- Pirelli are well and truly in the mountain bike game, and the Italian rubber maestros have a complete range for Trail riding, for Enduro, for eMTB use, for XC and light trail, and tyres purely for XC racing.
Pirelli use a conditions specific tread system, with Rear specific tyres and terrain specific tyres for Soft, Mixed or Hard terrain. With casings designed for XC, Trail, Enduro or eMTB, and tread designs based around conditions - Pirelli let their 150 years of expertise in rubber create the final part of the puzzle with their SmartGrip rubber compound.

Bought a Enduro R tire 29x2.4 for the front (Trek Fuel EX with 150mm fork) and love it, grips really well. Running about 24-25 PSI and has never slipped on the loose dirt that I ride on.
just got the s version 2,4 rading ( genius 910) testing them freday and will betwen 30 to 60 km , live in denmark there we have lorts of hart pack soft terrains and trails whit roots)) i be back)) happy chrismas))))
now i tryet the soft terrain tyre( s version) and they were great to run on were i live can feal when i conner etc etc good grib ophill as well))

Hey for southern california, I'm having trouble deciding between the Enduro M or th Enduro S. Any recommendations? The trails I ride are similar dirt consistency to Snow Summit, which is loose over hard, but there's quite a lot of rocks.
Look to S if you want more control in loose and deep dirt and wetter conditions, M if you'd rather have something that rolled faster and worked better on bigger rock sections and in a wider variety of trails.
What would you recommend for fast rolling street/light trail use for summer here in UK...im thinking the H front/back or shall I go with the M and do I need the specific R tyre on any combo
Trail 2.4 H front and back would be nice, but having an M on the front won't add much drag and will have a slightly broader performance window.
The R is great if you really want to prioritise climbing and braking traction. But for light trail the H will likely be the better choice given the faster rolling speed.

It really depends on the conditions more than the riding style. Go for the H in the back if you want faster rolling than R. Same up front, the M is a little faster rolling and better on rock and hardpack than the S. If you need more versatility for loam, sand and blown out dust - the S is the winner.
Which of these would you recommend for someone looking to do 50% light trail 50% street riding?

im debating on the rear tire, i do some light trail and 40kms long rides, will the mixed or rear specific would suit better for the rear?
The rear will offer the most consistent braking and traction - but for lighter use and longer rides, we'd choose the Hard conditions. It's a really good rear tyre for light trail use. Nice and fast with lots of edges for grip. If you have slightly more loam, go for the Mixed.

Probably a Soft front and Rear specific in the Trail 2.4. But a Mixed front and back in the 2.4 would actually suit the Sunshine Coast really well. Upsize to the Enduro model (with the HardWall casing( if you'd run DoubleDown casing.
@@Australianmountainbike Thanks, I think we have quite the mix terrain up here, some compact, some loose sandy berms, loose over hard rand rocky gardens. So I thought a Mixed upfront might do. However, comparing the Tread pattern and knob size to a Minion they are pretty small and are looking closer to an XC tire. Whereas the soft looks closer to a Minion. Sometimes I wonder if the Minions are overkill for here or maybe there perfect for these trails. I don't think I need the Hardwall casing, I don't ride that hard and would prefer a bit of weight relief.
@@duncanh6045 most people who use a minion may not need it. If you're not sure, get the soft conditions tyre as it has very deep and wide spaced tread. It will just run a lot slower when not in steep and loose terrain and on the compact berms. Bear in mind our testers thought the Soft would be their favourite, but it was Mixed that they kept on post testing...
@@Australianmountainbike Would there be much of a speed difference between Pirelli Soft and Minion? I'm tossing up between the New Vittoria Mazza's, Pirellis or just go with well-tested Minion and Aggressor.
@@duncanh6045 well the good thing about tyres is they're cheap(ish) to try a few options. Overall the rolling speed of all Scorpions has been great - it's a really good compound. We'd still like to see a softer compound available for race day - even if it gives up some rolling speed and tread wear.
