The Nazarene Churches decided, (that women can be ordained, but I havent seen senior pastors in the Nazarene churches. We do not have another female pastors but we have two women that sometimes speak, not often. I dont think its a heaven or hell issue but I would not go to a church run by a female pastor. I wish the Bible had been clearer on this subject cause supposedly we, women, are not to speak in church at all. Thats what it states. Literal or not literal?????
@@pedinurse1 I've read into the women not speaking in church verse. If you read just a few verses down in 1 Corinthians 14, Paul encourages both men and women to prophesy and speak in tongues. So if he meant women were not allowed to ever speak in church at all, how could they prophesy. The key to understanding this is when Paul instructs the women to be silent and ask their husbands questions when they are home. In those days, men and women sat separately in church, so if women were trying to ask their husband questions during church, they would have to yell across the room. So he was telling the women of that church to stop being disruptive. But only a few verses later he tells men and women to prophesy and speak in tongues. This is why we can't take verses out of context, but need to read the whole passage. That said, the Bible is very very clear that women should not teach men. It says it multiple times, and in Titus 2 it instructs older women to teach the younger women. So any speaking in church should be done in an orderly, non-disruptive way, but women should never be a pastor/teacher over men in the church. We can evangelize and minister to people outside the church, and there are examples of that, but we shouldn't be pastors. If you read through 1&2 Corinthians, it's very obvious that the Church of Corinth was a bit of a mess 😂
The UMC is what clarified this for me. If you're willing to compromise on one part of the scripture then you're willing to compromise on any of it. Hopefully the SBC stands on the right side of this
And I have noticed that when women are in charge the narrative really changes and becomes too girly, for lack of another term. But you can have a real bad male pastor like the one we had who every week emphasized that the whole world was in chaos cause women didnt submit to men.Every week he pounded that in. I just left
@@pedinurse1Alley should not be talking about this man. Why do these women think it’s ok to get on social media discussing the sins of a man of God. She need to go sit down and close her mouth. Christian women DO NOT DO THIS. ITS regarded as gossip and SHE NEEDS TO BE QUIET.
Goodness! She made me cry when she was talking about marriage and kids! We do love them SO much and would do anything for them! ❤️ Biblical marriage and family is the best!
@@pedinurse1 Allie is not a pastor, and she would be the first to say so. A pastor is a shepherd over a local congregation of believers, and according to Scripture, each congregation is to have a plurality of elders(pastors), not just one, and they are all to be men.
My daughter and her husband recently started attending Saddleback in Lake Forest and I’m praying that they find another church that preaches sound Biblical doctrine. I listened to a few of the sermons and Stacy comes dangerously close to mishandling Scripture…80% of the “sermon” was about her family, feelings, ways to improve relationships, ways to get more involved at church…all layered with high doses of “encouragement” and she also references the enneagram. 😮 The worship team is of course incredibly gifted … always seems to be this way.
Andy and Stacy are still new to their roles at Saddleback. They came from their church they started in the Bay Area, and we all know what it takes to get people to attend church in the Bay area. She is a teaching pastor, and not the lead pastor. I'd say give it some time. They share roles in longer series. For example, in this new series Pastor Andy, Pastor Buddy, and Stacy have lead messages in the series. I found Pastor Buddy's the most engaging since I've heard his messages for years, but give them some time. Pastor Rick gave his endorsement to Andy, and the way he handled himself when someone in the audience interrupted the start of one of his messages sold me on him.
Keep praying & trying to influence them as you can to leave. As a former member I can tell you in many ways Saddleback is not about presenting the truth.
Laura just because a church doesn’t believe the same doctrine as you does not make it bad or wrong. The Enneagram is a personality test. That hardly seems harmful or going against The Bible. It might be helpful to figure out where your “beliefs” stem from and if they actually are things Jesus cares about. 🙏❤️
@@KBowWow75 you missed the point. The word pastor to describe a she is unbiblical and open rebellion towards God. True saving faith isn’t there when such sins are being played out daily.
I'm a member of Saddleback Church. I have been for 25 years. I cannot imagine my life without Rick Warren and Saddleback Church. Spiritual growth, fellowship. ministry opportunities and a deep relationship with Christ. Rick Warren without a doubt is the most humble, Christlike person I know. I do not feel the need to defend my pastor or church. It' where God lead me in my deepest need of God's love, mercy and wisdom..There are many good churchs...I"m so grateful for mine and our new Pastor Stacy and Andy Wood. Saddleback church has always been the subject of critics. That's fine!
I highly recommend the Mike Winger ‘women in ministry’ series for anyone interested in doing a thorough. thoughtful, most importantly Biblical deep dive (I mean, 6 hours just on the topic of head coverings deep dive 😳) on this subject!
Except he didn't investigate the cultural context of Ephesus so that was a bit sad 1 Tim 2 is written to the church in Ephesus where they experienced a revolt against Christianity (acts 19:23) because the silversmiths who made idols to the goddess Artemis were losing business. Once you have this context it makes sense why Paul says to pray for people so you can have a quiet and peaceable life. (Vs1-2) - he then goes on to reiterate that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man (vs 4-6). (Not Artemis) Vs 8 he says that men should pray and lift hands without wrath and doubting - this was unusual for men as they didn't typically partake in temple worship to Artemis unless they were eunuchs. Vs 9-13 Paul now addresses the women who are used the Doctrines and practices of artemis and sets this in order. When they read this letter, they would have understood he was correcting issues with the Artemis cult they came out of. The Artemis cult taught a backwards creation order. Woman created first, women have authority over men. Man was deceived in the garden. - so Paul's correction is not to say women cannot have any authority at all...but that women cannot use false doctrines to teach and to usurp authority (take by force or manipulation). He says to be in silence because of their false teachings. There is no prohibition against women being rightly appointed to leadership by a man or teaching sound doctrine. The last statement in the letter Paul says "women will be saved in childbirth" because the judgment of Artemis who was a fertility goddess was death in childbirth. So he was giving them proper doctrine and telling them not to fear. Once you read 1 Tim 2 understanding that the Artemis Cult had major influence in the city, it will become clear that it's not an outright prohibition for all church. Then once we go to 1 Tim 3, he continue with church order laying a groundwork so that they understand how to properly come out of the artemis style of leadership. I believe he addressses men and says "husband of one wife" not because he prohibiting women, but because he is speaking to the men who need to step up and take authority in the proper structure and to advise against the cultish polygamy. All that said, I believe a man should be the lead pastor of a church...but nothing indicates a male pastor cannot appoint a woman to a place of authority/leadership UNDER him if she is teaching sound doctrine. Hope this helps someone!
@@bridgetmccaskill4897 the difference is that she isn't at the pulpit at her church. any woman can tell others about the gospel, it's specifically about leading men in the church.
I had THREE successful & safe natural home births as a 35+ year old birthing mother. (My certified nurse midwife & certified doula team requires their clients to have the backup hospital plan in place in case of the unexpected emergency. ) This was the right choice for my family. ❤️🙏🤰🏼🤱🏼
And hopefully you are 5 minutes from the hospital because even that would not be enough in case of an emergency. By the time the ambulance gets there, ,then examined in ER by GYN, or even taken straight to maternity floor, you could have a dead baby, which happened on our maternity floor several times, just not worth it for me.
@@pedinurse1 you're over the top with your dead baby comment. And, more babies are injured in hospitals than in home births. The very day my baby was born at home, my backup hospital overdosed a celebrity's twins twice with blood thinners! Also, of course I'm 5 minutes from 2 hospitals...
I am a woman (hubby's pic). We're reading through the Bible with our kids, and we got to Korah's rebellion, where 250 Levites wanted to be the ones offering sacrifices in the temple instead of Aaron's descendants because they said all of the Israelites were priests to God. Didn't work out well for those guys. I told my sons that those folks might have really wanted to perform the sacrifices in service to God, but God is the one who determines how we worship Him and to do it any other way is rebellious and sinful. Same with women pastors. We must submit to the Lord's authority and not insist on our own way.
It is definitely important to have boundaries with abusive people (whether physical, emotional, mental, verbal, etc) even if that person is family. Consistent toxicity is wearing and makes it extremely hard to fulfill what God has called you to do especially if they malign you for speaking biblical truth. Boundaries are not unloving or unforgiving. They are healthy. You can forgive without allowing abuse to continue. Forgiveness is more about the person who is forgiving than the one that is forgiven. It guards your heart against bitterness. Unfortunately truly toxic abusive individuals will not accept our boundaries and they will call you unforgiving. All you can do is pray for them and continue living and speaking truth.
Jesus Christ died For Our Sins According to the scriptures and that he was Buried and that he rose again the third day praying for everyone everyday God bless you All
Amen sister! I dont feel gypped that I can’t be a pastor either. When you know and trust the Father’s character, you can just obey knowing He loves us and it’s for our good. He says no for our good. I once got accused of being divisive because I expressed my concerns over a woman teaching a Bible study that included men and was accused of not allowing her to exercise her gifts. It wasn’t true and I loved how you valued strengths, abilities and diversity in gifts and also respecting the roles, limitations and the boundaries set forth by Gods Word.
I suggest my short and free essay on Deborah. Men and women are perfectly equal spiritually. She was a pastor, according to the scriptures. This is how the Judges are described in Chronicles. God ruled Israel through the Judges. A Judge was the most important spiritual leader of that time period according to scripture. When a Judge died the people went back to their sinful ways. To say a woman can be a Judge over Israel, but a woman can't be an elder in a small church, just doesn't make any sense scripturally.
For thoes dealing with Toxic parent situations. There is a book called When to Walk away. And it has a Biblical base and helps you set boundaries and navigate or not navigate toxic relationships.
I'm so thankful for your podcast, Relatable. Your Spirit-filled/fueled presentation of God's Word, and Biblical Truth has been of great benefit to me. I thank you, and I thank God for you. (BTW... I think you would give an outstanding sermon, as well.)
I’m a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and I take care of babies in an intensive care. I see one or two every year from a home birth that didn’t go well. Saying you have a plan if something goes wrong is great but recognizing, executing and completing this plan before long term brain damage happens might be difficult in certain situations. It’s just something to consider and a risk you should be willing to take.
I think the reality is that birth in general can be risky. Sometimes practices that are done in hospital can cause issues that the doctor then has to fix. If doc wants to schedule mom in for an induction on his timetable and baby isn't ready on that timetable, things can go wrong, causing a c section or other issues. The Netherlands is very home birth and they have better outcomes than we do. Of course high risk pregnancies need to be handled in the hospital for sure. Not going to argue there.
I know of a recent home birth that went wrong & the baby passed away. As a nurse I believe the baby could have been saved if the baby had been born in the hospital. 😔
@@minagelina exactly! We're still discovering issues with my 12 year old son due to my being in labor for 4 days and being sent home 3x by the doctors. It finally took a c-section to determine that no my baby wasn't too big (my obgyn's opinion), he had the cord wrapped around his neck, over his shoulders, and up between his legs like a parachuter! He couldn't even reach my birth canal. We're lucky he survived, but no telling if there were moments when he didn't oxygen.
And while that is terrible, I know plenty of hospital birth horror stories that would curl your toes. Things can go wrong in either case, but a lot of the unnecessary hospital interventions can lead to complications. If you look at the statistics, home birth with a qualified midwife team has much better outcomes overall, much lower C-section rates, and much lower pelvic infection rates. Countries where home births/midwife led birthing is the norm have much better birth statistics. The USA has one of the highest infant and maternal death percentages in the developed world. Please do your research on this and look at the actual statistics. And nothing against women who choose to go to a hospital if that is where they feel safer. I've done too much research and know too many friends that had horrible hospital birth experiences. Most of them ended up going the midwife route with subsequent births and had much better experiences overall and healed and recovered better.
I'm so glad though, that social media's huge massive influence on people by women, who hear/see every word coming out of their mouth as "teaching", as media now makes them "influencers", a term not currently addressed by SBC. Your influence is HUGE and I enjoy it. But I'm not sure the Church has investigated the difference between "influencers" online and "teaching". I'm doubtful we've investigated this at all. By the way I live your show. Still this bears MAJOR thought.
Ok I have said this one hundred times, when Corey wrote the song Reckless Love he did not mean "reckless' literally. He took literary license in order to make a point. He meant that God went to all lengths, all extremes to show His love. He did not mean reckless in a bad way at all. Please yall take that out of your brains. I was there in Bethel Church, yes( the one that mainstream churches say is demon possessed. LOL) Nobody there, all 3000 people that night, believed for one nano second that Corey meant reckless in a literal way. I was blown away to hear these takes on this song which came from very mainstream churches. In fact it kind of hurt. The reaction to Coery's song was incredible that night. People came forward, repented, got delivered and saved. Need I say more. Remember, LITERARY License. Words can mean different things. I think Corey gave it a new meaning that night. I even hear people refusing to sing this song. How ridiculous. It's like believing that God has literal wings when He said He would "cover us with His wings'.
(Just responding to your comment, I have not yet watched this video.) For what it's worth: I've only heard the song once or twice because of the uproar over it. When I read the lyrics, the way you're explaining it here is how I first took it.
This song is what actually opened my eyes to how loved I was of God, after years in a cult of being told God would remove love, His prescence of I messed up! Reckless love is what saved me and gave me an actual encounter with Christ!
@@Yesica1993 exactly, I just dont understand the insanity. And when you hear Corey's testimony, how God brought him out of despair, it all makes sense, the fundamentalists need to chill and be quiet.
I am sooo frustrated by the people attacking this song. If they don't like it, much like anything, don't sing it. It's called poetry. Just like in Song of Songs....when Solomon calls a woman's hair a flock of goats, I mean come on. It's not literal. Corey used beautiful words in imagery. I hate that people have turned this song into something it isn't. And if you love the song, they attack you. I have seen tons of people argue and complain about you if you say anything good about this song. This argument is nothing more than legalism.

According to my study-Bible notes, Paul uses the verbal form of "teach" when he writes of women in the church, meaning that he is probably saying they are not to occupy the biblically defined church office of teacher (1 Cor 12:28). Also, Paul's instruction that they be taught in the church was actually a promotion for women of that time, and Paul writes that instruction as an imperative. (In some countries today, women are still denied education.) My notes say that it's possible some women took liberties with this newly-allowed position and pushed to become teachers, and that Paul was reacting to that. "Authority" (1 Tim 2:12) was reserved for the elders (1 Tim 5:17), who must be men (1 Tim 3:2,5).

I agree with you sis, and the SBC on their stand for the word of God (it's not even the words of Paul as much as it's the word of Christ). So, whose authority are they going by, Rick Warren, or a council, or someone behind the scenes? Who do they really serve? And that's the question for all people, and Christians; regardless of convention, fracture or a so-called movement.. Who follows the way, the truth, and the life? It's not a way, some truth and what you make of it. It's Following Him... I don't know that separation from them was the way to go. But now is a good time for dialogue with everyone, re: the authority of scripture. Especially if you are shy about the Spirit. If you don't follow the Bible, or authoritative interpretation, then you do what's good in your own press release...
@Beastbombshell I don't know if you're seriously asking or just trolling. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Because the Bible, in places like 1 Timothy and Titus and other passages lists the qualifications for pastors/church leaders.
21:40 Can be mentioned, my decision to leave the Swedish Church and convert to Catholicism quickly on my own instead of long term with SwCh was taken when the chaplain announced he would be replaced with a woman.
In the Netherlands, a third of births are home births and they do so within fifteen minutes of the hospital. I've had one of each and I preferred my home birth even though it didn't end up how I wanted it to go. A few tweaks and it would have been perfect.
Even the existence of the SBC is not a Bible based plan for congregations. In the Bible, each church is autonomous, led by its own eldership. Where does the idea of a convention over seeing a denomination come from?
The issue comes down to "authority" . . . if the pastor has some form of authority over the church, then it must reside in the men. Otherwise, there may be a situation where the wife would find herself in authority over her husband.
But a husband can rightfully appoint authority to his wife in certain areas without losing his headship. It's no different with a male pastor in a church. The 1 Tim prohibition is against women usurping authority which means take by force
I love your homebirth segment. I prefer homebirth, personally! My doctor says that women birth best where they feel most safe where ever that is, home, birth center, or hospital, and who ever that's with, doctor or midwife. And its not just a subjective opinion. Fear produces hormones that make birth more painful and more challenging. I like to encourage women to find a care provider that you trust and the environment that gives you the most confidence as a good starting point for a healthy birth. :)
Thank you very much for saying women cant be pastor's. Thank you for standing for God's Word. We men need to know Gods Word and teach our wives and children. Then our wives can teach other women and children. Single women can probably teach children also in sunday school but they need to firmly know the Word of God. Every church needs to make sure evety childrens teacher knows the Word of God and believes it.

While we're asking questions about women being pastors and if it is scriptural or not shouldn't we ask if the SBC is scriptural? Or what about a church having "campuses"? We should also ask the question, does the Bible allow for professionally paid clergy in the church? If the members of the body are all called to serve the body why are some paid professional servants while everyone else is volunteer servants?
As for SBC being scriptural I think we can start by reading the Baptist Faith and Message. Last I read it it seemed biblically sound. Paul was often financially supported by the churches he visited. He was a traveling evangelist so this might not be a one for one comparison. As a practical matter, a pastor who has a regular job throughout the week isn’t going to have much time to actually oversee the church. This is a difficulty a lot of very small churches face.
At our church, Wels Lutheran , women can pastor other women , but not to men. Is Rick Warren still pastor at Saddleback? I thought he retired. My friend who went there told me that.
I think people take 1 Timothy 2:11-15 out of context. At first glance I can see why people think Paul says women can’t be pastors but I he’s just referring to the VERY strong willed women at the time. He was just telling them to remain silent during the sermon the sermon so they don’t upstage the pastor and hold all questions until the end. The Adam and Eve reference was to remind them what happened the last time a strong willed woman went rogue against God. I learned a lot about the gospel from female pastors, and the ones I follow don’t nitpick scripture for anyone.
How do you know that is what Paul was saying? Were women the only ones that were strong willed and interrupting? Surely some men were too. Why would Paul address a command for orderly conduct only to women?

I get creeped out when a woman calls herself a pastor and I refuse to call her Pastor nor listen to her preach. Your wife isn’t a pastor just by marrying you and qualified to preach sermons to the whole congregation. I’ve worked in nursing homes and pastors and they really like having female “pastors”. You’re not a pastor. I also don’t feel comfortable when a woman leads a wedding or a funeral.
I can't remember, but when they were ordained, I thought I heard they went to seminary together, or whatever the form was for Evangelicals. I think when Pastor Andy was going through that, Stacy was with Andy at the time and they may have gone through it together. I'm not 100% on this though.
I always want to go to an atheist convention or something and find a seat to the next event by taking off some papers being used to “keep a seat” and then just sitting there. I think that it would be clear from the irritation or anger I would receive from the person who believed that is their seat was their seat. Could they tell me that I am in the wrong, is there objective wrong, why is it wrong to find a seat and what rule says you can save a seat? Of course, I think the reason they thought they could reserve the seat was a common morality.
I have a question for couples........(and others do the same even if they're not attached). When one of you are laying down with your head on the lap of your spouse how do you watch tv or dvds? I tried it a number of times and I still cannot watch anything like that. : )
Imagine a situation in which you move to a local reformed Anglican church where this - and other messy conversations - are had. That's my sad life right now. No - women should not preach, hold the office of elder/priest, be appointed as bishop etc etc. I get tired of saying this. 😆
In the Catholic Church this requires only a simple explanation. Can a woman teach others about Jesus? Yes. Can a woman share the Good News? Yes. During the Liturgy of the Word can a woman read from the Old Testament, read from one of the New Testament letters - or lead the singing of the Psalms? Yes. Can a woman lead The Prayers of the People? Yes. Can a woman deliver a homily, consecrate the Eucharist, hear Confessions, or be ordained in general? Absolutely not. That’s what 1 Timothy 2:12 means with respect to not having authority over a man.
A church is the gathering of saved believers in Christ Jesus! The ones supposed to teach this people are men, specially elders laborers in word and doctrine! That God requires us to give double honor! Women can try lead the unsaved, lost, and confused sinner! But never a man that already repented and now is walking with Christ! Is just the way it is!
Most complimentarian women aren't consistent, though, while they will confirm and stand by 1 Timothy and won't teach and preach. They don't wear headcoverings during worship, 1 Corinthians 11. Both scriptures give the reason for creation.
First, a distinction should be made between the meaning of the text and its significance. The meaning is what it says to people in that culture, and the significance is how it applies to our cultural situation today. There is little doubt about its meaning. It means exactly what it says. When the women of Corinth threw back their veils and prayed in church, they dishonored their head (husband, 11:3, 7, 9, 11). In that day, the veil was a symbol of a woman’s respect for her husband. In such a cultural context, it was important that a woman wear a veil in church while praying or prophesying. Second, there is a difference between command and culture. The commands of Scripture are absolute-culture is relative. For example, few believe that Jesus’ command to His disciples not to have an extra pair of sandals with them while on an evangelistic tour applies today. And most Christians do not literally “Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss” anymore (1 Thes. 5:26). Nor do they believe that “lifting up holy hands in prayer” is essential to public prayer (1 Tim. 2:8). There is a principle behind all these commands that is absolute, but the practice is not. What Christians must do is absolute, but how they do it is culturally relative. For example, Christians must greet one another (the what), but how they greet each other will be relative to their respective cultures. In some cultures, as in the NT, it will be with a kiss, in others with a hug, and in still others with a handshake. This principle is also true of the practice of wearing a veil. That is, women in all cultures at all times must show respect for their husbands, that is Paul’s point in referring to the creation order, and also when he says that women are not to have Authority over men in the church. (the what), but how this respect is manifest may not always be with a veil. For example, it might be with a wedding ring or some other cultural symbol.
The covering is referring to her hair as 1 Cor 11:16 states. Her hair (long hair, distinguished from a man's shorter hair) cover is her sign that she has the man and Christ and God as authority over her (verses 3 & 10). The covering has nothing to do with physical cloth but is her natural hair scripturally which hair is her glory (v.15).
Agree! WRECKLESS is a poorly written song. I refuse to sing it. This song promotes bad theology- God is consistent with his character and attributes. Therefore, we should sing worship songs with correct theology and reverence.
Amen! Totally agree, no one would want a reckless surgeon or put their children in a car with a reckless driver. Recklessness is not an attribute of God.
I used to sing this song in church and roll my eyes at those who had issue with the word. I have since changed my perspective. If you do a search in Bible Gateway for the word, "reckless", none of them are positive. Why would I want to describe God in this way? Judges 9:4 And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-berith with which Abimelech hired worthless and reckless fellows, who followed him. Proverbs 14:16 One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless. Jeremiah 23:32 Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the Lord, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the Lord. Luke 15:13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. 2 Timothy 3:4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
Perhaps I missed the actual answer... but did she answer the question, "How do you honor your mother & father when there has/is abuse?" I heard a lot of excuses to not honor them if they are bad. But God commandment doesn't give us excuses, He tells us to honor them. So how do we reconcile this command when they are awful humans
I don't think women can be pastors. Even so, that does not mean that they cannot study theology or their bible, or teach for example to their children, to a group of women, or in a certain situation take care of a group of young people for a while, or serve in many other things, for example, in worship, in prayer, etc., even in many occasions what they say they cannot do, such as preaching, they do not realize that they do it every day when they go out to evangelize, because they take the message to the people to accept the Lord, therefore they are preaching, or when their husband or a family member or child is going through difficult times, and they begin to talk to them about the gospel and the mercy of the Lord, they also minister to them about the Lord, about all that they have known about Him through the reading of the bible and its study, therefore they are also preaching, they are evangelizing. Something that I don't like about pastors and women who call themselves pastors is that they lose sight of the fact that the church is not theirs, it is not the church of the pastor or the church of that sister, THE CHURCH BELONGS TO THE LORD, PERIOD. We have to be thankful for the service that we can or that they can render today within the church, but we should not lose sight that we are being servants, we are not owners of the congregation nor of the service that we are doing.
That simply means every believer has direct access to God through Christ and we need not a priest to intercede. Had nothing to do with pastoring God’s people.
Peter's words are often misquoted as saying such, but he is prophesying of the Millennium where Christians will assume priesthood duties _after_ they are truly reborn into God's Family. The Bible doesn't say believers have the authority of a priest. Ephesians show Paul saying God ordains _some_ true Christians to be pastors. The "priesthood of believers" doctrine is a Protestant falsehood.
Biblically the word translated as “benefactor” of Paul for Phoebe it the Greek word that means overseer. Go look it up. Also, Junia was an apostle. Historical documents confirms the scripture. Anna was a prophet in the temple. Deborah was a prophet and judge in authority over men in Israel. So, to say it’s clear because you take one scripture that’s says a woman is not to be in authority over man(the word in English translates to man is the word that in Greek means husband) is ignorant. Furthermore the scripture that says women should be silent in church has nothing to do with a woman preaching. If you hold to that scripture to support this belief you are making up your own un- Biblical inference and taking the verse out of its context. You can’t change it to fit your explanation. Scripture interpretation has to be done as a whole and not take one scripture out of context. Scripture doesn’t contradict. If it seems to contradict then one fails to understand. Study the Greek. As far as homosexuality every scripture says it’s an abomination unto God. Scripture instructs that if one in sexual sin claims to be Christian have nothing to do with that person. So to cast out Saddleback Church who has strong scriptural support for allowing woman pastors yet allow a church to remain associated who has homosexual pastors demonstrates how far SBC is falling away from the truth. It’s sad.
I've seen a few pastors in my day that died, and their wives or daughters took over as the pastor, and the result was a church the shrunk in membership with mostly women remaining. The body of Christ do need men of God in the pulpits like it was in the early church. Yet women do belong in church ministry, but not as heads of churches. I've even witnessed pastor's wives be called 'first lady', or second in command., also disorderly
Many churches have head pastors, associate pastors, teaching pastors, etc. One can be a pastor by title and have a role in a ministry without being the head of the church. I'm Catholic, so I think the term pastor may be thrown around too much, but I'm not in a position to say since my declared denomination doesn't have pastors. That being said, I do watch Saddleback services live on Sunday and Fr. Schmitz sermons on Monday morning since I moved to Korea a few years back. Catholic English mass here is only once ever 3 weeks, even though I live in the 2nd largest city in Korea. That's not enough to become a member, so I'm limited to online masses to receive the word of God in my language. Because of the time difference, the only way I can watch live services on Sunday is through Baptist/Evangelical live streams from their Saturday night services. Saddleback was the one I most related to.
A woman in leadership under a male Pastor is not disorderly as long as she was placed in that position of authority by the male pastor. The instruction in 1st Timothy is against women usurping authority, not just having a general authority.
@BEABEREAN yeah, I don't disagree. I just didn't see evidence of some ministerial gift on a woman who just happened to be married to a local pastor. With that being, she automatically becomes titled as a co- pastor. Some of which I thought should be sitting in the seats with the rest of the congregation and not on the pulpit. Kinda the way nepotism functions where a preacher puts his sibling in a leadership role that's obviously not gifted. I still see this today,so sad.
Allie can you please invite Dr. Leighton Flowers on your podcast to talk about Calvinism and another soteriological perspective called provisionism. His UA-cam channel is called soteriology 101. PLEASE it’s my biggest UA-cam video request!
Women teaching women is just fine! I’d be cautious though because God gives clear directions to older women to teach young women about biblical womanhood and many women love to teach biblical truth that really should be taught by a male.
If they neglect or barely cover biblical womanhood, I do believe it’s a red flag. I also worry about Allie because she really goes deeply into things that I think actually out her at risk as a woman. It’s a very dangerous world and there’s reasons why God tasks men and women with different roles.
You brought me to tears at the end of this episode. Being a wife, mom, and (homeschooling) Grandmother, are thee greatest joys and blessings ever! All the glory goes to our loving God and Father ♥️🙌♥️
Good job mom, grandma 🙏🛐💞👍🏼🥰
“Can women be pastors?” “No.” I’m glad we could clear that up for Rick Warren today 😂

God has changed my mind on this over the last couple years and after experiencing the compromise in churches that usually starts with this one…..
So true! It seems like this is the gateway into bigger unbiblical doctrines.

Entertainment.
Gets $ in the plate

I don't need to watch Winger's series on it when i can just flip to the Paul's letters to the Corinthians and see Paul say that God outlawed it.
Except he didn't investigate the cultural context of Ephesus so that was a bit sad
1 Tim 2 is written to the church in Ephesus where they experienced a revolt against Christianity (acts 19:23) because the silversmiths who made idols to the goddess Artemis were losing business. Once you have this context it makes sense why Paul says to pray for people so you can have a quiet and peaceable life. (Vs1-2) - he then goes on to reiterate that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man (vs 4-6). (Not Artemis)
Vs 8 he says that men should pray and lift hands without wrath and doubting - this was unusual for men as they didn't typically partake in temple worship to Artemis unless they were eunuchs.
Appreciate you continuing to not be ashamed of what the Bible teaches! Good job Allie!

I LOVE your clear, concise and Biblical response to the question about women pastors. ❤️

There’s definitely a risk like in everything in life, sadly in hospitals this risk is still very high.
May there be a real separation in the pulpits from the real Shepherds and the goats as well as God's order restored.

Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud is wonderful!
(Just responding to your comment, I have not yet watched this video.)
For what it's worth: I've only heard the song once or twice because of the uproar over it.

(In some countries today, women are still denied education.)
My notes say that it's possible some women took liberties with this newly-allowed position and pushed to become teachers, and that Paul was reacting to that.
"Authority" (1 Tim 2:12) was reserved for the elders (1 Tim 5:17), who must be men (1 Tim 3:2,5).
Close but not quite. Women in this gentile region of the world we're actually more educated. Especially in Ephesus where women were were the temple priests to Artemis.

Check out Mike Winger for a comprehensive series (not quite complete) on women in ministry. Very fair analysis of Biblical text

Where did you go to college and how many years?

I read Boundaries years ago and loved it!!! Townsend and Cloud which I'm sure you know by now (when you might read this comment.) LOL
Boundaries by Henry Cloud is the book she referenced
At our church, Wels Lutheran , women can pastor other women , but not to men. Is Rick Warren still pastor at Saddleback? I thought he retired. My friend who went there told me that.
Short answer: No... Long Answer: No... any questions take it up with God Almighty via what He told The Apostle Paul to write...
@@ethanweber7976 one could use the same argument when men are being addressed in the Bible.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

What does how you "feel" have to do with anything?
I always want to go to an atheist convention or something and find a seat to the next event by taking off some papers being used to “keep a seat” and then just sitting there. I think that it would be clear from the irritation or anger I would receive from the person who believed that is their seat was their seat. Could they tell me that I am in the wrong, is there objective wrong, why is it wrong to find a seat and what rule says you can save a seat? Of course, I think the reason they thought they could reserve the seat was a common morality.

Totally agree! Well said!
Women can't be priests because we cannot change the form or matter of the Sacraments that Jesus gave us.
@@angelam3517 the Catholic Church does a lot of things that are not biblical
@Angela M: That’s correct.
@Paula N: The subject here is women pastors and on this issue the Church is absolutely correct.

I used to sing this song in church and roll my eyes at those who had issue with the word. I have since changed my perspective. If you do a search in Bible Gateway for the word, "reckless", none of them are positive. Why would I want to describe God in this way?
Judges 9:4

Proverbs 14:16

I’m a 7th Day Adventist Christian. And no, there’s no biblical backing for female pastors. I’m not for it in any Christian denomination.
God's Word says no female pastors. End of story. Anything else is against God's Word. Period.
@Beastbombshell God's Word is the ultimate authority. That ends the story and any discussion.

@@dfischer5878 Depends on whether you use a translation like the CEB or CEV, or one that would disallow Paul himself from being an elder.
What happened the priesthood of all believers? Is a pastor a priest?
That simply means every believer has direct access to God through Christ and we need not a priest to intercede. Had nothing to do with pastoring God’s people.
Peter's words are often misquoted as saying such, but he is prophesying of the Millennium where Christians will assume priesthood duties _after_ they are truly reborn into God's Family. The Bible doesn't say believers have the authority of a priest. Ephesians show Paul saying God ordains _some_ true Christians to be pastors. The "priesthood of believers" doctrine is a Protestant falsehood.
Why do we even call people pastor? Jesus said not to do that.
Spoiler alert: no haha
Henry Cloud and somebody Townsend. My mom hated that book.
It’s sad.
Um... well... no. Phoebe was a "prostatis" -- benefactor, patron, protector, leader. The word for overseer is "episkopos."

What?! I didn't know this is was a thing. I was married to a pastor, it would NEVER even occur to me to do that!
@Yesica1993 from PA, it was church of God in Christ, denomination usually, and other, independent black churches
