The room with three beds reminds me of an English fairytale, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” 🐻Goldilocks lay down on each of the beds belonging to the three bears. Daddy Bear’s bed was too hard, Mama bear’s bed was too soft, but Baby Bear’s bed was “just right.” I hope that your father had the “just right” bed. 🛌

Greetings from the Hudson Valley of New York. It is a sunny autumn day here, the type that can magically transport one to earlier, simpler times, just what your travels through the UK inspire. I live in a tiny hamlet overlooking the magnificnet Hudson River north of Manhattan. A village whose Victorian and Revolutionary homes evoke times past. A road called River Road snakes through the village and is the only thoroughfare connecting to the village north. As my husband and I, who are avid followers of yours, watched today, we thought how wonderful it would be if someone were to document the surrounding valley as your videos so beautifully do; however, sadly here in the U.S., despite the magnificent natural abundance, not much effort went into preserving the historical architecture that once dotted the countryside. I lived in the UK for many years; so, viewing your videos provides a connection to a place and time I sorely miss. You both appear to be the lovliest of people, which if there were more like you, woud make this world such a simipler and kinder place.

Alles wirkte auf mich sehr klösterlich und ich konnte die ganze Zeit nur daran denken, wie sehr man dort wohl im Mittelalter gefroren haben muss...😉 Wie immer waren eure Aufnahmen wunderbar und bei einigen Einstellungen in Wells, mit dem Blick über das Wasser zur Kirche, dachte ich, dass ihr mit der Kamera Bilder malt...ihr habt so ein gutes Auge für die malerischsten Flecken! Dies klingt mal wieder wie Lobhudelei, doch ihr habt es euch verdient - es ist ja nicht nur das Sehen und Dokumentieren ( das ließe sich auch stromlinienförmiger tun 🙄), es ist der gekonnte Schnitt, gepaart mit eurer Liebe zu England. Sicher investiert ihr finanziell auch einiges und ich hoffe für euch, dass sich die Arbeit auch in diesem Bereich für euch lohnen möge und der Kanal weiter wächst und gedeiht ❤ Vielen Dank für die "positive Vibes" in jedem Beitrag - wir alle können dieser Tage mehr davon gebrauchen. So so gerne liebe Gabi! Ja, es ist natürlich etwas anderes, wenn man dort dauerhaft leben würde (was ohnehin wahnsinnig teuer wäre wegen der Heizkosten) aber es war total schön in so einem historischen Gebäude. Mit dem Gurney Ofen war es richtig warm. Ohne die Fußbodenheizung in der Great Hall wäre es bestimmt total kalt gewesen. Vielen tausend Dank für deine lieben Worte, das bedeutet uns wirklich sehr viel. Ganz liebe Grüße

We've stayed at The Old Hall as well and it was so heartwarming to see again it through your eyes. A highlight of our stay was visiting The Blessed Virgin Mary Church next door, it was quite magnificent and whilst perhaps it doesn't quite compete with Wells Cathedral, it was pretty special. I do hope you managed to see it as well as Wells!
Absolutely delightful from beginning to end! Once again, I just had to watch the heart warming adventure of your stay at this charming English Manor. Along with your visit to the enchanting Croscombe Village & the lovely City if Wells, with its majestic Cathedral! It was still really wonderful, even the second time around! On top of that, your dinners at the George Inn still looked really scrumptious as well! Thanks again for sharing this delightful experience!

The Manor house in Coscombe was lovely. And the tour through Wells (what a grand cathedral indeed; and the choir sounded magnificent), the Vicar’s Close was charming (what a place to live!) and the Bishop’s Palace and gardens and home were very interesting and beautiful (I loved to see the dining hall all set up for dinner). It was very sweet to see you walking along with your father through the various places, Kirsten.
Ah Kirsten and Joerg this is beautiful and soo so appreciated! You must spend a fortune staying at all these wonderful places all to give us some escapism. Oh, this took me back to my wonderful stay in Wells this past spring! I stayed for the month of April. So much to see in that area & Cheddar Gorge (where your next video will be based?) was truly awe-some! My daughter & I ate FAR too much cheese while there! Underfloor heating or not, all I keep thinking is how cold it must be there! Interesting but not warm and comfortable enough for me! Glad you both enjoyed it though, and you say it was warm! I’m very surprised.I’ve never seen or heard of a Gurney stove before, I bet when all that cast iron heats up, the heat that throws off must be terrific.

Nice blog. Wells is beautiful. First visited 50 odd years ago with an in law who wanted to see the Cathedral as relatives were buried in it and we found the tombstones in the middle of it. Also went up the tower. Cheddar Gorge too by the looks of it.

Liebe Kirsten und lieber Joerg, vielen Dank für euer neuestes Video! Der Wohnbereich ist ja wirklich " impressive" but not really inviting to me. Gut, dass die Küche etwas gemütlicher anmutete. Alles wirkte auf mich sehr klösterlich und ich konnte die ganze Zeit nur daran denken, wie sehr man dort wohl im Mittelalter gefroren haben muss...😉
Wie immer waren eure Aufnahmen wunderbar und bei einigen Einstellungen in Wells, mit dem Blick über das Wasser zur Kirche, dachte ich, dass ihr mit der Kamera Bilder malt...ihr habt so ein gutes Auge für die malerischsten Flecken! Dies klingt mal wieder wie Lobhudelei, doch ihr habt es euch verdient - es ist ja nicht nur das Sehen und Dokumentieren ( das ließe sich auch stromlinienförmiger tun 🙄), es ist der gekonnte Schnitt, gepaart mit eurer Liebe zu England. Sicher investiert ihr finanziell auch einiges und ich hoffe für euch, dass sich die Arbeit auch in diesem Bereich für euch lohnen möge und der Kanal weiter wächst und gedeiht ❤
Vielen Dank für die "positive Vibes" in jedem Beitrag - wir alle können dieser Tage mehr davon gebrauchen. Eure Videos sind wie kleine, helle Lichter in finsteren Zeiten.

So so gerne liebe Gabi! Ja, es ist natürlich etwas anderes, wenn man dort dauerhaft leben würde (was ohnehin wahnsinnig teuer wäre wegen der Heizkosten) aber es war total schön in so einem historischen Gebäude. Mit dem Gurney Ofen war es richtig warm. Ohne die Fußbodenheizung in der Great Hall wäre es bestimmt total kalt gewesen. Vielen tausend Dank für deine lieben Worte, das bedeutet uns wirklich sehr viel. Ganz liebe Grüße

We've stayed at The Old Hall as well and it was so heartwarming to see again it through your eyes. A highlight of our stay was visiting The Blessed Virgin Mary Church next door, it was quite magnificent and whilst perhaps it doesn't quite compete with Wells Cathedral, it was pretty special. I do hope you managed to see it as well as Wells!
Absolutely delightful from beginning to end! Once again, I just had to watch the heart warming adventure of your stay at this charming English Manor. Along with your visit to the enchanting Croscombe Village & the lovely City if Wells, with its majestic Cathedral! It was still really wonderful, even the second time around! On top of that, your dinners at the George Inn still looked really scrumptious as well! Thanks again for sharing this delightful experience!

The Manor house in Coscombe was lovely. And the tour through Wells (what a grand cathedral indeed; and the choir sounded magnificent), the Vicar’s Close was charming (what a place to live!) and the Bishop’s Palace and gardens and home were very interesting and beautiful (I loved to see the dining hall all set up for dinner). It was very sweet to see you walking along with your father through the various places, Kirsten.

Oh, this took me back to my wonderful stay in Wells this past spring! I stayed for the month of April. So much to see in that area & Cheddar Gorge (where your next video will be based?) was truly awe-some! My daughter & I ate FAR too much cheese while there! Underfloor heating or not, all I keep thinking is how cold it must be there! Interesting but not warm and comfortable enough for me! Glad you both enjoyed it though, and you say it was warm! I’m very surprised.I’ve never seen or heard of a Gurney stove before, I bet when all that cast iron heats up, the heat that throws off must be terrific.
It was really cosy and warm. The Gurney stove gives an amazing heat. The bathroom was even too toasty for me haha.

The interiors of the manor house, so well done, especially how cottage elements were so beautifully preserved. The tracery windows, arch doors, soaring ceilings. The Gurney stove too. When you took us to Wells and the cathedral and surrounds it was enthralling. A watch - again episode for me! (I'm interested to look up the 2015 film you mentioned). Nice blog. Wells is beautiful. First visited 50 odd years ago with an in law who wanted to see the Cathedral as relatives were buried in it and we found the tombstones in the middle of it. Also went up the tower. Cheddar Gorge too by the looks of it.
