Before I would say anything about Bayne, I believe that with the right equipment, Bayne could be a underdog contender. Here's what wasn't said in the video. Bayne was released from Diamond Waltrip Racing sometime in 2010 and got pick up from Roush later that year. He would run full time in the Nationwide series but would not run completely full time until 2013 due to health and sponsorship problems in his first two seasons for Roush.

@V.V FC10 exactly, what's worse is that his teammates are the top of the standings, he missed the playoffs and at had less points than John Hunter Nemechek going into Watkins Glen
I feel like after his Daytona 500 win, the wood brothers and Roush had too much faith in him too fast. He should have spent 4 full time seasons in the nationwide series from 2011-2014 before taking over the 6 car full time in 2015. If that was the case he would have performed so much better and maybe even got 4 more cups series wins before being let go by the team
To answer the question, unfortunately, yes. Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500 but never really did much afterwards in Cup. The biggest thing was he got lyme disease and later multiple sclerosis which stunted his growth as a race car driver due to the recovery time and Bayne was unable to put together a solid career after the tick bite, and the downfall of Roush after Kenseth left really hurt Bayne's development. Its hard to say what kind of driver Bayne could have been had he hooked on to a good team like the Toyotas or Furniture Row or had Hendrick engines. I think he could do what Kenseth did at Gibbs or Truex at Furniture Row, he just wasn't in the right spot unlike his Daytona 500 where he did everything right which was simple stay in line and push.
That's a thing a lot of people seem to forget: Trevor spent a very large chunk of time out of the race car shortly after his Daytona 500 win due to medical issues. This no doubt cost him a lot of experience. Add to that rotten luck and shitty equipment and you just sit and wonder "what if..."
You know honestly how nascar is now, you could've never know how good he really is due to him not being in top equipment in cup. Ik good drivers make due with bad equipment and that what makes them good but I really wish nascar would change it up to make it where everyone kinda honestly spent the same and the field was extremely equal. Like honestly I would love it if Joe Gibbs stuff wasn't much better than like Star Coms stuff because that would really show us who is the best.
It's not just spending, it's set up moreso. Having a car that makes the brakes stay just that degree cooler, engine run just a small bit cooler, more refined suspension and steering adjustment will make a major change.
I met Trevor two times, once was a week before the 2011Daytona 500 and he was the first driver I had ever met. A few years later I met him again. Trevor may suck but he is up there for one of the nicest driver. Corey LaJoie has a great personality and he sucks so I guess nice drivers suck. Even though Alex Bowman is really nice...... can't say the same thing about Kyle Busch.
I don't know if it's really fair to call Trevor Bayne a bust so much as when he went full-time in Cup, the equipment at Roush just went downhill! His performance is probably not much better than what Trevor has done this year, and he's a seasoned veteran! If anyone is a bust now, it's that whole Roush team!
In 2010 at Bristol before the weekend race we have this event on State Street where all the drivers meet and bring their vehicles/set up and sign autographs. It's a big event every year. Me and my dad raced late models at a local track and local short tracks get a little bit of recognition at these events. Anyway, we set up and this guy shows up with a couple people and mentions he's a driver and would love to have a spot to sign autographs at. We had no idea who he was but said sure! The more the merrier. That guy who needed a spot next to us was Trevor Bayne lol. He was so nice I remember.
Dude Bayne had a Heath problem that's why he didn't race as much or win no way in fuckin hell was it Bayne' s fault or Roush and Woodbrothers racing there was nothing he could do God damnit I see Trevor Bayne as a guy who even tho was going through ruff times could still make a dream come true and win on one of the hardest ass tracks in Nascar and not only did he do it at Daytona he did it at the Daytona 500. P.S take the video down Edit A year later: Sorry for pass me going insane, I was young, stupid and was a having a tuff time at school, sorry Black Flags Matter
justin dinkins I know but what I am trying to say is that If Bayne was lucky enough to be in better equipment like Hendrick, Stewart-Haas, Gibbs, or Penske He probably would have had a better career
Trevor Bayne deserved a better chance than Roush. Ford itself was lacking until Penske switched back to Ford when Dodge left in 2012, but Roush was never competitive after Carl Edwards left. Trevor had made some bad calls pulling up in front of drivers, but setting that aside many wrecks weren't his fault, and I think If he'd raced for any other B level team aka Ganasi, Childress, JTG Daughtry, he might have faired better I'm my opinion
Trevor Bayne is still one of my favorite drivers of all time because he sent me an autograph when my pappaw was in the hospital and his sister in law was his nurse.
I disagree. Trevor is a really good race driver! He just wasn’t on a good team. It sucked seeing him caught up in wrecks majority of the time, but he’s still got the skills or he would’ve never been there. Hell Matt Kenseth didn’t even do well in the car and he’s supposedly one of the best, right? Exactly. Trevor needs a chance with a team that could provide much more
Gotta take into consideration though he was crap in Xfinity too, he took over the championship winning car from the previous 2 years of Ricky Stenhouse Jr and 2015 championship winning team of Chris Buescher. Only way he would be in race winning contention is if you put him in JGR equipment.
@Black Flags Matter I feel like a lot of people didn't see him as a bust because of Danica crashing when she was racing in cup. Then when she left, I think more people realized how big of a bust Trevor Bayne really was. Heck, I thought he was the "Crash King" after Danica left. Your video proves why Bayne busted out and will probably not race for another top tier cup team again. Also, I think you should make a Danica Bust video if you haven't already. She failed to live up to the hype and I also felt like she got rushed into the cup series/should've stayed in the Xfinity series longer.
Derrike is an amazing marketer and businessman, doesn't burn bridges, that's why Mane and Tail and Bojangles came back. Very smart with his money. The Daytona 500 combined with his savvy business sense is why he's lasted so long
I am finding a common thread in the “bust” videos. Teams tried to move these guys up to Cup too fast. They needed to stay in Busch, Nationwide, Xfinity, or whatever you call it longer. It’s just too much too soon and too high of a learning curve. Early fluke success and the media frenzy only makes its worse.
Most of the wrecks were not his fault. He was in the wrong place when it happened. Second, blown engines and all that is not his fault either. 3rd, his health also did not helped when he missed some races because of MS.

I didn't think he was that good to begin with at the nationwide/xfinity level or the cup level. The 2011 500 win was in my mind a fluke as he never bothered to try to make his way through the field or anything. On the xfinity/nationwide side of it, if he stayed there for more than 2 years at MWR before Glenn and Lennard Wood picked him up, he would of had enough experience to make the transition I think and maybe be competitive and a race winning contender I think 🤷♂️
Wins one race and everyone thinks he Jesus.....I've honestly never liked him because of him being way, way, way too overrated. Awesome video BFM! I know you have been waiting to make this one for a while now
I worked at Roush during these times. Trever was a hell of a kid. He was having some vision issues towards the end. And Ryan reed brought more money to the table. Plus after jacks last plane crash he lost control of the company. We struggled as a Company hard then and still haven’t recovered.
You can’t call him a bust when he never had any expectations to win races he would of never gotten this far most likely if he wouldn’t never won in 2011 and matt kenseth is running 20th with same equipment he’s not running any better
i used to be big into nascar but kinda stopped because of the crowd it attracts so i really appreciate the rap instrumentals in the background for some reason😂

Y’know, watching a few of your bust videos, I’m learning something. The presenters are really good at making it sound like a driver wrecking is not their fault
I remember watching that Daytona 500 like it was yesterday, and me and my mom, and dad were as giddy as a kid on Christmas morning. But to play devil's advocate, he didn't get the high quality equipment at RFR that he deserved.... What a shame for his last four years at RFR

His 500 wasn’t luck, he was fastest the entire weekend by a lot.
You forgot that he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
He protecc
He attacc
But most importantly
He heads off of the tracc.
Fun Fact: in NASCAR Heat 3, on my championship season, Trevor Bayne somehow won the fall Talladega race.
It’s “nice guys finish last” dude, not “only good guys finish last” lol. Otherwise very good video, was waiting for this one!
Who’s here after his new ride with Gibbs?
Anyone get this after Bayne’s return to Xfinity?
NASCAR BUSTS: Derrick Cope, Justin Labonte
Gone too soon: Tim Richmond
Also gone too soon: Davey Allison
Alan Kuluwicki? (I’m not sure how you spell his last name)
P.S take the video down
Edit A year later: Sorry for pass me going insane, I was young, stupid and was a having a tuff time at school, sorry Black Flags Matter
I think this year someone should give him an xfinity ride i bet he would be pretty good
Well...
@@_TheMad0ne_ I knew it all along
Trevor Bayne - "The greatest one-hit wonder in NASCAR Cup Series history"
Derrike Cope: "That's cute."
To Derrike’s credit, he did win 2 races
Cope won Dover later that year in 1990.
If Bayne had been in better equipment He would have had a better Cup series career
Yeah it sucks that no one would give him a good ride
Yeah it does suck
At the time, he wasn’t going anywhere. Wood Brothers was his peak. He couldn’t go anywhere that had good equipment after 2014.
justin dinkins I know but what I am trying to say is that If Bayne was lucky enough to be in better equipment like Hendrick, Stewart-Haas, Gibbs, or Penske He probably would have had a better career
I wasn't expecting a bust video on Trevor Bayne anytime soon
Exactly. Trevor needs a chance with a team that could provide much more
just one thing you forgot to mention the man is dealing with MS , you could not drive a stock car half as good as he could and him
He has MS. That really affects his driving ability.
My mom has MS, so I can attest that is a true fact.
I agree. That was never pointed out in this video.
Trevor bayne is talented, problem is he is racing for roush
And was racing part time with the woods
The Random UA-cam Channel95 true
@@Trevor42721 and that was before they had a Penske alliance
So they weren't great
@@caleykruse9852 even when bayne was racing for WBR i think they had a Roush alliance lol
"Cant ride the coattails of his Daytona 500 win." Then whats Derrick Cope doing?
Derrike is an amazing marketer and businessman, doesn't burn bridges, that's why Mane and Tail and Bojangles came back. Very smart with his money. The Daytona 500 combined with his savvy business sense is why he's lasted so long
He won at Dover later that year so what are you talking about
Ryan Newman got this car in the chase in 2019. Let that sink in.
At least Ryan Newman is making the 6 car competitive which is a good sign
I am finding a common thread in the “bust” videos. Teams tried to move these guys up to Cup too fast. They needed to stay in Busch, Nationwide, Xfinity, or whatever you call it longer. It’s just too much too soon and too high of a learning curve. Early fluke success and the media frenzy only makes its worse.
Most of the wrecks were not his fault. He was in the wrong place when it happened. Second, blown engines and all that is not his fault either. 3rd, his health also did not helped when he missed some races because of MS.

1998 was badass
Good driver with poor equipment and has also been diagnosed with MS. Bust? I think not.
You forgot when he DNQ’d his first race in the #6 car. Qualified 38th purely on speed and was sent packing
A 500 win in his second start, and after that is just one big "Oof"
I didn't think he was that good to begin with at the nationwide/xfinity level or the cup level. The 2011 500 win was in my mind a fluke as he never bothered to try to make his way through the field or anything. On the xfinity/nationwide side of it, if he stayed there for more than 2 years at MWR before Glenn and Lennard Wood picked him up, he would of had enough experience to make the transition I think and maybe be competitive and a race winning contender I think 🤷♂️
If he had gotten at least another team like say Stewart or gansssi I think he would win at least 10
Trevor Bayne is the epitome of someone who peaked too soon
Daytona 500 in his 2nd start fucking hell haha
Wins one race and everyone thinks he Jesus.....I've honestly never liked him because of him being way, way, way too overrated. Awesome video BFM! I know you have been waiting to make this one for a while now
Running's Racing exactly. Winning Daytona that early was the best and worst thing to happen to him
I worked at Roush during these times. Trever was a hell of a kid. He was having some vision issues towards the end. And Ryan reed brought more money to the table. Plus after jacks last plane crash he lost control of the company. We struggled as a
Company hard then and still haven’t recovered.
This is so good! Great job! Can't wait for more!
You can’t call him a bust when he never had any expectations to win races he would of never gotten this far most likely if he wouldn’t never won in 2011 and matt kenseth is running 20th with same equipment he’s not running any better
Newman though.
i used to be big into nascar but kinda stopped because of the crowd it attracts so i really appreciate the rap instrumentals in the background for some reason😂
Still won the Daytona 500 and if you win that race you live on forever.... he’s better in xfinity
He got a ride for Joe Gibbs Racing’s Xfinity series. I can’t wait to see how he does
I think Bayne will have success in the future.
Love your videos dude keep up the work!
Trevor Bustpain. Great video btw. I LOVE your channel. Can't wait for more videos.
Roush was junk. Would have won Indy if McDowell didn’t mess up. Runs with JGR this year show it was the cars at RFR
The best win that Trevor Bayne ever got in his Cup Series was the 2011 Daytona 500
Idk maybe it’s just me but it kinda seems like he was rushed to Cup too early but even then he wasn’t spectacular in xfinity either. Curious to know your guys thoughts are on this one
Trevor Bayne was proof anyone who qualified at Daytona or Talledega have a shot at winning. After he won I never saw Daytona 500 as the big race
I watched Derick Cope win it when I was a kid and had the same feeling.
Y’know, watching a few of your bust videos, I’m learning something. The presenters are really good at making it sound like a driver wrecking is not their fault
You can fix any car by putting tires on it.
bayne just needs a good car like martin truex jr or brad keselowski etc
J cole background music nice
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREVOR BAYNE!
20 YEARS OLD!
Man won the Daytona 500 in his second start, on his birthday
He's probably the most accomplished "bust" in NASCAR
Bayne has said in the past he was just gunna push Regan actually lol
Of you really think of it, most of the wrecks aren't his fault. Yeah maybe a couple but not every single one.
I remember watching that Daytona 500 like it was yesterday, and me and my mom, and dad were as giddy as a kid on Christmas morning. But to play devil's advocate, he didn't get the high quality equipment at RFR that he deserved.... What a shame for his last four years at RFR

@@tylerpuszczewicz2535 true but think this, he won while driving for red bull and also he won in 2013 for MWR while driving part time and i think he had great talent but his blood clots screwed up his career.
