All of your CX-30 videos and some others had led me to make the final decision to purchase my car. I went with a used 2021 premium with approximately 13k miles but it still felt brand new. It’s such a good car and so far I enjoy every moment driving it
I used to drive Toyota religiously and had an accident, my replacement car was Mazda 5. Then I looked into Mazda and found CX30 and fell in love❤ I was very sad about the accident, but now I feel lucky to get a such a beautiful car✨ Also makes me happy and smile every time when I see other CX30 driving by😊
James!! I recently purchased a certified used Mazda CS-30 Carbon Edition 2023 with just under 7K miles. LIKE NEW and I absolutely love it. I've added lower air air grill and also ceramic coated the exterior. Thanks for all of the videos and your impressions. It is an amazing vehicle and I am happy about the great deal I made.
Appreciate the CX-30 update! I am expecting delivery in March after ordering in September. Your videos have been greatly informative. I agree with your takes as well. After driving everything in the same price range the actual driving feel of the Mazda is just immensely superior. The feel of quality is amplified as well. There are other cars in this price range that introduce more features and tech.. but absolutely nobody (in this price range) provides them as quality as Mazda does. Touch points, materials, buttons/switches, driving functions like ride quality brake performance acceleration and most importantly steering. Top notch. I'm paying more then I planned.. but this car felt above everything else.
I've had my 2022 CX-30 Carbon Edition Preferred for one year now & love it - zero problems/build-issues to report. I only have two gripes about it really - both cosmetic, & I knew going-in I would have to address myself with customization. #1 No grill cover on lower front intake to block view of radiator innards, which looks tacky as hell. I fixed this with aftermarket product that matches the upper grill design, though it took some DIY with two kits since we don't use front license plates here where I live. #2 The in-your-face thick ABS plastic eyesore cladding & bumper look woefully uniform/generic/cheap, & looks like a bolted on afterthought to the rest of the vehicle. The only fix for this (for me) in order to better integrate that black cladding/bumper with rest of vehicle design was to buy the Carbon Edition with the complimenting black wheels & black side mirrors, & then also blacking out the front grill chrome trim, side chrome trim, silver roof rails & entire painted portion of roof between rails back to black hatch spoiler, & the triangular recessed painted area of hatch where license plate mounts (to break up the stark horizontal contrast of the plastic bumper with painted hatch). I also blacked out the middle raised portion of the front hood with the same black satin vinyl. Looks so much better after that, & has some serious, moody post-apocalypse Rally-Crossover vibes going on now. :)
I purchased a 2023 CX-30 Carbon Edition, and I have to agree with everything you’ve said. It is those little things that add up to an excellent driving experience. If someone is in the market for a vehicle like this, the driving and quality feel will win you over!
I really like your approach to videos. It is intelligent and conversational without being too bogged down in technical jargon. I'm a big fan of Mazda lately too. We have had an rx-8, two NB Miatas a Mazda6. I'm looking at the possibility of a cx-30 as my next car but I keep getting tempted to go to the 2.5 Turbo route though I'm not sure that represents the best value. I also think the upcoming MX-30 (with the range extending rotary engine) might be the most "Mazda" car available
Man! was going to ask what you're gonna get next since you've been leasing this car. But glad to hear in the end you are keeping it and staying in the Mazda fam.
Agree, especially with regard to the braking and suspension. I'm in the UK, so not sure if there are any major differences between the UK and North American car set up. Very pleased with my CX-30.
The turn signal “action” is one of the coolest things I noticed with my CX-30…I like to show people how it “pulsates”…like a Genetically Organised Robotic Technology (G.O.R.T.) alien!
As an owner of a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch (sportier cousin of the CX-30) I agree with everything you like, but add the overall simplicity of the interior while still feeling more premium than it's competitors, and that even includes the latest Honda Civic which is also well done. To me the Mazda 3 is like having a car styled by one one of the Italian design houses, yet Japanese build quality and reliability underneath the skin. One big drawback (form over function) is the rear visibility on the hatchback which I'm guessing is no better on the CX-30. If your rear view camera is dirty or obscured for any reason it's nearly mandatory to clear it before blindly reversing🙈
Thanks for reassuring me :) You are one of the reasons i bought the cx-30 a year ago, an i love it! The suspension though is some problematic for me, i have a really bad roads at my on-mountain town, and i find myself frequently jumping and jittering inside my car. I have lowered the tire pressure for about 5-7% and there is a big improvement, but still, not great like a Ford Puma for instance, that has one of the best suspension systems i have tried.
Yep. Your review os honest! I bought a 2020 premium awd (cx 30) in april 2020. I am delighted with it. To put it simply, it is an extremely well engineered vehicle. A small gripe I have, safety features are a little to pro-active in my opinion.
Thank you for such an interesting video about the coolest car i have ever seen designed ( pardon my bias, only coz i own one hehe) And it's true, each time i spot a cx30 passing by, i go *Oomph*!! Such a sight for the sore eyes!
I have the same vehicle as you but in soul red. Overall i like the vehicle but disagree with you about the signals....i think the fade looks cheap....looking at them flash , it looks as if something is defective, imo. I prefer the flash on and off that leds should do...i also feel it is safer.
I'm waiting for the 2023 AWD manual transmission, but unfortunately in EU the Bose sound system is not available anymore. I hope the Mazda standard audio system will be good enough.
Current owner of a 2019 CX-3 (which got discontinued in the United States when the CX-30 was released). I bought my car used. Wished I'd gotten a CX-30 instead. Oh well, maybe once my CX-3 becomes too expensive to maintain compared to its depreciated worth...if the CX-30 comes in EV or hybrid form by then. I tend to drive my cars into the ground before replacing them, so I have a feeling I won't be replacing this car until after the ICE ban goes into full effect. If I had not gotten the CX-3 though, I probably would not have become a Mazda fan at all.
I ordered one last month. It arrives in mid-February! I'm purchasing rather than leasing; so, I am glad that this car retains quality over time (compared to other vehicles).
I love my cx30...when I try explain to friends why I'm buying another mazda and start talking about connection between car and me I just got weird looks from them..and question " what u on about " 😆
I just wish that the CX-30 was Made In Japan instead of Mexico. From a logistics standpoint it makes sense since it's supposed to be a top seller for the North American market and transporting the car from Mexico instead of Japan is much easier but I wish the turbo trims were at least Made In Japan. There's probably nothing wrong with their Mexican plant, I'm just a big fan of MIJ and Hiroshima.
To your point, I"ve also noticed the CX-30 drivetrains are also mfg'rd outside of Japan. Compared to CX-5's which are mfg'rd entirely in Japan. My inquiring mind is wondering how that impacts particularly the CX-30 Turbos down the road in light of issues some 2021 models have experienced with oil consumption.

That sonds really cool. Do you have any pictures?
I love the update! Bought my first Mazda a few months ago and went with the CX-30 partly due to your CX-30 videos.
Agree, I have the CX30 2021. Great car.

Before watching your videos, I have never put Mazda into my considerations, but now, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for your great share!

I should recommend this to my daughter. She is considering buying a car.. thank you for the updates..
I'll definitely have to drive one the next time I'm car shopping. The details let you know how well a product is made

These videos of yours made me buy mazda cx30 🎉 i love my cx30 same color black
Your videos are enjoyable, I want a CX-30!
The turn signal was meant to mimic a human heartbeat. Love my 2022. It handles way better than the 5.
100%! I have a 2024 Mazda CX-30 Skyactiv X 186 HP AWD, it is the best!😌👍🏼
Thanks James! I'm definitely interested in purchasing this vehicle even more now! Great review!

I saw this Mazda recently. Its turn signals look very interesting
I've got 15K on my 2021 CX-30 and I still love it. I agree that the little details were not glossed over in the design team meetings.
Enjoyed watching this, considering buying one
Thank you

Just saw a video of a cx30 in malaysia where the owner had that black cladding painted as the body color.. hmmm.. that was interesting!

Great vid, once again! Love this car and your reports. I hope for one at the 3 year mark too.
Great observations James!

Thanks for the video, I wonder if you could make one about your leasing process with this car.
This is my dream car. Wish the interior and the boot were bigger, and the rear door would be leather like in the front.
I have the Turbo PP so everything you said plus 250hp!
I am digging your channel.
I love my cx30...when I try explain to friends why I'm buying another mazda and start talking about connection between car and me I just got weird looks from them..and question " what u on about " 😆
Which do you prefer CX-30 or CX-5?

Mazda Created An LED Turn Signal That Beats Like A Human Heart
7:20 why are you laughing when you say that you think it is an awesome vehicle?
The CX3 looks much more elegant outside, CX30 has that frog look which is not that appealing
If you drive it during long rides at night 🌉 you appreciate it more ☺️
