Hell Let Loose Guide: How to Play Engineer right

  • This tutorial will talk about all of the ins and outs you should know if you want to play engineer effectively. As it is more than playing Minecraft simulator. There is a decent amount that goes into playing engineer but this class has a lot of potential for both offense and defense alike. I hope you take something away from today’s video and thank you for watching.
    Update on other guides that I haven’t done yet: I’ll most likely wait until the British drop later this year to finish them out as there will be more things to talk about once the UK comes out
    Shout out to Wolfpack in the ZFG clan for being my “model” for the thumb nail, I appreciate ya

    One thing I noticed that isn't touched on in a lot of these tutorials which maybe seems like common sense, but for new engineers actually isn't. Once you exhaust your blueprints, if you keep trying to build for example a 5th barbed wire it will delete your first barbed wire similar to the mines. And so on. So once you place maximum amount of blueprints you cant keep placing them unless you want to destroy everything you've already built previously.

    I would like to disagree on something, and add a few other tips. Only build nodes on (what I call) "the home line" if you have no other choice. If you can get a support player to help, scatter your nodes around your home sector. Be nice to your support player and build a manpower node first, it shortens their cooldown by half on supplies. Do not build your nodes around any used or unused points. Those are the first three places recon teams will look for nodes. Do NOT bunch your nodes up, spread them out so that they can't be taken out with a single rocket or satchel.
    When building defenses, NEVER completely close off a point (even if you are playing defense in an offensive match). The reason is, if a bombing run or satchel takes out your garrison, YOUR team can get locked out as well. For instance, the brick factory on the Driel map. It is so easy to just close off all the gates so no one can get in, but if your garrison gets taken out, your point can get capped without haven to get inside the walls. Also, NEVER place a barricade right next to barbed wire. There are a couple reasons for this. If you barricade is to close, the enemies can just toss grenades over, but most importantly the enemy can use your barricade as cover to plant a satchel on you barbed wire and blow up both the wire and the barricade. Also, keep in mind, a satchels or a grenade can set off land mines. Do not place land mines near friendly firing positions.

      So the node bit I’ll give that one to you a bit, the scattering of nodes is something that should be done more but you can only effectively do that with a support and the problem with that is that, having a support player as it can be hard to get someone to play support let alone have them get you what you need and someone who is willing to stick with you for 7.5 minutes to get all three done. It’s not impossible to have this but to the average solo queue player, they might not have this consistently to be able to do this, so using a supply truck is the preferred method of supply for nodes. Again I agree with the principle but unfortunately it might not be possible all of time, at least compared to a supply truck but even that has its faults.
      I can agree about your other bits a bit as well, my main principle when talking about defenses is to make how you see fit essentially, closing off of objectives isn’t the best choice. My main thing I talked about was to form choke points or to block off certain avenues to force the enemy to certain other areas. The satchel charges are a threat but more often than not, not many people use them to destroy defenses…even though they are perfect for the job. But what you said is correct about them so point stands. (Speaking from a average solo queue player’s perspective, at least that’s how I try to structure my videos)
      I would have gotten to this sooner but I had a busy weekend, i appreciate the comment and the respectfulness of it.

      @@ChaoticHammer_ I get that the first 10 to 15 minutes of a match can be chaos, the Engineer/Support strategy is more useful for when enemy recon starts taking down your nodes. Also, in practice it is usually me switching between the two classes. So, while the total cooldown time is only 5 minutes (only 2.5 minutes each for boxes 2 and 3) it ends up taking a lot longer with all the running and redeploying. It's kind of in the same boat as the "don't build garrison on the point" strategy. It's a great idea, but getting a squad leader and 3-4 support players to work together in not practical on a public server.

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  10 місяців тому +1

      That’s the root of a lot of issues if you look at it, so much can be done in a game…if you have a competent squad/group of players in game, but I digress. you are correct on your main point about the nodes and the concept you have said it’s great when you have someone able to do that with you.

    Good review! Its a toss sometimes, to choose between combat and mech engineer. Laying ATs & APs is a hoot and the more you place them the more you'll see your "instrument of pain" increase its numbers. In those last ditch seneireos, prepare to replace those mines and APs. Another hint to do at those last minute strong holds is to build a MANPOWER Node! Cutting the time in half for all those timers that everyone will be using.

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  Рік тому +1

      Indeed, thank you very much for your time in watching the video
      Yeah the manpower node is very nice to have, as long as there is only one in the area so in the event the point you are on gets taken you don’t loose everything, that is cool that they put that in there, also the munitions node replenishes ammo boxes at half the time as well

  • @SW-ku5tg

    If you are building defenses on a point with a garrison (common on public matches) - best not to use the last 50 supplies on the point as they might be needed if the garrison is destroyed (say by a bombing run).

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  Рік тому

      Awareness around you and what you have around you kicks in here, i don’t see this too often happen but it does happen and it’s frustrating. It sucks as an SL or commander when I see the garrison on point go down with no supply in the area, either from being destroyed as well or being used elsewhere. And probably no support player in sight either

    • @silentrage5425
      @silentrage5425 10 місяців тому +1

      to add to this, if you can, leave the supplies as far from the garrison as you can. It makes it harder for a bombing run to take out both.

      @@ChaoticHammer_ absolutely!!! Personally I enjoy all ur vids. Alot of these types of videos I have found are atleat one year old and as such contain outdated material. I appreciate your support bud, and i appreciate your time and writing this all out, it, it means a lot. I’m looking to modernize my guides to take what I’ve learned both from the game and just over the couple of months of doing UA-cam videos. Since the UK is coming soon, my info although up to date at least for now, will be outdated once the UK arrives, so keep a look out for those. Yeah console players could use some help lol, but most mean well. As long as people are enjoying my content, learning something, etc, I’ll keep putting up videos. Once again, thank you because you are the driving force at the end of the day.

    I’ve always noticed I load into a game. The truck is already leaving. There’s no support character. I’m stuck in a position where I cannot build anything. I then switch to the support character to drop some resources and try my best to do everything on my own.
