Trouble is, it didn't work if that was the plan because he missed out on awards and industry people plus fans were irritated how he had kept his private life private then went all pap-hungry while still slagging off the press. No trouble keeping his private life to himself then having paps follow him around, while he sold his "romance" and various items he promotes (Jaguar cars for example). Just hypocrisy. Its a rule in the business- do not slag off your fans, do not lie to them because the crazy obsessed ones will forgive you but the ones who appreciate your talent will move on, leaving you with the fans you don't really want. He has done both.
