- In this video I will show you how to get a nice fat and melodic TOM sound.
This is my approach on Tom tuning. Enjoy!

Nice job and awesome video! I guess I know to which tuning method you refer to by choosing D A E C ;-) I love this approach. One question: My 16" floor tom is pretty tricky with plenty of flattering overtones (angry cat style) even though I'm using the same batter and reso heads as you do. Is there any hint you can share how to avoid this angry cat sound beside to even everything out?
very good job.
I use the same technique you used with pressure on the head of your 16” floor Tom to get out all the wrinkles out with my bass and floor toms. A guy in marching band a long time ago told me that if you have the right pressure in the center of the head and bring out all the wrinkles and just tune it there it is lowest possible pitch.
So aim for Imperial March tones you say ;) Great video. Thank you for showing both raw and processed sound.

Are you essentially tuning the reso head and the batter head to the exact same pitch? Or is one of the heads a higher pitch than the other?

Hey man great sounding toms.What are the intervals between top and bottom heads in order to get the ;around; the notes you want them to sit?minor 3rds?perfect 4rths?or?Another thing, there has to be an ''OPAAAAAAAA'' moment in your videos... :-)
Vasilis Koskinas hey! I actually try to tune them the same and not really to a special interval. I know some people do that but I rather tune them the same. If feel the Tom sounds louder and longer with this method.
So are you keeping both heads tuned the same? Are you tuning the 10” to a 4D or 3D? Thanks.

What you think of using D drum dial?. I got it and I think is usefull. And easy to use... Should try hard to use a soft mallet and my ear?
Gamma T.C. I know some people like the drum dail and the tunepot but I rather use my ear. you can use the drum dail to get the right tension but you will still have to fine tune each lug by ear. That’s why I skip using such devices and trust my 👂
i needed this. my 2 rack toms sound like shit. my floor tom is in beast mode tho
great video, i love the sound but dont like the over tone I'm assuming I can use moongel or something to help with that.
Yes Moongel or other dampening devices will help with that

(2:50) That's not glue..... Remo's collar shapes to the bearing edge, that's why it cracks when you tune a Remo head.

haha it's not the glue, it's a little step releafing the drumhead, but everybody thinks it is the glue, no shame.
throw drumhead and throw rim too would be better :D
