I love his voice, his smile and the way he raises his left eyebrow :D Seriously, why isn't there anyone like him nowadays, we've got only shitty music and stupid celebraties v.v
That little smirk Alan gets as soon as bozo says “you guys are immensely popular in Britain”. You can see Alan probably just think to himself “alright well this one’s gonna suck”
Dear gawd, this interviewer is horrible. Alan is such a nice guy that he's able to keep his cool with this guy's stupid questions while interjecting a little sarcasm and wit along the way keeping his adorable smile in check. He's such a consummate professional and so incredibly talented. DM was never the same without him sadly.
I wish I grew up at the same time as him. He would've made a great boyfriend or husband. Soft voice, good sense of humor, smart guy, really talented, and loves cats. He's too old for me though. I mean, he's 60 an I'm 14.
I agree with you completely. Dave seemed to be fine with Alan, but then he got into his drugged out Jesus phase during "Songs of Faith and Devotion", and became essentially useless. The tag-team of Gore and Fletch reeked of professional envy. Alan was a threat to them. Fletch's contribution to the musicality of the band still remains a rhetorical question. Gore is a good songwriter, but appears extremely insecure. He tried too hard to be dead sexy during his black leather bondage days 😁
One thing i like about Alan, he's very eloquent of answering all the question.. some how he managed to keep it calm and cool in the interview.. That my awesome Alan. 😊❤❤
What a douce way to start an interview: You’re not popular You play more than keyboards? Compares you to Georgia Satellites Your synthpop genre is dying And the whole time people are screaming for Alan
Alan has a natural immense class and he is so nicely blasé that is a rare quality....he is so clever and talented and so fun because has a great sense of humor...he is such an adorable man ...obv he doesnt stand idiots who ask stupid questions
This interviewer was an idiot. Amazing how Alan handled it. *Ultimate* power play by Alan, when the interviewer was flummoxed by the screaming fans, and Alan said "Well, I'm used to it." Hahahaha. I'm not a DM fan who thinks DM haven't been good since Alan left, I really do like Alan. He's a very good communicator and very calm in the face of stupidity. I can't let the disrespectful fans affect my feeling towards Alan.
Alan is a very clever Man and he amazes me the way he plays the keyboard so fast and I love his backing voice and Alan will always be my favourite member of Depeche Mode and he songs main voice on get the balance right. Alan is also great to
Actually what gives that impression is that the Director of the music video of Get The Balance Right who didn't knew Depeche Mode very well thought Alan was the singer so he filmed him more than Dave. But C Fonseca is right Dave sings on Get The Balance Right just like he sings in all the other DM songs (where Martin doesn't sing) except maybe in tracks like Behind The Wheel where Martin & Dave sing together.
Alan seems so annoyed here lol And apparently in real life he is super nice and humble. I know someone who actually hung out with him and jammed with him, he also said he was super chill and humble.
I met him in and his then-wife Hep early in the morning late winter 2005 on an empty street in Richmond upon Thames by pure luck (I was commuting to work in a pub in Kingston Upon Thames). Super friendly.
@@rikkycraft4045 I saw them from a double decker bus. They were crossing the street. I thought "he looks like Al, but is taller and a bit thicker". I got off on a next stop and ran like hell. @@jeshkam Oh thank you for sharing the details, good sir! This is the very case when it was a sin not to run at least a thousand miles in order to talk with them. They're so sweet.
The journo starts the int the worst way possible. He obviously didn´t care to do any research. Many musicians would take a piss of him. Alan is a perfect gentleman. I grew up in Prague, behind the iron curtain and even I knew DM weren´t taken seriously in the UK. But they became huge in Germany and Switzerland. Then France, Italy, Austria, Sweden. And they were massive is Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Poland. Then I found out they were huge in Latin America, too. Why? I like New Order. How many times toured New Order Prague? Never! While Depeche Mode have played in Prague about 9 times. There was something mystical about them. The music. The image. They were neither pop, nor alternative. They did things their way and were somehow able to connect with fans all around the world. And they went to play live to countries where other big bands don´t bother to go.
He is really my idol within DM band... and not only... "Thanks the lord" we`ve had Alan Wilder in Depeche Mode, i will never end thanking him for his great great great contribute to Enjoy the Silence.

Alan wilder is so awesome i love him so much he put up with the TV presenter almost 9 minutes and he was very uncomfortable as he didn't leave or hit him.
Nobody better in the world at putting sounds and melodies together than Depeche Mode. Add in Martin’s lyrics and Dave’s voice and you really do have something very special. I’ve been a fan since 1981 and seen them three times live. I was at the Rose Bowl in 1988.
In hindsight, during 1987-1993 they were in their most creative golden period, especially with respect to Alan's production and his innovative soundscapes. So the answer is no, the future of synth was not in danger of becoming obsolete. lol.
What a slightly rude and unprepared interviewer. Of the artists mentioned, Depeche Mode are by far the most progressive. Alan was fantastic in this interview.
This guy is just SO epic, I can see how diplomatic and mature Alan is JUST BASED ON HIS dealing with this d bag. We got so many great songs from DM because Alan's diplomacy.
A visionary! And so polite with the interwiever...when you have talent and a vision you have the pull to educate masses and interwievers! Alan depeche mode was so much better with you..i saw depeche in madrid last weekend..they were brilliant but i miss you so much...
I cringed all the way through this interview. Poor Alan, having to field Steve Anthony's asinine questions. I am still a Depeche Mode fan, but I miss Alan deeply.
He doesn't sing lead on "Get The Balance Right." That was an error with the videographer, who assumed that Alan was the lead singer because he was the most confident.
Alan had amazing self control, restraining himself from punching this interviewer in the head.

The interviewer was an idiot. In fact I think he was coked up. Alan certainly had little use for him. I don't blame Alan for having an attitude.
