Oh, I hear ya, Sarah. My studio is very small too! I think it's about time I buy that book! Nice to know a little about glaze recipes. I have a few, but what stops me is a lack of space. YOU seem to do just fine, so I guess I don't have an excuse!😅 on my list, too....frozen pond. I am ready and armed with my RHC!😂Thanks for sharing, Sarah!

Ohh, can't wait to see how your frozen pond tests come out! Mine are in the kiln now and I have no idea if I put the spots close enough together.

@threelittlepotters Ya, that's my concern, too, how close to put the spots. OK, looking forward to your opening!

Hi Sarah! I love that book. And also John Britt's Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. Interesting, my ceramic evolution has been almost the opposite of yours. I had more training and focus on the making than the glazing. I also started with the home-mixed glazes and only recently got into commercial glazes because of the combos I've seen on YT. I have found that putting commercial glazes over some dipping glazes doesn't adhere as well, so I've started making sure that I spritz the dipping glaze first, or apply the brushing glaze first, then dip. Have you experienced that?

So I don't have any commercial dipping glazes. I only buy small containers of those to accent glazes I mix myself. I am not sure if it's the additives and mediums in those commercial formulas that don't play well with each other or what. I've certainly seen those results in the forums too. I have not had that problem with glazes that I mix and dip, then use a commercial brush on glaze as an accent. When I mix a new glaze I'll usually do a small test with each major brand. If one spectrum floating glaze crawls on one of my mixed glaze, likely they all will. Variegated Slate Blue is a mixed glaze I love, but it will often crawl when using commercial glazes over it. For the most part though glazes mixed from scratch don't share the same problems as commercial dipping glazes.

Are you starting your monetization process, Sarah! Other artsy job, what's that?

I still don't have enough watch hours yet! My other business is wedding photography and it's busy season here in Maine. I have around 50 weddings this year, and I usually have to stop doing pottery entirely during it.. . but youtube is super motivating, so I'm going to keep trying through the fall.

@threelittlepotters OH MY GOSH! THAT'S a whole other intense creative outlet! That's amazing, Sarah! Weddings are no small potatoes! You have to know your stuff. I am impressed!📷
