I have been seeing David since 1976...just saw him at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. He is still the most entertaining, talented and diversified artist...Never disappoints!! Happy 50 years of entertaining your fans!

Maybe we saw each other there. First started taking the bus there from Lodi, as a kid, to see James Bond movies. Later, the best concerts ever (except for some at Winterland).

It's even more incredible for me to have a chance to converse with someone that went there in the 70's. I was growing up in NY State, never had a way to get down there but I had heard about the place all the time on the radio.

My all time favorite band, bar none. Seen David and the band twice live and saw David solo twice live, all back in the 70s. Left me in awe every time. I'm a fan of many genres of music and this is the one band that does them all to absolute perfection. Incredible.

David is the most interesting musician ever, his multi talents and great stage presence is so awesome. I have been lucky enough to have seen him many times. He played a cool little dance hall in Omaha called The Music Box an old 40's dance hall. This is where I first saw him with this band, I went straight to heaven. viva David Bromberg

In the 70's, I was in my teens when Bromberg used to tour my west coast home yearly; saw him always then, so sad when he stopped touring because of a lack of fan support of all things!
I still listen to his albums to this day with my favorite being the early "Bandit In A Bathing Suit," although "Reckless Abandon" and "Midnight On The Water" receive regular play as well.

I count myself as extraordinary fortunate to have grown up in/at a time when this was the caliber of music showing up at our college campuses...
as well as having parents and siblings that encouraged me to open my mind to virtually all genres of music...
although it did end up become a rather expensive and difficult and heavy to move pastime. 😹

@@GDTRFBBB Mr. Bromberg is held in very high esteem among world class musicians. How could you even suggest he is underrated?

    • @GDTRFBBB
      @GDTRFBBB 3 роки тому

      @@brianlane9534 Dude, you are clueless!
how many "World Class Musicians" make up Your make pretend poll?
How many "World Class Musicians" Actually exist? Are you reffering to a specific genre? A specific Time period. A speicific geographic location?
Now multiply that number by , oh i don't know... A billion perhaps?
Thats how many people probably never heard of him or ever listened to any of his music or collaborations. Let alone saw him perform live, Purchased any of his music or that could pick him out in a line up or two people!.
I will give you all the time you require to produce Just one, so called "World Class Musician" who mentions Bromberg in any context or list. Ex. A list of Influences, A list of Music you must hear. A "desert island disc" list... Anything.
Over the decodes i have read or listened to numerous interviews given by musicians that i consider to be Top 100 or even top 500 in their genre, Style, time period etc.
That list, im sure has at least a few that you might consider "World Class" And have never heard a single one mention Bromberg. (Not even ones who he's played with) as an influence on them or Somebody you must listen to or see etc.
Bromberg is a Great talent. That's Not the debate. Being "Under or Overrated "does not mean yours or even my opinion of the person. But that of the majority of the (Music Listening) World. To which, sadly, he is not even a footnote to a footnote.
That's How I can Claim he is is underrated.
Again, I really don't think you know the meaning of or understand what "Underrated" means . Especially in the context of music

Gotta love his songs that tell a story! I love these kinds of songs! He is really great at this, not only the background music, but his front music … his words are great! A lot of words we had to learn in high school but never use … but I just love his stories with the background music … makes him really entertaining! He even lets his band get in the act! Great! They have so much fun, makes it fun for me seeing this kind of entertainment! Been listening to his music since the 70s .. really great music!

Taco Gillespie Oh,yeah. I was working for Z93 radio at 255 Peachtree...and I was at that show--became a lifetime Bromberg fan. Tried to get him for a gig at UGA about 1995. He was back in Chicago, selling high-end fiddles, and seemed tired of the road--but seemed glad to know his fans missed him. An outstanding talent that gets nowhere near the recognition he deserves. Glad to hear he's got a new band and back on the road. Keep on jukin', David.

Saw a bunch of DB shows, electric full band, & acoustic, in the late 1970's through the 1990's in PA. Had not seen this clip before. No trumpet-- Peter Ecklund must've been away. Didn't realize DB had funked up Danger Man this early after releasing it straight up on Wanted Dead or Alive album in 1974. Dick Fegy is gone, long live Dick Fegy-- what a sideman to have in your band.
