      @@todd3563 disrespectful, no of course not. But there is something sweet in it where George seems to say with the laugh/smile and his eyes, “look who’s writing another song “. Or was it to Paul and John was already at the drums? Anyways I have seen that scene in let it be many many times. I think I am one of the few that always adored that film so I always watched it at Beatle conventions each year.

      Because John and Paul were often song writing together in the early days George and Ringo would spend a lot of time together when they shared a flat in London.
      Even when Ringo joined the band there's the famous story of the Cavern club crowd booing him and wanting Pete back and George told them to shut up and got headbutted.
      The even repaired their relationship after George slept with Ringo's wife enough to when Ringo went to see him while George had days to live but had to leave for a flight to Boston as his daughter was going in for major brain surgery that he asked if he wanted him to go with him despite being barely able to move himself.

      Ringo played the same thing twice without resolving it, and then said, "That's all I've got." And they all burst out laughing together. Ringo kinda exposes himself as being almost clueless technically, quite a vulnerable moment indeed, but fixing this little riff was bread and butter basics for someone with George's prowess. The best bit was that final shot of Ringo flicking his hair back with his dignity restored, another example of the concept of 'Resolution', but in a cinematic context. What a delightful insight into their art and friendship.

    • @stanphillips7277
      @stanphillips7277 Рік тому +6

      @@sockpuppetbitmeYeah, it's a beautiful moment between them all but, in particular George and Ringo. While Ringo's playing George is staring intently as if nothing existed outside of what Ringo was playing. Then he goes to him and characteristically shows him saying "So it resolved itself ya see" . Of course after the burst of laughter which was from the abrupt stop I think; "That's all I've got" , rather than laughing at him .
      After the resolution that George knocks out with ease , for me it's that _smile_ as he says "So it resolves itself...." that says "That's all it needed , I think you've written a good song, something we can use" that gives Ringo the cinematic resolution (well put and well observed) where he stands up straight and whips his hair back in confidence.
      They were brothers after all and considering something like 90% of communication between people in general is non verbal one can only imagine at this point in their career and their friendship, their brotherhood that they were almost on a telepathic level.
      All those nights at the Cavern Club where refining their performances and their ability to communicate on stage, and now these years later they could read each other so well it's really a sweet almost voyeuristic look at the dynamics between the lads.
      Don't ya just love seeing them working on a song we all know when it was still in it's infancy? A cinematic trip back in time "Long Time Ago When (they) Were Fab" 🤣✌️❤️🎸🎶🙏

      @@DailyNihilism Oh yeah? Dylan and Clapton would have an influence on you huh? Two of my heroes really. Dylan is a better guitar player than people give him credit for and his sense of melody is awesome. His lyrics are what he's known for and I guess that's cool, I mean they're some of the best lyrics ever written. My octogenarian Mom used to say in this awestruck voice "How? How does he come up with this stuff!?"
      I'm a guitar player so I've loved Dylan's playing for ages because it's this cross harp picking technique he used after a few years of mainly strumming and he mastered it. It's very difficult for me at least.
      Would you believe Claptons stuff, his leads are easier or more in my wheelhouse than Dylan playing cross harp!? It's so far out of my comfort zone.
      In any case thanks for the trivia. I'm thinking about it and yeah, Claptons leads resolve themselves.
      I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall when those 3 guys got together...man!✌️❤️🎸🎶🙏

He told me it rubbed him the wrong way that Ringo said he was the best drummer alive (which I haven't been able to find, but he always says he remembers ringo saying it). While I don't think he's nearly the best (obviously), I think he gets a little too much hate. He may not be the most technically proficient, he may not play the most complex grooves, he may not beat carl palmer or neil peart in a drum solo battle... but you can't say the guy isn't creative.

I think honestly finding John and binding with him over both their mothers deaths probably really helped him get through those feeling early.
      As for the ego, it's VERY hard to not get one when you're constantly told how fantastic you are and how much influence you've had. He was also a showman, always wanting to be center stage, making everything the best it could be. That coupled with some perfectionism which he also shared with John. He's definitely more down to earth now which is nice to see. He's still the showman but he's definitely learned to be more humble over the years.
