  • Immediately after a request to escort an ambulance) from a hospital in The Hague to a hospital in Rotterdam this officer from Team Verkeer Den Haag responds to this call.
    3 officers were already at the hospital (2 motorcycles and 1 by car)
    Usually escorting an ambulance takes 3 officers on motorcycles. In this scenario we decided to use the marked Volvo V70 as command-car. The marked VW Touran followed with the family on board.

    These guys do an amazing job. Sometimes its a job that isn't fully appreciated until you or a family member actually needs their services. Thankfully I live in a country where this is available to all citizens if they are in a critical condition. The people of the Netherlands should feel a collective sense of pride that these bike riders and ambulance drivers go to these lengths to help save lives because as a nation the people have decided it is the right thing to do. I have nothing but admiration for them.

    Great job. Some stupid comments here though. It might seem alien to those in North America but this response is indeed used when a life threatening emergency means an ambulance needs an escort. Even for 'ordinary' citizens. It's called compassion and caring about human life. Not every patient can be flown by helicopter (for physiological reasons in some conditions) or a chopper isn't available at that moment. Furthermore the Police and ambulance service don't present you with a bill at the end. It's called being civilised.

    • @kmr3891
      @kmr3891 5 років тому +8

      Why do you feel the need to attack an entire continent? Police escort ambulances here sometimes as well. Europe does not have some sort of monopoly on that concept and implying that this country is somehow more compassionate than North America in how emergency services operate is an incredibly ignorant thing to do.

      But there is a difference in my opinion: The average german motorist is brought up with the idea that in slow moving traffic, you try to make some room for emergency services. Though you will probably have the same problems as well, this already makes a huge difference. Average Dutch motorists don't use their mirrors that well so they miss out on these occasions most of the time.

    On the highway from 11:00 onwards, it boils my blood how many morons just keep on driving on the middle lane which makes it extremely difficult for people on the left lane to move aside.
    So many people have this stupid tunnel vision where they only look 2 meters ahead of them and either fail to anticipate, or simply don't give a shit about fellow road users.
    If I can, I always pass these moron's from the right. Hopefully that makes them wake up and move to the right lane. Because let's face it: If you don't want to be passed on the right side, then make sure you CAN'T be passed on the right side. If someone passes you, it means you've been driving on the left for too long.

    Man, this ambulance escort is well organized and executed. In my country, an ambulance escort would be carried out with only one police on a bike, but that's quite an issue since they would often get stuck in unexpected traffic. As a result, most bikers in my country would often follow an ambulance and clear the roads until they arrived.

    • @gnawershreth
      @gnawershreth 5 років тому +2

      It's also about the other drivers actually paying attention and respecting the job that police and other emergency services do so they move over ASAP. That's not the case in a lot of places around the world, people are way more concerned with getting to work on time, getting home on time etc. because they're far too selfish.
      You see similar nice videos from other parts of Europe as well, people really seem to have more respect for emergency services and the jobs that they do.

      It's all about traffic education I think. Getting a drivers license in Western Europe is way harder than in Indonesia. (Most) People know how to react in such situations.

But even though it is a serious matter i have to admit that it actually looks still quit fun to be able to just pull off with a motorcycle like that - and this comes from a german who has the autobahn to use :D
