As a builder for 40 years..advice. Never rely on adhesive on a peak, run flashing under ridge vent over top of boot. It WILL leak if not.If you flash it ,it will last the life of the rubber boot. Great work on the cabin.

I was going to say the same thing. The best insurance especially since you're only a few inches from the ridge. Those boots are good and the lines around there are to trim it to the diameter needed.

Why install the pipe up inside the cabin, all that way up through the roof ? Was there no way place to install the stove near an exterior wall, with the flue pipe going out through a side wall, then up the outside of the cabin ?

Right plus they just dont draw as good with a horizontal run as they do with a 100% vertical flu. Especially important when starting the fire, will smoke you out with a horizontal run until it gets drawing good.

I have had a chimney boot like that on my camp for about 6 years. Instead of pushing the boot down, and having that pucker, I was able to keep the boot higher on top, making a dome shape. Then I sealed around the top also. If you use the metal chimney boot, just run a short piece of flashing up under the ridge cap, then it shouldn’t leak. Great job!

    Good work as always.
A little trick to get on that roof easier.
Lash a 4x4 to the end of that folding extendable ladder.
Tie a long piece of rope to the 4x4.
Push the ladder with the 4x4 up over the ridgecap so it catches.
The 4x4 will act like a hook. Just go easy and you wont damage anything. If you sre worried about it, tape some foam to the 4x4 where it is going to contact.
For safety toss the rope over the roof and attach to something solid.
With the full length of the ladder on one side you should be able to walk up it instead of struggling with that first six feet.

The fire looks incredible!!! My nerves would have been shot cutting through the insulation and roof. It must have killed you to cut into the beautiful wood on the ceiling, which the wood ceiling is awesome!!
Not sure if anyone has suggested, or maybe you know. To clean the soot on the glass, use a damp paper towel and the wood ash inside the stove scrub it on and wipe it off. No chemicals needed to keep a clean view of the fire!!

I thought I'd log on youtube looking for updated videos from my favorite top 5 casters! I can't wait til you release your Christmas video! No pressure. I can envision the music, the choreography, the dancing elves and you with a Santa hat on. Viewers will be thrilled as you sit down by the fireplace and sing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas......." ::sniff:: I'm tearing up thinking of it. We wait with eager anticipation at your next release to bedazzle and thrill us in this holiday season. The end of the year is almost upon us. Where did that time go? Thank you for providing great content for us to kick back and watch you and Mr. Hammer build our dream cabin in the woods.
