  • Officers of any military are the backbone of military organization, communication and execution of action. They are the ones that are responsible to keep morale up, have a plan of action, and rally their troops to accomplish missions. Those principles are the same in Hell let loose. Officers are important to communicate with other officers and commanders as a whole but to communicate with your squad to do what needs to be done as well. With a competent officer core, you can do a lot even if your commander is the equivalent of Colonel Klink. So here is the guide to how play officer right

An officer makes or breaks this game. Highly recommended people try it. Didn’t have any interest in it at the beginning but once I started understanding the game and flanks I think it’s the most satisfying class especially when your team is helping you.

Biggest type of advice I could add:
1)Do what your team is not doing. They all attacking? You defend. They all going straight head on with the enemy? Flank.
    2) If your SL, and you think or say “bruh someone has to go back and defend” THAN DO IT.
The expression “If you want it done right, do it yourself” this whole game is that. Do it. There is no I in team, but there is a M and a E. So don’t expect others to do what you need done. Hold yourself to the same standards you expect others to do. This will do two things. Either change the dynamic of your team and they follow your lead and start to get more team oriented. Or they don’t and you realize you’re playing TDM and just vibe.

Started playing a few weeks ago and so far squad lead and engineer are my favorite classes. Engineer is diverse depending on the game mode and the teams situation, so its something a bit different every match. Squad lead is extremely rewarding when you have a squad that is willing to work with you. Feels awesome celebrating tactical wins with your squad. It also helps all players feel purposeful and part of the war machine when they have tactical instruction or a clear plan.

Big facts! It goes both ways, having competent leadership goes a long way for people and on the flip side having people follow you into battle is rewarding and awesome to have. In this game, one great squad can make all of the difference in a match

Yeah, I find explaining my moving completely away from the objective (to flank) helps a ton. A lot of people, if you don't explain, will just scoff at the idea of not running right into the action. SL is probably my favorite thing to do, just for the strategy, but just now getting into commanding.
9/10 times I'll just start looking to build garrisons in good places.

That’s a great thing about this game, it’s a RTS game and FPS game at the same time. I love strategy and it’s awesome to have a game where you can use tactics for different situations. Usually if you have a talking squad or at least people paying attention, flanking is a workable tactic. If nothing else, a nice incentive usually gets people motivated to flank with you sometimes (enemy garrison, tanks to destroy, sometimes better firing positions, etc) Beats trying to forward assault an objective with no maneuvers to widen the front.

I value the officer role because I can influence a team to carry out Higher’s orders. As for loadout, I don’t recommend the Thompson because it’s uncontrollable recoil. You’re more likely to hit everything around the target than the target itself. I found way more success firing with a semi-auto than a full auto. Playing the Officer role is incumbent on how effective of a communicator you are and leading your team into the fire. It is best practice for an Officer to not die more times than his men. I know the enemy has a say however, being able to identify key terrain and exploiting the enemy’s disposition is vital in staying alive. Great points!

If you are talking about supplies, you’ll have to have command, airdrop you supplies, (100 supplies per drop) bring up a supply truck from your HQ(or have the commander deploy a supply truck for you which has 2 crates of 150 supplies) or have a support player in your squad (50 supplies per crate every 5 minutes per person)

So unless there’s a pc vs console difference that I don’t know this is the reason why:
On warfare and offensive as the attacking team: it won’t let you drop supplies in your HQ sectors (two squares that are you HQ areas.) And on offensive as the defending team, you can’t drop supplies from a truck in the four square area around the last point. It’s kinda hard to explain like this but that’s what I can give you

I'm level 70 and not a great SL but I did it a couple of times. In my experience defending is much easier for new players because it gives you time to react to things, until an enemy attack begins. Also there isn't much to do in defense besides building garries with support, getting supply trucks and requesting engineers to build stuff.
Another thing is that, often, players will know what to do so you don't need to micromanage them. Giving general orders. In general, I find you only need to give 1) an objective (like a building, a trench, an actual point) 2) a direction for them to look at or move towards (like attack this area from the north and try to hold it). In general people follow it.
Always talk first, sometimes good players who join your squad expecting you to use comms and don't hear you talking immediately leave the squad to join another. So always have the initiative to talk even if it's just a "mic check" so that mic players know you have a mic. Usually they talk first but just in case.
I met some amazing SLs in this game and the most fun I had were with creative SLs who would come up with interesting missions. My favorite one was when a SL did a stealth AT mission behind enemy lines game with randoms. We would sneak around hunting for vehicles and putting mines. He had us not open fire to not expose our position. It was a lot of fun and incredibly effective.
