Rob Brown so I just did a video trying a few different tom tuning methods and spoiler alert this was the easiest and in my opinion the best sounding result too
Man! two of my favorite UA-cam drummers in one comment section. Both your guys' channels help my playing expand on the daily. Thanks for what y'all do.
You guys are both awesome. I went to tune my toms and was just looking for some different ideas 💡 and I said to myself I wonder what the beat down has to say about this! And here I am. 🙏
He's the man. I found him on youtube when I first started drumming and I've been coming back ever since years later. Simple, basic and easy to follow advice, just what all musicians need. Love your work Rob.
My friend you just saved my night. My 10 year old hated his drums and was getting all upset so we watched your video and followed you step by step and that magic was back in his eyes and face. THANK YOU THANK YOU!! You take the fear out of tuning.
I have been playing for 49 years, professionally for 39 of those, and I can say that nobody has cut through the unnecessary complication of tuning better. The great thing about this method is that, if you want to tune your drums to notes, or just higher for jazz, etc., this method still puts them in the perfect place to begin. Rob is right at the top of drum instructors on the internet. Good material presented in an understandable way, through an enjoyable and ingratiating personality. Don't forget to accommodate his request and share his videos!! He deserves it!!

I agree. He’s a funny dude too. I’m only 5 minutes into this video and I know where he’s going with this. He explains it very well for only a 13 minute video.
The only thing I don't like about this is it's proven to me how much time and money I've wasted on tuning gadgets, videos and tuning techniques. I'll never waste my time and money again on getting a great drum sound.
yup . . another thing to watch out for is all the hype with different types of drum shells. I've seen and heard some amazing 1st hand comparisons between started kits and these so-called professional kits made with exotic woods and or made by some BS plywood layering process like DW is shoving down peoples throats . . I have an old 90's yamaha stage custom set and it sounds better than anything DW can create these days. It's all about the tuning . .
Stock Fadi The best sounding bass drum I’ve ever used was from a junk beginner kit I had from when I was a kid (25 yrs ago). Complete with pink house insulation I stapled to the inside for muffling, coated Remo batter (stained yellow from years of storage). A beautiful attack with big deep tone and sound. Lol I have no idea why that piece of junk sounded so good compared to my new kits bass drum.
Bottom line: Rob's method works like a charm. Toms tuned in 10 mins, and sound is awesome. Thank you! I ran into a tiny problem on the first try tuning Rob's way, and I want to share it. I made the skins finger tight, but there were only very small ripples that disappeared before I had even touched all the lugs. Turns out I had finger tightened too much, and this alone made some of the ripples disappear. On second try I finger tightened just so the lugs barely resisted turning, and there were the beautiful ripples! So, if you have a problem, maybe you are finger tightening too much.
I haven't drummed in 4 years because I basically gave up on trying to get my cheap kit to not sound horrible...I just tuned my floor tom with your method and the magic is back. I can't thank you enough.
I'm a 44 year old first time drummer and just got my first kit. Spent an hour dicking around trying to get my toms sounding right. Watched your video, applied your method, and got it perfect first time. Your snare video was a massive help too. Thanks heaps.
I was recently hired to teach at a local music store. Walked in the first night and they had 2 low budget kits set up complete with original factory heads. Amazingly, the snares and kicks sounded o.k.; but the toms were beyond awful. I had just seen this tuning video, so I decided to try it out. I tuned 4 toms in 15 minutes and couldn't believe how good they sounded even with those garbage heads on them. Great tip! Thanks, Rob!
I’d never had compliments on my Toms before seeing Rob’s videos a couple years back... now people ask me what my secret is. I simply say a decent set of heads and Rob Brown. Thanks Rob, you’re the man.
I've been tuning my toms using this method since the day you posted your original video and haven't touched my DrumDial or used any other drum-tuning witchcraft since.
well .. basically I agree.. I love this method... but in the studio when rattles come along and snare buzz is a big issue.. then the drum dial is superior to get the perfect pitch.. I CAN tune without.. easy.. but when you are trying to solve a weird resonance issue.. then the dial is perfect!.. Also.. come on.. gaffers tape.. just works.. coating coming off.. never saw that??.. i like moon gel or slapklatz.. but gaffers tape is just time proven and does provide a lot of solutions where gel cant go.. for instance bottom head dampening.. dampening the rear of a ride cymbal.. if you use the right tape it wont leave residue.. unless you leave it on for months.. and then its probably because you want it to stay on :-).. nuff said.. love your videos Rob! Quick,to the point.. and yes.. I use that method too.. going in the studio to track drums for a new record this week.. and this method is always with me.. I do some things a little different, but basically its the same.. it gets me 90% there.
@Jonathan Wheeler What heads are you using? You may have tried this combo, but if not, it's worked for me. Evans G1 coated batter and G1 clear resonant side. Equivalent Remo would be Ambassador coated batter with Clear Ambassador reso. Maybe try a G2 (or Remo Emperor) batter while keeping the G1 on the bottom. Alot of local backline companies in different cities will sell slightly used heads and you can get some different types to try out for little money. Check the bearing edges of your drum, might be something going on there that a head won't fix.
I've been playing drums for about 20 years. I also took a hiatus for 20. Just recently picked up the sticks and a new kit about a year ago. Stumbled across Rob's video channel and been hooked ever since. I've learned more from Rob than any other teacher or lessons I've had. Not only a phenomenal player but just as talented teacher. This tuning video is spot on and works! I feel I'm DEFINITELY a better player after watching his videos and applying his methods. Thanks Rob and groove on!
Man, this is incredible! I’ve been playing for decades. All of that time, regardless of the kit I owned at the time, varying head choices, etc., I’ve always overthought the tuning for the toms. Went as far as to buy a drum dial...which I knew immediately was a waste of money for what I was hoping to accomplish. This method requires none of that and works beautifully. Best of all, it allows me to turn off my OCD and concern that “I’m not doing it right” and just enjoy the sound for what it is...which is brilliant. Thanks, Rob!
Scot , Me too . Got a Tune Bot for Xmas , and now see that it is a waste of money. I need to shut off my OCD. And I only play as a retired old Guy at 70 yo as a Hobby. I resurrected my playing after 50 YEARS ! (1969), and knew Nothing of the Art of drum tuning , different Drum heads, etc. I'm learning thanks to UA-cam. and From nice guys like Rob Brown. I think my problem stems form trying to achieve the sound I hear on recordings, which I have come to realize is manufactured by Sound Engineers. I intend to re-tune my Toms in this fashion. I do look to get the Doooo, Doooo sound that is described by Jared on DRUMEO. I don't like overtones/ringing. I see that Rob uses coated heads on each of the drums. I use G2s coated batter heads with the standard clear single ply Reso heads which came on the drums (PDP Concept Maple Kit). Maybe that is a better option, going with coated Reso heads? Your thoughts are appreciated.
I was lucky enough to find this video at the beginning of my drumming learning process, and I have tuned them like this ever since. When more proficient drummers sit at my drums, they say that they are very well tuned and enjoy playing them, so... This works, man! Thanks a million! You don't know how much you helped me in general, so I hail your effort! 👌👌👌
"There's alot of science and precision that goes into making a drum and by the time you get it to your house, you hit it with a stick" Love how laid back and real you are. Yes everyone this method works!! I was one of those guys humming and haing pitch tuning lugs and thought my toms sounded good until I tried this and BOOM! I won't tune any other way from now on. Thanks Rob!! Subscribed!!
@@viranationscrg8196 I've never played a cheap drum set that wasn't instantly improved by just getting new heads. get those heads and tune them this way!
For you doubters out there: I litterally have never been able to tune drums before this video. Super easy - super efective. Big thumbs up, man. Thanks a lot!
There is no way this man literally taught me how to tune my whole kit in 10 minutes! I have been self taught for 7 years and have played for churches the whole time and I have never had better sounds toms on my drums this is such a stupid simple way to learn how to do this! The reason why people make the big bucks is because people like this man figure out the easiest and most simple ways to do things that are daunting to others. Major major props to you sir thank you for this genius and simple way to do something iv never been able to do before!!
I’ve been using this method for years! I’m super particular about how my drums sound, and was blown away that I wasted so much time many years ago complicating it all.
I have been playing for 55 years and I return to this video year after year just to refresh myself with Rob's technique and to laugh with him over the simplicity of this method. It works! I have shared this video with every drummer I know- pros and amateurs. They all agree- this is the shitzzzz! Love you, my brother!
I have been tuning like this for along time and I'm asked at every gig how I get my toms to sound like I do. I point them to Rob' s channel. @Flannel Daze
So good to come back to this man after so many years and seeing he's still keeping it cool! Back then, the original video helped me approach drum tuning in such a simpler way. Just the other day I was tuning them and my mind went back to the picture of Rob teaching all about the wrinkles. Today I found this update workshop so: THANK YOU, is what I mean.
Rob. I've been playing drums since I was 5 - so now 41 years... I've never really struggled with drum tuning, but always was never completely satisfied with my drum sound.. and was always focused on the perfect tension.. etc.. So I found your (this) video about a week ago... and I have to say... MAGIC!!! so amazing and so completely simple. Thank You!
I began playing drums 6 months ago. Replaced all the heads right away and was able to get a good sound out of the kick and snare right away. The toms put me through hell and back. I tried tuning apps, rim wax, changing heads, even bought the Drumdial for $60. Nothing worked. So I would just practice away on my kick/snare/hat with an occasional crash. I come across Rob's video. I've tried everything else so why not. It can't be this simple. All the other videos out there use the star tightening method, bottom head a little higher/lower than the top head, yada yada yada. I used Rob's method here on both the bottom and top head of each tom. I didn't even fine tune and BAM! Fantastic sound. Like so many things I was COMPLETELY over thinking this. It really is THIS simple. Thank you Rob! Anyone out there want to buy a Drumdial?
After 30 years away from playing, I bought a used 8 piece kit. Tonight I changed the batters and resos on all 6 toms and I used this tuning technique. I am blown away by how awesome the drums sound and how easy this was. I figured this might get me "in range" of the tuning I wanted, but pretty sure I'm right where I want to be with minimal effort. Thanks for this and all your videos. I've learned a lot and you've totally inspired me to play again after a long break.
Just got my first drum kit, at only 55yo. I have played guitar since I was 12. Got a DW Design kit. I was struggling with getting strange overtones, until BOOM! This fixed everything! It sounds AMAZING! Thanks so much for your help!
Dude I've been playing for 28 years now both professionally and for fun. I've played in the United States army band as a precautionist for about 9 years now. This is literally the easiest method I've ever heard of using and it works great. The way I was taught, you go to each opposing lug and a star pattern and get it so the entire head has matching harmonics and then make it match the resonance head. Talk about over complicated and a complete pain in the ass. This is way easier and accomplishes damn near the same thing. Thanks bro.
Once again, you have shown me and others that overthinking doesn't accomplish anything. You have made playing and tuning a Pleasure once again. Thanks for all your videos!
i got my own drum kit like four months ago, it was used and i left the heads on until now, the sound was HORRIBLE but the idea of trying to tune them myself was so daunting i never tried until i broke my bass drum head and HAD to do something, i’ve literally spent two full days trying to figure out the exact right method before finding these videos , youre right it just doesn’t need to be this hard! thank you so much i’m finally getting a good sound of my kit !
ive watched so many videos and tried loads of methods using ears, dials, and even smart phones to try and get the perfect sound. while they all work to an extent, they take ages and are not easy or cheap. your method is the quickest and easiest and works every time and very easy to move tuning without spending hours faffing about
I dread to think how many hours of my life I have wasted tapping drum heads and making tiny adjustments. This is so simple and it works. I’ll never get that wasted time back and neither will anyone else at sound checks or in the studio who’s had to wait for me to stop obsessing about overtones and intervals. Absolute game changer. This is the only tuning video you need to watch.
Rob is the most down to earth drummer on UA-cam. I was watching one video from another drummer about tuning your snare and he was taking the snares off, And the heads off, etc. and I couldn’t take it anymore, so I went to Robs snare tuning video and I had the snare tuned effortlessly! These tuning methods work!! It’s how I tune now and my drums have never sounded better. Rob’s approach to drumming is the same way, keep it simple and concentrate on what works!!
drumeo telling me how to calculate the circumference of my drum head while rob is just telling you to turn the key a few times. i think rob's is a bit easier to understand
Dude you're my HERO! I have tried almost every tuning method over the years and always struggled to get my toms to sound the way I wanted. This method is legit!!!
DUDE!!! I've played guitar for 20 years. I also have had many drumsets but I'm not actually a drummer. I used your snare tuning video for the first time a few weeks ago. I have bought those tension keys, used the iphone app, everything and couldn't tune. I tuned my snares up perfect thanks to you! Will try this tom method soon!
Rob, I've been watching you forever. I literally watched Bob Gatzen (Noble&Cooley, Evans, DrumFrame) do this very thing on my Yamaha Beech Custom in 1999. Blew my MIND.
So glad I found these videos. I've played for 25 years and completely overthought tuning for all 25 of them. This method worked and it worked WELL. Thanks for the superb content, man!
Just tried this after getting pretty frustrated using my old method. This took 10 minutes and I am only using one Trutone dot per drum instead of 4...lol. Thanks for this! Subscribed and liked.
Never ever tune my toms any other way, and like many I've tried all the apps, humming, tapping lugs, all that rubbish. Every year or so I come back to these videos to keep me fresh 🔥🔥🔥thank you Rob!! Making a donation today as I never did over two-three years ago 😎
I didn't just quit drumming, I quit playing music entirely for a decade. When I finally got around to start up again I wasn't satisfied with how the various vocalists we tried interpreted the (my) lyrics and performed our songs. So we got a fantastic drummer and I picked up the microphone. I've done everything from gospel to death metal in the past, so it worked out well. We're in the vicinity of classic, blues inspired late 70s hard rock.
I started gigging at 13 and have for 24 years now. I was traditionally trained to tune star pattern to get the top and bottom head at relative pitch and the toms to relative pitch (4ths or 5ths) of each other. Hours of small tuning. I watched this video and said no way, he is full of bs but needed to reskin a kit and said why not. Had to know he was wrong. Danm I wish i knew this 24 years ago. It works. Follow the advice and you'll be amazed. The toms were a little lower tuned than i usually do but it is seconds to get a slightly higher tone. Thank you Rob!!!!!!
I've been tuning this way for over 15 years and it works great! Easy, fast and not complicated plus the toms usually sound awesome with very little need for additional tuning. Sometimes I will use the Remo-O's / Aquarian Studio Rings for sustain/resinance control in certain situations. I just changed out the heads on my practice kit, as the band members were warming up and tuning. They didn't even realize that I changed out 4 heads and tuned them in about 10 minutes. They were blown away that I was ready to play without making a ton of noise tapping and tuning etc. I saw the first video a year or two ago and was impressed that you made that to show everyone this tuning method. I learned this tuning method from a professional touring drummer many many years ago and was floored when he shared this hack with me. I am sharing this updated video with my drummer friend who's changing out His heads soon. He saw the original and liked it but couldn't remember what channel this was from. Thank you Mr Robert for the great videos and your time to post them.
Your the man! I just replaced the heads, tightened the hardware, applied bearing edge conditioner, and tuned all 4 of my toms, and the base drum in 30 minutes. They sound awesome. Maximum thumpification! Thank you , thank you, thank you!!!!
Just bought my 3-year old son a starter kit and been trying to tune it for 4 HOURS by watching videos and did a half-ass job at that. It was seriously getting on my nerves... ... until I saw your video! I mean, God damn man, I've tuned all the toms in 20 minutes and kick in another 20 and just set it up after! All that's left is the snare and that video of yours is next! :0) A big thanks to you man and all the best!!!
Your guide is AWESOME !!! Instead of 4 hour tuning the whole kit, now it only takes me 15 mins. And also quicker fine tuning. Less tuning, more playing for me. It's TRUE, man !!!
@@XeRo333 I still aren’t happy with how my Tom’s sound but I’m a perfectionist, everyone else says it’s good. It might be because I’m trying to make a 1970’s Ludwig butcher block sound like a modern Gretch kit 😂
Rob, you are a genius. I have literally spent hours tuning my toms with a tunebot, but still never found the sound I am looking for. I followed this video and holy crap my toms sound awesome. When I first saw this tutorial, I was like no way, but low and behold it actually works. I will never easte my time with tuners again. Keep up the great work brother.
You changed my life completely from needing people to tuning my drums to now doing it by myself today I did it for the first time and WOW! I’m impressed on how simple and easy it is thank you so much for this video and teaching us on how to tune.
Rob, I gotta tell you, this method made a believer out of me! I started playing drums in 1974, and I’ve learned the traditional ways of tuning. I’ve even bought (and then resold) some tools for tuning, such as Drumdial. Drum tuning was always a grueling, day long project for me. But when I saw your method, I was skeptical, because of what I had been taught for many years. Today, I was having trouble with my 12” Yamaha Tour Custom tom, and I just couldn’t get it right. So I tried your method, and it worked great! Then I did the other 3 toms and they sounded even better, in much less time than it took to tune them usually, and less trouble too. I even tuned up a small SPL bop kit I bought used for $100 last month and it sounds WAY better then when I tapped and tuned it the usual way. So in short, I tuned 6 toms in less than an hour, and I didn’t lose any brain cells tapping a thousand times and trying to guess whether to raise or lower the pitch at that lug. Thanks so much for sharing this method! 😊
You’re absolutely the best…I’ve been tuning my toms that way for years….I’ve attempted to explain that same tuning method to other drummers….and it goes on deaf ears !
Thank you so much Rob!! I have always dreaded tuning the drums and today I needed to tune them for a conference we have coming up this weekend. After an hour of watching another video on tuning I came across this!! The Lord totally heard my prayer because I was about to cry going back and forth between the batter and resonance head. With your technique I had all 4 Toms and the kick (watched the kick tutorial also) tuned in no time. And they sound so good!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! I’m not going back!! This is the way! ❤
@@krenwregget7667 Jared teaches the same method that he was taught in school - the same method that thousands of drummers were taught. It has nothing to do wtih Jared's marketing skills.
I have been using this method for a few years, and was originally so surprised that it worked. It is my go to method and then I just need to tweak it a bit.
I usually don’t leave any comments but men I have to say I finally was able to get a nice sustain out of my 10” Tom that usually sound choked the second I try to get a higher pitch out of it, you keep it real and down simple. Thanks
Changed my tuning ever since the first video. Now I have peace. Use to spend hours and hours messing with bottom heads, top heads, trying to get certain tones, blah blah blah. Tune the wrinkles out and play em. Done. Wish I would have known this 20 years ago.
Excellent video Rob. Can you make a video talking about sticks?? thick or thin; wood and nylon tips; barrel, tear, oval and how affect your drumming, It could be an interesting topic
Bought some moon Gel after using gaf tape and tissue. The Man's right. A little moon gel works like a champ! Put some on the 12 o'clock and if that isn't enough put a piece on the 9 or 3 o'clock. Now my heads don't look like crap and they sound BETTER!. I'm pretty sure this is the same stuff that you could get at old school zoos. The little slapper toys you throw and pick stuff up with.
So elegantly simple, and now my toms sound better than ever before. I had been dreading changing my tom heads for three years, but now I'm cured. Thanks Rob!
I have been using this method on my Evans Hydraulics with G1 resos and I'll tell you what.... it's foolproof! There's a huge difference in relational resonance between the Hydraulic and G1 and this method really helps in my situation because I play live 90% of the time. Tuning this way really helps to mitigate the sympathetic resonance coming from other instruments... particularly, the bass. I can do a quick quarter turn on opposing lugs where it needs it and BAM... no more issues!!! Beatdown... you da man!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!!
You said that if you want an even deeper tone, you tune one lug on each head down. Do you do the same thing for example on a set of high pitch jazz toms, with just tuning up two of the lugs? Love your vids man! Been following for a looong time!
That one lug adjustment on top and bottom head only works for detuning/drop pitch. If you want to go higher just turn each lug 2 or 3 half turns past the point of removing the ripples. Thats just a start, then listen to pitch, and you may need to check the head at each lug to make sure they are all relatively close in pitch. That should get you in the ballpark. Personally I have been using the Evans tension adjust key and have had great luck so far. I hate the Tama Tension Watch tool, just never had good luck with those.
So.... bottom line. This video was so on point and on time. I’ve spent so much time trying to dial up the tuning on my toms and after all the theory and speculation..... THIS video and technique is the only one that ever gave me the immediate results that I was seeking. The simplicity and results have convinced me that this is the only way to tune. Thank you Rob.
Rob man. I’ve been playing drums for 20 years, teaching and playing professionally for 10. I used to tune my drums like this back in the day but stopped about 15 years ago after learning to use my ear and more complicated methods. Decided to go back to the wrinkle method yesterday after watching your video and I’ve got to say; the results were way better. My floor Tom sings like it hasn’t for years! Thanks man.
Couldn't resist: this is the 80/20 Drum Tuning method right here 🤣🤣☝️☝️

Yeah I had that and did what you did! I was pitching my head to try and see the buggers! 😂
Best bet is to finger tighten them just to the point of touching the hoop
I had the same problem, mainly when I was re-tuning heads that had been on there a while. New heads seemed better.

I've been tuning my toms using this method since the day you posted your original video and haven't touched my DrumDial or used any other drum-tuning witchcraft since.
same here, im very happy with my sound now, the sound engineers simply love my drum kit sound now thank to rob and this method
well .. basically I agree..
R. Erin Lenth easiest way you can just write the numbers on your drum dial then you good for life ;)
@Jonathan Wheeler What heads are you using? You may have tried this combo, but if not, it's worked for me. Evans G1 coated batter and G1 clear resonant side. Equivalent Remo would be Ambassador coated batter with Clear Ambassador reso. Maybe try a G2 (or Remo Emperor) batter while keeping the G1 on the bottom. Alot of local backline companies in different cities will sell slightly used heads and you can get some different types to try out for little money. Check the bearing edges of your drum, might be something going on there that a head won't fix.
Me too, never sounded better.
“It’s not rocket science”. I love this guy. Rob’s got my attention.
Yes! Rob is the Best!
Rob! My man. Killer video, this just saved me so much time.

What about yours with John Good...😅
Man, this is incredible!
👌👌👌
Rob, I've been playing drums for 30+ years and watching your first tuning series was enlightening. Keeping it simple works. Thank you!

Love how laid back and real you are. Yes everyone this method works!! I was one of those guys humming and haing pitch tuning lugs and thought my toms sounded good until I tried this and BOOM! I won't tune any other way from now on. Thanks Rob!!

Is this applicable to cheap drum set..?
@@viranationscrg8196 I've never played a cheap drum set that wasn't instantly improved by just getting new heads. get those heads and tune them this way!
For you doubters out there:
I litterally have never been able to tune drums before this video.
Ok, I tuned my drums right along with you but my v-drums still sound exactly the same as before...... ;)

Thanks!
I’ve been playing for almost 30 years and you just solved the biggest frustration in my drumming life in a matter of minutes. Many thanks Beatdown!
I have been playing for 55 years and I return to this video year after year just to refresh myself with Rob's technique and to laugh with him over the simplicity of this method. It works! I have shared this video with every drummer I know- pros and amateurs. They all agree- this is the shitzzzz! Love you, my brother!
After tunning drums the wrong way I finally found the Rob way a while back and my drums have sounded great ever since.
The man ain't lying. Been doing it since the first video

Thank You!
Wait . . . You can tune a drum without a Drum Dial and a stick of bearing edge conditioner??? Mind blown. Thanks for keeping it real and real simple.

Thanks bro.
This is one of the best tuning videos I have ever seen. No joke!
Once again, you have shown me and others that overthinking doesn't accomplish anything. You have made playing and tuning a Pleasure once again. Thanks for all your videos!
i got my own drum kit like four months ago, it was used and i left the heads on until now, the sound was HORRIBLE but the idea of trying to tune them myself was so daunting i never tried until i broke my bass drum head and HAD to do something, i’ve literally spent two full days trying to figure out the exact right method before finding these videos , youre right it just doesn’t need to be this hard! thank you so much i’m finally getting a good sound of my kit !
ive watched so many videos and tried loads of methods using ears, dials, and even smart phones to try and get the perfect sound. while they all work to an extent, they take ages and are not easy or cheap. your method is the quickest and easiest and works every time and very easy to move tuning without spending hours faffing about
Well this is an eye-opener. Thank you, Beatdown!
For years….I’ve always been unhappy/inconsistent with tuning….your video put that to bed….simplicity is key and you drove that point home!
Not even a drummer anymore, but I can watch this guy for hours.
Finally I have managed to get a good sound from my dw performance 12” Tom using this method. Thanks Rob
A big thanks to you man and all the best!!!
I will certainly try this, thanks Rob!
Your guide is AWESOME !!! Instead of 4 hour tuning the whole kit, now it only takes me 15 mins. And also quicker fine tuning. Less tuning, more playing for me. It's TRUE, man !!!
I always come back to this video! I’ve been drumming for 13 years but it’s always nice for a refresher course
Same!! It's nice to come back and get a refresher that tuning your toms should not be this overly complicated thing
Im late to the party, but oh my gosh my brother I can't thank you enough, God bless you for making it simple!....
You changed my life completely from needing people to tuning my drums to now doing it by myself today I did it for the first time and WOW! I’m impressed on how simple and easy it is thank you so much for this video and teaching us on how to tune.
Brother, after doing this method, I realized I had no idea how to tune before. Wow. Thank you!
Sharing to drumeo right now.....

Oh definitely the go to method of tuning.
Hi Rob thanks for your tips!
My new 2021 goal: Become a tuning ninja!
So elegantly simple, and now my toms sound better than ever before. I had been dreading changing my tom heads for three years, but now I'm cured. Thanks Rob!
Damn it man you may have just saved me from quitting on day two of learning the drums.... thank you
I have been using this method on my Evans Hydraulics with G1 resos and I'll tell you what.... it's foolproof!
5:45 in the morning here. Super upset my wife is asleep in the room with my drums. She's so inconsiderate of my need to tune my toms.
Watching this at 5am and pretty much having the same issue. XD
I can't believe how great this works!!! I have had my kit for almost 20yrs and it has never EVER sounded so good. Thank you so much Ken.

Decided to go back to the wrinkle method yesterday after watching your video and I’ve got to say; the results were way better. My floor Tom sings like it hasn’t for years! Thanks man.
