I remember binge watching the older Coopers video when I started brewing. Great to see this one as they are a massive help to new brewers. Thanks for the videos!
Craig, I have to thank you for helping me getting back into home brewing. Your videos are very informative and entertaining. I'm about your age, and I still have my Dad around....and thanks to you we are having some great times using your expertise to make beer and wine. Keep up the good work!
Craig! When I started home brewing 4 years ago, yours was the channel I spent a lot of time watching. I'm so glad to see that you are still making videos and that you're the same cool guy I remember. Stay cool Craig!!
Thanks Craig. Sometimes it's the simple things that make you feel good. We should all remember where we started and celebrate what coopers has done for us. Cheers from Brisbane Australia.
"I actually found this spoon outside on the grass" Haha! Too funny, Craig. I love your videos. If I ever get off the island and head your way, I'll totally stop in for a brew!
Craig, new brewer here in the UK and have watched lots of your stuff. Really gave me the confidence to go for it. Got my first batch of coopers on the go now. Hope I can make it as well as I can drink it! Thanks for the help. Cheers.
Hey Craig At Brew-Dudes we are both regular all grain brewers. My system is decidedly over complicated with three burners a pump and a plate chiller etc etc. Johns process is still a simple cooler mash tun and on pot and one burner outside. Despite the different level of complexity, we totally appreciate what your doing. Brewing is fun anyway you do it and there's no reason to rain on anyone parade. Beer is beer in the end if its the way you like it. Cheers! -Mike
beans and rice there's a lot of people out there doing all grain videos but if you want to see all the different methods Craig's the one to watch, that's why we love his videos
Awesome tip Craig I have never thought about putting a immersion chiller in fermenter like that to cool it down that's why your the man cheers and beers Craig!! 17
thanks Craig for the brewing vid. a friend and i done a brewers best kit yesterday it was a lot of work and we had a boil over (not to bad) still was a mess. happy HBW .... 17
I am thinking about starting to brew my own beer and looked on UA-cam and found your videos. really enjoy them and have been learning alot cheers Craig
Hi Craig I first watched your videos back in 2010 when I was interested in making beer at home, and your video series on making up the coopers and other beer kits was invaluable. Have had so much enjoyment from the hobby and though the first batch I made prior to watching your videos was terrible after taking advice from them it was a vast improvement. I’ve since moved on through BIAB and now I’m about 25 brews on my Grainfather. And seeing you on my UA-cam feed I came back to see what you were doing. Anyway a lot of rambling just to say thank your Sir keep up your great work. P.s. I’m going to go to the store and see what the coopers kits are like now. All the best Matt
Hey Craig. Congrats on hitting HBW #225! That's alot of HBW's! I look forward to these every week. Yeah I reuse my StarSan for months before making a new batch. Cheers!
By the way, at 32:00 or so you talk about people wanting to see you do "kit videos" when it's been done a quite a bit before... I, for one, have watched most of those of those videos in the last few days (as I get ready to brew my first batch in my life... I'm an engineer so I tend to over-study simple things) and your video was by far the best presentation of the process in a way I enjoy watching it, and your commentary made good sense and was useful. I'm ampped up to brew! So I think the reason people requested you do a video like this is because you're more fun to watch doing it, while being informative with comments that are actually relevant, compared to many home brewer videos. Just my humble opinion.
Love your videos , I live in northwestern Ontario on highway 11 east of Thunder Bay about 250 klicks and I brew wine and beer keep up the good work Shane
Good video Craig, it's good to see you brewing the new coopers And when I'm over visiting my son, I'll make sure i stop over and try one of your beers.
another great video craig. I just made your Craigtube Porter, 2 weeks ago and will check my fg this weekend and bottle it up. had to use Nottingham yeast as the homebrew store didnt have any windsor. lookkng forward to finally being able to drink it in a month or two! cheers from Australia.
I bought a case of Cooper's Sparkling Ale on the weekend. I consumed 7 or 8 bottles and pretty much vowed to never drink again the next morning. I came to my senses of course but that stuff is strong!
Cheers for another great vid Craig. I mostly brew from kits due to time constraints but I add slight embellishments just for my own personal taste. I have recently been adding a hop tea to the wort to enhance the hop aromas and flavours, along with dry hopping in the pin. I have been thinking about perhaps making a vid (or two) on how I brew my beverages but have never plucked up the courage to even do it for personal viewing yet. I have a gopro but most footage has been from first person perspective on the road bike as I am a little camera shy (and I am fairly clueless as to how to edit any footage taken LOL). Keep the vids coming, they are much appreciated. Cheers Schnuz.
Hello from Scotland! Thanks for the vt. I've just started a red and white 5l starter wine kit. Need to get into the Ales. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I remember watching this 3 years ago when I was learning how to brew. Now I've become more confident as a Homebrew and look for feed back from others about what the like and dislike about the beers I make. Lately I've made such a simple blonde ale that is awesome with key lime extract by amoretti. It may be 4.5 abv, buts it one that will have you come back for more.
Very keen to see how the sparkling ale turns out, one of my favourite beers. Lucky for me its around everywhere here in Perth, Western Australia. I'm also an avid induction cook top user, currently use 2 x induction cook tops for my BIAB setup, works a treat!
I started my first batch today> I super appreciate your videos i have been watching as many as i can lol Thank you p.s my can opener would not open the top i had to open it from the bottom still
Hey Craig. Thanks for this video. Writing you from Winnipeg, Canada. Im just getting started in brewing. A couple questions though. All other things equal how will the beer be different if you brew with 19 or 20 litres as opposed to 23 litres? Secondly, why did you use three boxes of the coopers dried malt extract? My way of thinking is that one box would be for one tim of the liquid wart from the kit. Am I wrong? What does adding three opposed to just one do? Appreciate any help!
Hey Craig another great video bud. I know brewing those kit's it's "old hat" for you but even though it is for most of us too it is still fun to hang out with you while you brew. I did a Muntons Mexican Cerveza on Saturday. my LHBS and HBC hosted a "Big brew day" event for National homebrew day. It was super easy thanks to all your great "Homebrewing the easy way" video's. I still can't find those new Coopers kit's you got. maybe they are only on the Canadian server?
Hey Craig. Love your videos. I'm in the states California. I just have a simple question for you. Could you use just the (can) on a small batch say two gallons? Or would that be to concentrated? I'm just not ready to get back into the full 5 gallon batch brews yet. Thanks
Sulphur dioxide can be released by certain yeasts when there's certain mineral and nutrient deficiencies...or so I'm told! My brother made a cider once that reeked of rotten eggs - tasted fine if you're a hardened cider drinker but the smell was a tad off-putting. Sometimes it'll go away with time - chilling helps.
Craig how are yah? I have some questions for you and your fans. 1.how many cans of extract can I add together..ie can I put 3 cans of extract and say 3kgs of sugar? 2. I made a coopers lager 2 weeks in buckets 3-4 weeks in bottles.. I used 2 even teaspoons of white sugar... every one of em was either a geyser of head or flat Azzzz. After the head settles.. not a bad beer.. Any advice much appreciated.. Cheers
Thanks Craig, great vid as per usual...sterilizing the yeast packet...Wow, that sure is thorough LOL never seen that before. all good tho mate. cheers 17
@@jamienconla02173 No worries mate. It's a bit of a concern. Don't know where you are but I'm pretty certain in the UK starsan is being replaced with chemisan.? Brewed the Coopers 86 day Pilsner today, might do a video. I normally change things with kits but wanted to do as intended. Cheers. 👍🍺
hey Craig I enjoy your videos I understand your videos I'm making beer I have learned a lot from your show I watched a lot of UA-cam videos and a lot of other videos online about making homegrown beer craft beer I understand how you format it makes it more interesting and educational especially when you had a few to drink and thought I'd let you know I appreciate it I'm eventually going to start brewing my own when I find the right brew kit I'm really looking for Coopers 5 gallon brew kit if I can afford one I've been looking online for used kits or for kids that people don't no longer want not successful the way I will find one eventually I am determined anyway I thought I'd let you know I appreciate your program
Hi. I am waiting for my coopers starter kit with a European lager to arrive. This is my first time brewing since failing with Tom Claxton home brew 50 years ago, I cannot wait months to taste it so can anyone advise me what to brew first that is quicker to drink but yet still tastes a bit like lager, I love lagers. Thanks
hey Craig, just wondering on your carbonation techniques for the keg? Iv got my flavours on point but just lacking a bit of head/head retention. Cheers!
Hey CraigTube, I just found your video's, great stuff you've got here!! I am looking at getting an induction burner, what burner do you use?? In another video I saw you using some OBK liquid malt, and you say that your supporting a local shop...must be nice to be close to OBK, I am down the 401 in the Kingston area.
I been making beer for years I am 33 but in the last few years the beer has not been great is it because of the water that comes from the tap what should I do to get good clean beer
hello craig, i have a quick question. im 20 years old and only started brewing last year ( other than helping my grandfather make beer from the age i was 17 ) is there any winter time beer you could recommend? i live in newfoundland canada and we have temps of around -20 normally and we usually drink outside. cheers!
Hi Craig, I know this is a link from last year, and someone may have made a comment pertaining to the yeasts Coopers uses, so, I just want to mention my correspondence with the people at Coopers. I asked about whether I could buy specific yeasts for their specific brew cans and I was told all brew cans are supplied with the same yeast...except wheat beers, which have wheat beer yeast. Pretty clear to me. But, what happens if I use a specific type yeast, say an ale yeast of one variety or another with one of their ales? That change HAS to make a difference, right? Also, my series of mistakes over this last year since starting to use Coopers has almost made me quit brewing. But I found out I have misread their instructions and have allowed the beer to ferment way too long. ALL my brews have been dumped because they taste horrible, will not carbonate or just plain fail. Please let your watchers know brew cans using Coopers ingredients do not need the long fermentation times like a full grain batch or partial grain batch require. Most of the boiling and settling out of the trub has been done for you. Follow the instructions and the beer will survive. Let it sit too long in the fermenter will not help, but can for sure hurt your finished product. I have a Lager and a Mexican Cerveza to do next. I will let you know how they do. I just found this on Coopers site. It seems to answer the question about their yeast but it is different from what they told me. "The following explains the ink-jetted code on the yeast sachets, supplied with each beer kit: Sachets carry a Julian date code and may also carry letters to denote the type of yeast. A = ale yeast and L = lager yeast (these strains are commercially available dry yeast and their details are held in confidence)." Thanks for the great videos. rb
Craig could you do a video on the 86 days Pilsner, I'm thinking of doing a batch with 2lbs dme and 300g of brown sugar how do you think this would work out?
Seriously you are the most down to earth bloke ever. I literally went out and bought a coopers kit today to start up again. Hello from Australia

Did a Coopers Bootmaker Pale Ale recently with 1.5 Coopers malt extract. One of the best beers I've made.
Good stuff Craig. I brewed the new pils tin the other day and it smelled funny to me before i even pitched the yeast. fingers crossed. cheers.
Also I brewed a Pilsner and had that same eggy smell when fermenting lol. My wife says never again but the beer was superb!

Just curious Craig, do you not use the Coopers fermenters from the DIY kits?
been a while watching your videos. a few years in fact. got me in to making the cider (turbo cider)
My idea of a Friday night is pouring a beer to a craigtube marathon
Craig i would love one day to come by and try that pilsner. And also chat about brewing.
Nice job Craig!
I have Cooper's larger kit ... Gonna try and start today ... Been humming and haring for months ... Didn't realise pilsner was safer option :-(

Can I mix all the ingredients of the 5 gallon Pilsner refill on 20 liters bucket and then split them on two 10 liters fermenters?

Sachets carry a Julian date code and may also carry letters to denote the type of yeast. For example, if they were packaged on the 25th of September 2007 = 268th day of 2007:
Original Series:- Ac (26807)
International Series:-
Australian Pale Ale - Ac+L (26807 Int)
Mexican Cerveza - Ac+L (26807 Int)
European Lager - L (26807 P)
Canadian Blonde - Ac (26807)
English Bitter - Ac (26807)
Thomas Coopers Selection:-
Wheat - A (26807 W)
IPA - Ac (26807 IPA)
Irish Stout - A (26807 IS)
Pilsener - L (26807 P)
Australian Bitter - Ac+L (26807 PS)
Heritage Lager - Ac+L (26807 PS)
Sparkling Ale - Ac+L (26807 PS)
Traditional Draught - Ac+L (26807 PS)
Note:
Ac = Coopers ale yeast (our own strain, not the same as the yeast in our commercial ales, developed in-house and propagated under contract).
A = ale yeast and L = lager yeast (these strains are commercially available dry yeast and their details are held in confidence)."
Thanks for the great videos.

Craig could you do a video on the 86 days Pilsner, I'm thinking of doing a batch with 2lbs dme and 300g of brown sugar how do you think this would work out?
Great video as always, how can I send you a couple of beers from Scottish brewery's?
