I think it's because for HM 1 they actually didn't use his voice, but Drew Seely's cause they didn't think it was good enough, so he had to fight really hard to have his voice actually used in the 2nd and 3rd movie

I just love how Zac really gets into his character while he's singing. Like he really feels the music & moves as if he were playing link right there in the recording studio!
I can honestly say this is the most fun musicals to do. I was crew when we did this play but I can't help but smile every time I think of it. It's so energetic and meaningful and the only way you can't have fun with this play is if you don't believe in segregation
Yeah if you don't believe how racist it's supposed to look like which it totally isn't although it's supposed to be that way because of the 60's. I agree it may be a filthy show because of it's bizarre humor and a man playing a woman on the outside but it's a fun colorful and resonant work of art on the inside.

Whoever was the casting director for this film done a fabulous job in picking all the cast. They couldn’t of picked a better Tracy, link, penny or seaweed. Especially for finding the girl who played Tracy as she had never done a film before
Me too! Rehearsals and shooting can be exhausting but as long as you have a good cast and creative team, the fun will keep going until you shoot the final frame.

Elijah Kelly is from my hometown he came into my work one day and I fangirled like crazy, I got a picture and talked about hairspray like a idiot lol. pretty sure he got a kick out of it. it's amazing my home town isnt impressive yet he got out and made something big of himself yet he still comes back and he so down to earth
That is so EPIC! I really haven't seen him in anything else until the Wiz Live last December. He should be making albums right now. In fact, I was thinking he should come back to Seaweed for NBC's Hairspray Live but I found out two weeks ago the producers already had quiet auditions to be Seaweed. Neil Meron & Craig Zadan who produced the movie as well as the previous NBC live musicals are producing the broadcast this December.
I honestly wish she explored her singing abilities more especially during the prime of her career. I feel she could've been a popstar easily in the early to late 2000s

Hope Lasseter right & I get that but Drew's voice sounded off a lot. It was as close as they could get I'm sure but it sounds so pop and autoned in hsm 1 from all the blending. In hsm 2 & 3 + hairspray zac's voice sounds very sexy and raw. It really fits his characters/him a lot more than what they tried to pass off as his. I'm just glad he was there for the later movies!
Just an amazing movie! The cast, producers and director really captured the essence of the 1960's from a hopeful standpoint for acceptance & equality. Easily one of my favorite musicals and movies!

I think it is such an incredible cast, everyone was so suited to their roles. This video just makes me well up with joy, hairspray is one of my favourite musicals and it was done very, very well! Amazing to see how each of them recorded too, nearly all of them in character, so incredible!

Hairspray isn't really one of my favorite musical movies but it does bring back memories of my early teens! I first saw it on Christmas Eve 2007 in one of my cousin's bedrooms while family members and I were having a party.
