Hello, Would love to know how these held up after almost 2 years. Anything you would do differently now? I am trying to decide which paint to use for my kit cabinets- silk or dixie belle with gator hide. Thanks in advance!
We recommend using chalk paint and sealing your cabinet with Gator Hide, which is a durable top coat with three thin layers. Then you will have a water-repellent surface (use a DRY sponge when applying the Gator Hide)! Hope this helps and let us know if there is anything else we can help you with along the way!

Beautiful job on your cabinets! I know you clened them well but did you need to scuff sand them as well?
Hey there! Silk Mineral Paint is awesome because you don't have to fully sand your piece and it already has a topcoat and primer built into the paint. But yes, if it has a high factory finish then we do recommend lightly scuff sanding with medium or fine grit sandpaper but in most cases, you should not have to. I hope this helps!
Wow, great tutorial, thank you very much! Just wondering, did you have to use Dixie Bell 'White Lightening' to clean off cabinets first, or what did you use? Also, did you have to do any sanding? Thank you for your time. Joe & Renene
Hey there! Heike here stated that she would have used a White Lightning but didn't have any at that moment so she used a TSP. With Silk Mineral Paint, you should not need to scuff sand unless it has a high factory finish but in most cases, the primer in the paint does just fine. Thank you for watching!

Did you use Gator Hide to protect your cabinets?
Hi there! You can add Gator Hide for extra durability. However, Silk Mineral Paint is self sealing :) Hope this helps and have a wonderful day!
How does it hold up?
Silk is mold/mildew/water resist and will hold up beautifully.
Can the silk paint be bought by the gallon?

Silk Paint is only avaible in 16oz for the time being.
