CLARIFICATION: At 4:12, I mean that the inside layer of the CX-30's hood sheet metal flexes; the strut and its hardware seem completely fine.
If you like to work under the hood of your CX-30, hood struts will make your engine bay feel far more premium and prevent the hood prop rod from getting in your way. In this video, I'll show you step-by-step how to install hood struts, and upgrade your under-hood experience in just 10-15 minutes.

Did mine in 10 minutes tops with your video. Sweet! JUST MAKE SURE THE HOOD IS ALWAYS SECURED PROPERLY. YOU NO LONGER USE THE WEIGHT OF THE HOOD TO CLOSE IT SO YOU HAVE TO PUSH DOWN. THAT WOULD BE AN EXPENSIVE DANGEROUS ACCIDENT IF THE HOOD FLIPPED OPEN BECAUSE IT WASN'T CLOSED ALL THE WAY.

Pretty straight forward install. Nice! Hood struts are an odd thing. Kia has them on many models but Honda is notorious for no struts. Camry’s use to have them but I think they even ditched them.

Did a single on my MX-5. It was a simple kit like this install. I wold do this on my CX-30 but, it's a lease.
Just ordered a set. Had to do this to my Mustang GT also.
installed redline brand made in usa a little more expensive but much better and easier install.

how did you remove the circle piece from 2:05? i spent 10 minutes using different tools and force and was unable to get it off.

Stuff like this should be standard equipment, considering how bulky the hoods are on these vehicles. Instead, automakers choose to make certain tech-bloat & features that a lot of people don't even want standard instead. Go figure.
most owners never open their hoods, so easy place to cut costs where it isn't noticed.
Every pound counts towards improving MPG, so automakers are keen to remove them.
Cammon pal! That "cresant" wrench is a combination wrench, and that 9 over 16 is called a 9-16th. Please know your tools so you dont sound silly!
