I recently spent a week in Grand Cayman yet didnt step foot on 7 Mile Beach and don't regret it. It looks gorgeous but theres so many small unpopulated beaches that were amazing. Scott's Cove, Rum Point, Barefoot Beach, Collier's Beach...et al
Hello! My husband and I just wanted to say thank you! We watched your video and decided to spend our shore day at Tillie's. Before our vacation we made reservations for 11:00 the day we would be in port. We got there around 9:00. The staff at Tillie's was amazing and because it was a slower they allowed us to sit on their cozy furniture for the morning until our lunch and enjoy the breath taking view. We actually ended up eating both breakfast and lunch there 😂 If it wasn't for your video we would have never found this gem!
That is fantastic! We are really glad that you got to experience Tillie's and had a great time. It truly is a beautiful place and the service is great!
Omg yes yes we very enoyed and have good time, we love the food at Tillies peoples so nice and friendly, also our servers helping us call the cab back to the port, once again thks and now we already home back to the reality🫣😳😀
Thank you for this! We will check out Tillie’s during our cruise in March, looks awesome. I see that you all got a ride with your friends back to the cruise port. Was that because you had trouble getting a taxi? Or just bc you have great friends? 😂 I am worried that we will get a ride to Tillie’s and not be able to get a ride back!
We have great friends! If they had not been available we would ask the front desk to call a taxi for us and it should be no problem at all. We always leave extra time at the end of our day to make sure we get back to the port well in advance of the all aboard times. Sometimes we chat with the taxi driver on the way to our destination to see if they can pick us up for the return trip later in the day. They can tell you the how to make return arrangements if you are unsure. You also have the option of walking up Seven Mile Beach to the public beach area where there are plenty of taxis running all day. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the video. I’ll be going to GC for the first time ever in less than two months. We’re thinking about taking a bus to the seven mile beach as well. It seems pretty easy but what about on the way back? You guys hitched a ride with friends but is it as easy to catch a bus ride back to the port? Thanks!!
Taxis are usually readily available in the public beach areas, but we have also asked the hotel or restaurant to call us a taxi. We have never used the bus so we can’t offer any advice on that. We hope you enjoy Grand Cayman as much as we do!
Can anyone just walk through the resort to get to the beach ? What was the name of the resort it’s beautiful so is the water . My family and I are going in March .
The name of the resort was Palm Heights and yes, it is beautiful! There are a number of public beach access points to Seven Mile Beach - we think this one was more for resort or restaurant guests. Tillie's was the name of the restaurant - here are some reviews from Trip Advisor: www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g147365-d16710171-Reviews-Tillie_s-Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html
Perhaps try the Kimpton or Cocolobo for food - and you can rent chairs at the “public beach area” which is nearby. Taxis can take you there from the cruise port. Hope this helps!
We used to frequent a place called Royal Palms but that closed during the pandemic. We checked with our friends who live on Grand Cayman and they said that you can rent chairs at the public beach which is a little further up from Palm Heights. Taxis can take you there as well. They also said there are some food options in that area such as Coccoloba at the Kimptom Hotel. Hope this helps!
Hello, Can you rent chairs and umbrella at Palms Height? We will be arriving by cruise ship and taking the local bus to get to the beach. We haven't been to Grand Cayman in a few years. Thank you
We had chairs on the beach as part of our lunch reservation. However, our friends who live there arranged it for us. You should check with the hotel directly to see exactly what they offer. Here is their website: palmheights.com/
Seven Mile Beach is public and people were walking back and forth all day. The rental beach chairs were further up the beach at the “public beach” area where taxis can drop you off. For us we had a lunch reservation at Tillie’s so we had comfy chairs but not beach chairs per se.
Further up the beach from Tillies - in the area known as the "Public Beach" - would be the bets place to look for that. We brought our own gear so we didn't notice any specific rental locations.
That probably would depend on how busy they are. We were able to as was another viewer who commented that they hung out there. But if it's busy they likely will need the table for other guests. You could always reach out to them to check - contact details are on their website.
Anyone can book a reservation at one of their restaurants, and they often have special events/retreats scheduled throughout the year. Here is the link to their website just in case there is something that aligns with your next trip to Grand Cayman! Enjoy!
Yes, Seven Mile Beach is public. You can walk the full length of it - we went to the governors residence area before we stopped for lunch at Palm Heights.
In our experience Grand Cayman has always been a relatively safe place. But you should do your own checking to see if it’s safe for you - we all have different perspectives. For us, we took a taxi with 6-8 other people from the cruise port so you likely wouldn’t be alone - at least for the taxi ride. We hope this helps - but definitely do some more research to see if it’s safe for your standards and circumstances.
Thank you so much for the video. It’s excellent
We are glad you found it helpful!

We’ve been to a few of those - Rum Point was really nice!
Thank you so much for the suggestion! We are at Tillies now and enjoying it!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!
Great I'll be there in two weeks. Do we need a reservation?

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

We have to taxi to 7 mile beach....beautiful
You can walk - but it is quite a hike to get there! Enjoy the beach!

@@DocksideTravel Thank you for replying! I’m sure we’ll have a great time.
What do you need to make the reservation at Tillies for? Beach chairs or lunch?
Lunch - it can get quite busy there!
Thank you for the video.
We can spend the day at the Palm hotel beach ? How $$$ to use the beach and umbrellas there ?
We went there for lunch only - we spent the morning further up the beach near the Governor’s House.
@@DocksideTravel thank you.

Tks for sharing. Is your friends name Barry by any chance ? Looks like a fella I know.
Your welcome! No, our friend's name isn't Barry.
We are group of family and looking for a beach restaurant. Can you recommend one that rent beach chairs maybe?
Perhaps try the Kimpton or Cocolobo for food - and you can rent chairs at the “public beach area” which is nearby. Taxis can take you there from the cruise port. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the video. Is there a place within walking distance to Palm Heights/Tillies to rent beach chairs & umbrella for the day?

Thanks for the video...do you recommend doing the 200.00 a couple excursion from the ship which includes lunch and a chair or just wing it to Tillies?
Omgggg thank you for this!! How much did u guys pay for taxi per person. Also is Tillies expensive? We live in US
If memory serves correctly we paid $6 pp for the taxi. Here is a link to the Tillie’s menu so you can get an idea of current prices! Hope this helps.

Are the beaches still pretty in this area.
They were when we were there!

can you hangout at tillies beach after you eat or no?

Is anyone able to go to Palm Heights or do you have to pay for a day pass?

No I mean can we just take a taxi there from the port and go on the beach for a few hours? Not interested in the restaurants
Yes, Seven Mile Beach is public. You can walk the full length of it - we went to the governors residence area before we stopped for lunch at Palm Heights.
I have a question
Ok, what’s your question? We may be able to answer.
Is it safe for a single woman to take a taxi to the beach?
In our experience Grand Cayman has always been a relatively safe place. But you should do your own checking to see if it’s safe for you - we all have different perspectives. For us, we took a taxi with 6-8 other people from the cruise port so you likely wouldn’t be alone - at least for the taxi ride.
