You can now add Aaron Boone getting tossed 2 pitches into the game because a fan was mouthing off. And, if course, there was the JT Realmuto ejection last year in spring training for absolutely nothing.

After my last high school baseball game ended all three of my team’s coaches were given “postgame ejections” after our coach told us in our postgame meeting that we weren’t playing against 9 players we were playing against 2 guys. The umpires had been horrible all game including a ball that landed maybe 2 feet foul called fair resulting in a go ahead 2 run double for the other team that we never came back from.

"Sort of" happened but the fans killed the game.
I was at Dodger Stadium August 1995 and it was ball night, they gave the fans balls as they entered.
Raul Mondesi got ejected, that pissed off manager Tommy Lasorta who got ejected so that pissed off the fans who started throwing hundreds of balls on the field.
The ump ended the game with a Dodger forfeit and thus even MORE balls thrown out.

the only point it will make is in the teams pocketbook. The team will be fined for refusing to play and the manager probably suspended. Despite the whining from the peanut gallery, the majority of the umps in MLB are over 95% accuracy. Angel Hernandez was never under 95% even with his weird calls here and there. There are actually websites that track that sort of thing. They also track every pitch and what it was called compared to what the actual computer used by MLB said it should be. The box you see on your TV is not accurate. It is off by a couple of inches from what MLB has. Since you seem to think it is easy to be an ump, you should go to your local little league and volunteer. They will appreciate the help and you will find out it isn't so easy to do....

    • @JPBennett

The problem is not the few poor pitch calls. The problem is stupid ejections. You could fix it by requiring agreement by two of the ump team to eject.

    •  28 днів тому

Your smooth brain understands that Hernandez was never under 95% accuracy his entire career. Despite the weird calls he made, he stayed above that mark. Since you seem to think that it is so easy to be an umpire you should definitely go to your local little league and volunteer. I am sure they will appreciate your expertise. It will give the kids an opportunity to play and you an opportunity to learn it isn't nearly as easy to do when you are on the field instead of the stand swilling beer watching replays....

    •  28 днів тому

@@TimGambill1984 I can tell you have never officiated anything in your life. if you had you wouldn't be spouting such drivel. MLB and the minor leagues track umpire accuracy. The majority of umpires are at 95% accuracy or higher. Hernandez was never below 95% even with his weird calls from time to time. All of the umps on the diamond are far more competent when it comes to the game than you will ever be. You should go to your local little league and volunteer to call some games. You will learn very quickly that it is not easy to do and the kids will have someone willing to allow them to play. There is a shortage of sports officials in the US thanks to people with your attitude.

    •  28 днів тому

@@Darthvader-oc5tp Wrong. The umpires are absolutely punished if they make major errors. You don't hear about it because of union rules, but it happens. They can be fined, lose game assignments and if bad enough be sent down (depending on their contract). Despite what you might think, most of the umps in MLB are at 95% accuracy or higher. The league tracks that information and you can find it on various sites. They track every pitch thrown and every call made. The info is out there for anyone that wants to look....

There is no rule that says the umps have to put up with verbal abuse. What makes you think it is ok? Would you like someone, wholly unqualified, to follow your around at your job to tell you how much you suck and cuss and swear at you? I imagine that person would be arrested pretty quick. The umpires have to have an ego check in place with how baseball has some of the worst officials in any sport. Also don't make the crew chief the umpire at home. By rule the umpires have jurisdiction once they enter the playing surface. If you want to act like an idiot because of a prior game and carry it to the next game's lineup exchange, expect to get tossed because your willingness to extend your anger to the next game means you will be a problem for the entire game. Kiss your ass good bye.
I once worked a youth doubleheader. I was on the bases for the first game. The visiting coach rode my partner for seven full innings but did not step over the line. My partner, BTW, called a good game behind the plate. The ONLY person who had a problem was the visiting team's head coach. There was a 30 minute break between games to let us change gear and for everyone to hydrate a little. At the second game's lineup exchange the visiting coach was still berating my partner. My partner deferred to me since I was now the plate umpire and said "I want him gone.". I replied "You have the same power to eject him as I do. If you want him gone, do it.". He chucked his ass immediately.

also. ask why the coach acts so dramatic over a game situation that happened day/s ago. turn the lineup card in and discuss the ground rules for the upcoming game.

Umpire needs a discipline when ejected without starting the game because is a violation.

      Violation of what?
      What does it violate?
So you ave saying it's OK if a couch is using profanity towards an ump before the "game"?
You do also realize, that line-up exchange and going over the ground rules is actually part of the game?

The immaturity of players today is quite striking. No pun intended. They make millions of dollars to play a kids game and still whine like they're back in the days when they played for peanuts.
