- Spectacular ISLE OF SKYE: Our journey to SCOTLAND'S MOST FAMOUS ISLAND (Part 1)// Hello everyone, We just returned from an amazing trip! We finally visited Scotland's most famous island: The Isle of Skye! We stayed for 3 nights on Skye and tried to see as much as possible. We split our journey in 2 parts and stayed in the Trossachs & Loch Lomond National Park on our way to Skye. Just before we reached Skye, we visited Eilean Donan Castle, a real fairytale castle.
On top of our list on Skye was the iconic Old Man of Storr in the North. We couldn't recommend this hike any more highly. You will be rewarded with amazing views and one of the most photographed landmarks in the world. We also visited The Quiraing, another landmark with amazing views as well as the Fairy Glen. Legend has it that it was created by fairies. We hope you like the video. Kirsten & Joerg

Oh yes @VionaBee, I totally agree with all you've said. Kirsten and Joerg are such magnificent video makers aren't they. (And I feel like The national trust should employ and use their videos in advertisements too. Or tourism UK. What they both bring to tourism is essential. I'm in Australia and I just want to hop on a plane and follow these delightful places Kirsten and Joerg show us. I'm sure so many around the world feel that way too. 😊
@@mrdarcy9379 You are so kind, thank you! Sadly the National Trust no longer wants UA-camrs to film at their places. We even booked a NT wonderful cottage earlier this year (that we paid for) and asked whether we could share it which they didn't want. It would have been free advertising for them. We were fans for decades but sadly had to end our membership.
@@KirstenJoerg oh goodness, I have to say this is the National Trust's loss!! What you both did for them was phenomenal. Well, whoever made that decision against your filming their historical buildings is to the NT detriment. Indeed.
I hope that Tourism UK is going to see All the content of your videos then and realise what a wonderful addition to British Tourism worldwide your videos will be to them . The Isle of Skye!!! My Scottish ancestral home! They were McLeods and fisherfolk there eventually emigrating abroad. I so enjoyed this and hope I can visit myself someday! Thank you for taking us all along! ❤️

I had always wanted to visit Skye, since I was a child, and had the opportunity to go a few years ago with my husband. I don’t know exactly what my childhood expectations were, but I was ENCHANTED! I was glad to have finally decided to go and lucky that it exceeded all my childhood hopes and dreams!

I love your videos. I live in the south of New Zealand where the Scots settled. I can see why they loved this land, especially in the south. We have very very similar landscapes to what you have just shown.

The timing of this is amazing as I’ve just been researching my Scottish ancestry. Also, as a child I used to draw pictures all the time of a castle exactly like Eilean Donan having never even seen or heard of such thing. We had the wonderful opportunity to see Skye about 18 years ago -- the weather was perfectly clear. We were told it was very rare to see Scotland from Skye. It was like being in a watercolor study of shades of blue. This was a great video.

Just came back from Scotland - was on the East side a few miles outside of Forfar. You must have been there the same time, the weather was really good bbqs and sitting out every evening although did get a few mozzie bites. The Isle of Skye looks wonderful, on the agenda for my next visit.

Oh! My tea time is so enriched with your videos! Scotland is so lovely. I am particularly appreciative of the use of vibrant color in the decorative furnishings. It seems so many in my country have discarded the palate of anything other than Grey, black, or taupe tones with accents in white or other bits of color. I quite prefer the beauty of the room that is alive with it.😊❤🫖☕️

Don't forget the weather can be awful for months on end; colour helps to feel cosy and enveloped.

Lock Ard is so beautiful. We stayed at Forest Hills for a week the first time we were in Scotland and it was unforgettable. We also had spectacular weather during the last week of March. (Folks thought we brought it with us.) The view from our balcony reminded us of home as it was so similar to the view out our bedroom window - minus the loch.
Mother Earth is just so beautiful no matter where you happen to be. Let's try to take the best care of her we can.

I had a thistle growing in my garden. Neighbors complained about its weedy look. I trimmed it back to one stem and shaped the top into a ball. No more complaints and a few compliments!
Beautiful video , so glad you got such good weather. I hear the cuckoo bird every year , it reminds me summer is on the way. As a matter of interest I checked to see if any Star Wars films used Skye as a filming location. The only thing I could find was ,The Lake District, Cumbria’s lakes and fells were used as the setting of the planet Takodana in The Force Awakens and Puzzlewood, Gloucestershire, in the Forest of Dean, was another location used in the The Force Awakens and several locations in and around London. The Scottish highlands are rumoured to be the location of some new Star Wars films due to come out in 2023.

@@KirstenJoerg That IS a drag. We never experienced them at all. Lavender essential oil repels mosquitoes…I wonder if it works to repel midges?
@@elizabethmcleod246 We had a special spray but it didn't work on me. They were really really bad this time. I have at least 100 bites, it's awful.
