a bargain MT for £3600 night fluo colours which is my preferred colour. If you’re not far I’d happily get out some time

Your point with the engine brake is so true. Feels like an emergency brake for a sec.

preferably you would want to touch the brake light too if there is a car behind you to let em know your braking

Cool profile picture 😂😂
Good luck man, great choice too!
I think all of the negatives are justified by the price of the bike, I feel this bike is the best in the middle-weight naked class (except that new triumph maybe). I love mine, all the best from New Zealand.
Very true man and oh the Trident? That bike looks sick! Ride safe bro 💜💯
@@ReevyMotovlogs Yeah the Trident looks awesome! You also ride safe 👌
Just bought 2022 model i hope i dont have any problems with it
What exhaust do you have on the mt07?
I have 2017 model, No rust issues, engine braking can be fixed in Yamaha. They will literally change one checkbox in seetings and all is smoother (In EU, might be different around the world). Already have about 25k KM and it is awesome bike
I love the engine braking especially where I live with the steep canyons in Utah.
Duke 390 or mt07? I really cant decideeee
Nice bro
Should i be worried about rusting if i live in a country where it barely rains and if so i am def not riding:)? I guess not so coating acf50 is unnecessary?
ACF50 would help protect it and make it look shiny though 😉 but there are other products for that, I guess if it’s rusting then getting it powder coated would sort that.
Do you find the location of the lcd display is too close? ie you have to keep looking down to see your speed etc?
Ah yeah good point, dash placement is a little awkward
Is there anything else in this price range you’d recommend? I’m looking for something affordable I can restrict on an a2 license
Personally I've only ridden the MT-07 & 701 on an A2 license, there's a huge range of bikes here to choose from a2bikes.co.uk/
Nice video... Let just say that in some areas the price of the latest version is few hundred more than the older version.. is it worth it to spend the extra dollar?
I don’t like the look of the new model and don’t really see any reason to pay extra as there aren’t many changes compared to the old model, plus I don’t like the new dash either.
@@ReevyMotovlogs alrite.. I don't know if u have tried the latest version but do u think is there any noticeable difference in term of performance, handling and braking? Or is it more or less the same?
I am getting my A1 license in 3 weeks, but i am already looking at the 07 for my A2 when i turn 18..
Is the restrictor possible to remove?
Yes very easy too, I have a video on it
I don't have this bike but I have a few questions please.
This bike rusts easy? How about if I rarely ride in the rain?
On the top speed, 125mph should be plenty, no?
Can it cruise highway at 85mph easily?
You can prevent rust by using ACF50, my bike was a 2014 with very little rust.
Top speed is roughly 135, more than enough :)
For use on motorways it's very windy but can easily sit there at 85 no problem.
I was torn between this and the ninja 650 then after having a quick ride on both I decided to go for the mt07
Great choice, I’ve tried the 650 too, not my kinda bike tbh
@@ReevyMotovlogs yea looks good but the short carpark ride i had put me off. The MT just feels right for my style or riding. Cant wait to get my full licence and buy one
Is the mt a good starter bike. I want to take mc license some day and Ive been looking at mt bikes and think they look good. but how is they to handle compared to other bikes?
I came up from a 125 to the MT-07 so the MT-07 was my first big bike, I instantly felt so much regret as if I should've just got one sooner.
I honestly do think this bike is good for a beginner, as long as you know your limits and don't go crazy with it :)
Forgot to mention, I've tried other big bikes and the 07 does feel less smooth (can be fixed with a tune) and feels quite snappy low end but if you go easy on the throttle it's not too bad, I'd still consider it very good for beginners.
I got the yamaha blue 2019 MT07 for my first bike 3 years ago brand new. Never had any experience on a motorcycle other than when i did my learner licence in New Zealand on a hired bike. Never crashed it or dropped it. Had a few close calls but learnt from it. If you know how to drive a stick you should be able to figure it out fast. I watched many youtube videos and did a riding course. Number one rule keep to your limits and respect the torque this bike has or you will wheelie it very easy. Essy to ride, very nimble, gear indicator very helpful but you will eventualy stop looking at it, basic maintenance is easy to do yourself, lots of videos on youtube for doing all sorts, customise it to suit you. I do agree with the suspension being shit though but you can also change that. Its fun and i would highly recomend it if you are a person that rides responsibly until you master a few things like counter steering, throttle control, rev matching and slow speed movement. Basic stuff like that. The new triumph trident is another choice that has more to offer but priced a little bit more i think or maybe the street tripple.
yamaha mt 07! One day
torqe is king on the street ,, an R 6 is nice on the track but on Twisties mt 07 willl keep up
I had 2018 mt07 brand new after getting into my fifthies and having a long history of bikes (r1s r6 aprilia 1000s triumphs 955 plus a multitude of others ) the engine on the mt is fantastic mpg Brill but OMFG it's the worst handling bike I've ever owned it was actually scary cornering at speed
That is true too actually lol
I love ABS❤️🏴save my life
what's the point of top speed anyway, torque is much more fun and safer for you driving licence

So I’ve been thinking about the Yamaha mt-03 lately but I’ve got informed that it’s out of stock and won’t be available until next year so the dealer told me about this Yamaha mt-07
So this would be my third, most expensive bike yet.
Right now I own a KTM duke 200 from 2015 but find the power barely enough.
So all in all I’ve been hesitating between the Yamaha mt-07 and the KTM Duke 390
Both brand new
What’s your advice on this ?
Thank you in advance
Love you from Hungary 🇭🇺
Furthermore I find the KTM incredibly low quality almost everything breaks in it and I’ve been previously stuck out there. Now I have a major engine failure 😞
I’ve never had any problems with the MT-07, super reliable although I will say the build quality is a bit low for the price you pay.
That being said, it’s still a very good bike, I’d advise using ACF-50 on the swingarms to prevent rust since that’s very common with this bike.
You won’t regret buying the 07, plenty of power yet really good for beginners.
I had one from -16-17 and made 20 000km on it and I do not miss it at all. Buy cheap and you get a cheap bike. Nothing wrong with the engine though.
Not for everyone I suppose, you can do a lot to fix most of the issues. The forks and shock being the main one and then getting the bike tuned helps massively but then again, I’ve had the bike semi standard for over a year and have fun on it every time I’m riding.
@@ReevyMotovlogs That's fine! My point is, buy a bike a bit cheaper than the competition (Honda CB650R) and then buy improvement things and make it cost more than the competition... Anyroad, it's smiles/miles that counts! Thanks!

I think also the brakes are quite bad when u try to go faster
I mean that makes sense lol upgrade the pads and/or get braided brake lines ;)
How much is insurance on it?
It all depends on area, security, crime rate etc it’s only £250 a year for me.
Budget bike and nothing else, build quality is bad, just looks cheap with so much plastic, rusty swingarm is a pain (i acf50 twice a year), but it still creeps. Still got my 2016 and its been one thing after another, it is a nice light bike with enough power if you are not a speed freak but personally i need an upgrade in terms of quality. I'd go for a street triple if choosing today.
People got so mad at me for calling it a budget bike 😂😂 majority of 07 owners would agree with what you've just said, I still love my 07 though ;)
I can’t decide between the mt07 or the triumph street triple 675 I’ve got a few months before my a2 but i cant decide
The 675 would be very tempting
Note; you can't actually get a 675 on an A2 License, they make a Street Triple 660 designed for the A2 License though, however they may be harder to find or resell.
There is also the new Trident 660 (if you are planning on buying new)
@@frogbaseball yeah that’s the only downside, trident is dope tho
@@frogbaseball you can get one it just has to be the one before 2012 with the circle headlights but it looks like a ball ache to get a restrictor because there discontinued so that’s crap. Really tempted to get the MT-07 and this video has just confirmed to me that I am going to get it. I just have one query for the tall riders: I'm 6ft 4" and my back/neck tends to kill on a Honda cb125f and while the MT-07 has a slightly higher seating position, it looks like the handle bars and seating position makes you lean forwards a little bit more than usual which is a worry for me. Any comments/tips on this would be appreciated!
There are 1’ or 2’ bar risers for these too

My mt07 reminds me of a miata
You can’t compare an MT-07 with an R6. Two very completely different types of bikes...
Think you missed the point. The R6 is a sports bike, the MT-07 is a naked. The one thing I get a lot when I’m out is that because it’s a 700 people seem to think it’s rapid, when you compare that to an R6 you’ll see that the MT-07 isn’t rapid in comparison.
Obviously the R6 is going to be faster anyway but the point I’m making is that it doesn’t matter if it’s a higher cc, it’s all down to bhp, torque etc and whilst the MT-07 is torquey low end, doesn’t mean it’s a crazy fast bike because of the engine size.
But guess what, I compared them because I can, hope you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Are you going to get another one when you move to the USA or you gonna get a Harley and blend in with the locals???
Harley? Never lol but I'll save the new bike as a surprise ;)
the bike is not made for top speed mt stand for master of torq
It’s “Master of torque” top speed doesn’t even matter on these bikes, all the fun is in the lower gears, through the twisties and doing wheelies :)
hello :)
Hello 😊
Torque>top speed
100% top speed doesn’t bother majority of people, no one is gonna be doing 130 through a city / town 😂
Yamaha are not the best quality build ..the plastic parts and the metal parts are not the best...I'm own a MT10SP and the fun is super ..nice review bro 🤘
Thank you man! 💜
The MT07 seems like a great bike until you get something better. Then you realise how deficient it is.
I don’t doubt that for a second, plenty of better bikes out there but the MT-07 will always have a special place in my heart, such a fun bike regardless of its faults
The start switch is shit. Same on the MT09.
How could I forget about that lol yeah bit of a weird design can't lie
I got
bikes that are 15 yeses old not 3 or 4 and no. Rust at all and ridden all year.... New budget bikes are budget and rust like fuck.its a sigh of the times, most people cant afford a 20k R1 so the budget bike boom begins.... New honda are no way the same quality as older hondas.
This is so true and whenever I tell someone this IS a budget bike I get a massive paragraph because of the price, it’s not that it costs thousands, it’s the quality and what’s on the bike. Spot on mate.
