- Scotland Yard was twice forced to apologise after an officer used the term "openly Jewish" to describe an antisemitism activist.
Meanwhile, the government has said being Jewish "should never be seen as provocative".

It is obvious that the officer was concerned about your safety and acted in a clumsy way. Nothing deeper than that.
A bad choice of words, that's all. The officer had the guy's safety in mind. It would not have been possible to hold back an entire crowd of hyped-up Palestine supporters had they surged forward with violent intent. It's the same warning that he'd get had he been strolling along a sea front that was being hit by storm waves or near fallen power lines.
@@heron6462 All the officer had to do then was simply say so...
It's police duty to ensure safety of anybody in any public area
Two heavy bodyguards and a film crew - what was this guy up to?
Met Policy did the right thing to deescalate and stop further conflict! Stop criticizing the police!
Nonsense! The Met have been telling everyone how peaceful these marches are. If that's the case, why have they violated this man's freedoms guaranteed by Articles 5 and 9 of the Human Rights Act 1998 in order to appease an antisemitic hate mob?

I think it is outrageous that the police had to apologise twice.
The policeman was doing his job asked the guy to not go the way he wanted to go incase he walked into an hostile environment.
The man was adamant he was going the way he wanted to go and the police said no.
Nothing for the police to apologise for
The police have an extremely difficult job to do and they really require the support from the government and citizens they do not get that.

This to seems to me like a setup, the guy is not just a regular guy going to shul, but an activist, he's wants to cause trouble and one slip of the tongue from the police officer gave him what he wanted. Now it's all over the news!
Exactly! This is how it works unfortunately.
Police officer was perfectly polite and simply trying to avoid any potential causes of friction between two sets of demonstraters.... which is what the police are supposed to do?
Gideon Falter, CEO of hardline pro Israel lobby group CAA and director of JNF which raises money to acquire land for colonial settlements in Palestine - just happened to have “stumbled” across a pro-Palestinian protest in London - with his body guards and film crew in tow.
So if a Muslim guy from of a Muslim rights organisation , proactively walks and films in front of a Tommy Robinson thug defo to raise awareness , it's his fault ? Intent is not the issue.
I'd not sack the policman, his words were unfortunate, he was just trying to keep the peace.
But it raises real issues of hypocrisy.
Just as a traditional Muslim family would not be safe around a Tommy Robinson defo , neither are a traditional Jewish family safe around a pro Palestinian defo.
That's the point..
I like to be objective and know the full facts before I judge. One question I had is why did he go to that location and want to cross the road at that moment? Is there any evidence to suggest that Mr Faltner went to the area and made that request in order to make a point, expecting the police to ask him to wait until the protest passed? That does not excuse what the police officer said to him, but it is useful to understand the context. Given that he is a campaigner (based on his Twitter/X profile) I wonder if that was his intention. If so, I have no issue with that, as he in turn would be exercising his right to protest. However, if he had no pressing need to cross the road at that moment, one could argue it was reasonable and proportionate for him to wait till the march passed. My second question is about Mr Faltner's comments in the subsequent Sky interview where he referred to waiting for police to 'take control of the streets'. In the footage shown here and in the other Sky news, I couldn't see any behaviour on the part of the protestors that seemed aggressive or obviously unlawful. Barring some exceptions where arrests were made, I am not sure that there has been a tendency on the part of either Pro-Palestinian or Pro-Israeli protestors to be aggressive, unruly or violent. Having lived in France and seen how violent French police can be, I am overall quite proud of our more gentle policing style in this country. I think the police are trying to defuse any potential tensions before they surface. On that basis, I think that whilst the protest was calm in the segment we saw here, the police did not want anything to happen that might cause protestors to become agitated. I deplore the words used by this police officer and agree that steps should be taken but I think he had decent intentions.
One could be forgiven for thinking the police are scared and inadequate
He's just walking there with his bodyguards and camera crew. Obviously he's not intending to provoking mass brawl.
Sky news should apologize to MET for this video.

Apology not needed.
One must surely consider however that walking into and through a progressive protest line, no matter what ones race or religion, could be interpreted as provocative towards those protesting, for which a police cordon has been established in the interests of public safety. Of course he has the right to freedom and to walk the streets, however if a riot breaks out the police might be able to prevent serious harm or even worse. It would only take one very angry protestor to trigger a frenzy, leading to a riot. I mean what kind of wish does this man really have ??? Does he think the police could protect him from serious harm, like knights in shining armour ??? Police could then be putting themselves at serious risk of injury. Police have to make a public safety judgement call. This dude with the strange cap was trying to selfishly make a point, that didn't need making and he failed to appreciate the broader picture and how things could rapidly deteriorate, despite his rights, with which nobody denies I'm sure.
