      In an Eastern European home, when you arrive, even if you just finished a 7 course meal 15min prior. "You're hungry, eat, eat, eat my son!!" This is tradition and at first, if you are not used to it, its a bit strange. Until you realize, this is how warm and inviting these people are. I visited Poland in 2008 and experienced just the same. Even here in the US, when you go to an Eastern European family's grandmothers home, you are met with the same thing. Out comes the plastic wrapped plates of leftovers, cookies and cakes come out of nowhere, drinks make their way to the table, hugs, kisses and chatter fill the room. Its pretty awesome to be honest. The US as a whole needs to get back to this way.

    • @spiderko
      @spiderko 4 роки тому +36

      In Poland and... I believe in Ukraine, we say "gosc w domu, Bog w domu" which translate to "guest in home, God in home". We love to share food, drink and make people welcomed.

      Brian Streufert Absolutely correct. My grandmother was German and she always brought out, as you said, cookies and cakes. She always made sure that you had enough and left with enough. To them, seeing you’re happy and satisfied is their happiness.

Also when you disturb the dust you kick it up and can breath it in again bypassing the skin and entering the lungs. im Ukrianian but lived in the states for most my life, im about to board the plane to Ukraine and head back home for a few weeks. Thank you for making these lovely videos of my people and the destruction brought on by the nuclear plant. Our people are very welcoming and heartwarming. cant wait to be there and experience it for myself. All my family is there awaiting my arrival. 23 years later im coming back. You've inspired me to bring my camera and film. Maybe ill post a video when i get back. Thanks Mr. Bald

      In this instance literally everything you see is soviet era, preserved in time completely unchanged. I'm surprised that he used the word soviet so few times in this video to be honest. I was hoping for more.

    You should visit cities like Yakutsk or Norilsk in the dead of winter.

      Karl Rocks there is nothing there to film. These places are just cold and boring.

      “There is nothing there to film” you realise that’s why we love Balds videos, he visits places that are boring and makes them interesting.

      Karl Rocks Pripyat is not boring. Bold visits places with the spirit. Believe me, even Bald would not be able to make an interesting video about Norilsk.

      ErmakBrovar I’d say Pripyat is the most mainstream place Balds visited in the former USSR, not the typical place he visits. Norilsk was a bad example, but Yakutsk has an interesting culture and language.

      Karl Rocks Yakutsk does not differ from Norilsk at all. And they both do not differ from Nizhnevartovsk as well. There is no culture there. The place to visit could be Vologda, for example: sounds like the ass of the world but the is a lot of history and culture there.

      Presumably trapped there for life as you're only going to get even more radioactive by being there?

      But yeah, they take you to a super clean room where they pressure wash you if the gate doesn't open.

    Reading all the philosophies and self improvement books doesnt beat watching Benjamin's journey. I am too a traveller though not a vlogger. I find myself acting more positively, kinder and stress far less after a daily dose of bald and bankrupt. it's taught me lot. from how to interact with people to seeing the best in the worst. A heartfelt thanks.
