That’s the problem really everyone thinks they’ve found the next Jeff Gordon/Jimmie Johnson when really they haven’t. Those drivers are a one in a million.
I first saw Aaron Fike race in a midget back in 1997 when he was 15 years old. Was a nice kid and very talented racer. From what I heard, he injured his shoulder as a senior in high school playing baseball. Like so many others, he was prescribed an opioid pain killer and became addicted. I think of him often, glad he's been able to turn his life around.
Honestly, Aaron Fike was built to be an Open Wheel driver and not a Stock Car driver. As a person, I am glad to see Aaron Fike recovered great and is doing well! Don’t do drugs, kids.....
Yes, He was just like JJ Yeley and the late Jason Leffler. All three were great sprint and midget drivers but couldn't get a gasp of a heavier pavement car.
Yeah, if he had just held the wheel straight in that first wreck, he just coulda spun that jackass pinching him and kept his car intact. It's an open wheel instinct to try to keep off of the other competitors when they're scrabbling for grip, but in a stock car, that's a perfect opportunity to take out competition.
