Great to hear you’re going to do gas cone 10 reduction - so much fun! First time changing elements in my Skutt kiln today - thanks for your video on doing that! Aurora Green over Winter Wood is beautiful to try! Another is White Opal over Blue Frost at cone 8 - so cool! Thanks for all your videos!
If you like midnight rain over winter wood, you NEED to try midnight rain over over white! I use amaco’s celadon snow, but I bet any other white would give the same effect. The colors separate out a lot and looks super cool!
I have a bunch of mayco glazes, Alabaster being one, that I’ve never found a good combo for, and now I’m so excited to try the combos you’ve given! Thank you so much! 😍
I totally love that you edit in some of your dipping so we can directly relate to the process that resulted in the outcome. Having to imagine it is almost useless. Like, exactly how long did you hold it under, and exactly how deep did you dip that top etc etc
Been doing pottery for years. Love the color combination you have! Been taking classes at a local potters studio and she only does gas. Also Raku and sager. Not my favorite. Always fun to see what the reduction does to the glazes especially when you use the same glaze on mugs or whatever but some have been at the top and others at the bottom. Glazing tonight so was looking inspiration..although her glazes are only cone 10.
I'm super excited for you with the gas kiln! I picked one up last year, but haven't gotten it set up yet. Thanks for sharing your glaze combos, and I'm looking forward to seeing your experiments with reduction firing!
EPIC KILN UNLOADING! Greetings from Puerto Rico - Im hoping to meet up with Bianca at Mano Astudo. Thanks for sharing your glaze combos will have to try some since Ive been an amaco glazer for a long time. Also didn’t realize you’re firing to ^7/8 I usually fire to ^5/6.
What is the new gorgeous glaze combo? There’s so many colors on it it’s just amazing! Turquoise, red, orange - WOW!! fun video! Would love to know that combo! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I just spent almost $200 at MN Clay a couple of weeks ago and it looks like I'll be making a trip there later this week to get some of the glazes you mentioned that I don't have.
Thank you so much for sharing! So excited to try some of these out! Just wondering if you add flux at all? I am brand new to pottery/glazing so I’m sorry if this is a silly question
Thank you for sharing your glaze combos. I love them all! I want to start firing up to cone 6, but I'm not sure how to set up the fire curve. May I ask you how you set up yours? If you don't want to share that's fine. But if I would appreciate it. Have a good one!
You fired these to ^7/^8? any hold? I would like to try out your combos! Very pretty! I mostly fire to ^ 5 with a 14 minute hold. I also have a few of these glazes in pints... 3 coats brush on or 2? Love them all!!!!❤
They all look great! Trying to switch my school over to Mayco…two questions: do you use wax resist on bottoms, and do you use a bench grinder for drips?
Hello, great video thank you! Beautiful combos 😍 do you test your dinnerware to check it is safe for food use? I have seen a lot of information online about testing your dinnerware to avoid toxic chemicals being released especially from mixing different glazes together. All a bit confusing any help would be great! Thanks
Thank you son much for showing this!! You fire to a cone 7 don’t you? That would be helpful to know when people are trying these combos. I also wanted to ask, I hear a lot of pinging, do you have problems with crazing? Thanks.
02-04-2023. Dear john presock your bisce wera priore to glazing to reduce running and make a bead line to stop any over flow. What is your base glaze???Allso why don,t you do wax resist on the bottem,?? Have you ever seen Presendent Carter White Hause dinner set, your style and glazes remind me of them.Latter from Germany.
I know mayco as brush on glaze. Do you buy in bulk as a professional potter? Can you just scale up the brush glaze and dip, or do you need to add a floating agent or something? I've always wondered🤔
Mayco also makes powdered form in 10lbs. So you can mix with water. These are available through mayco and their distributors. More economical and quicker than pints.
I am having a terrible time with my advancer shelves. Out of 60 mugs, at least 10 out of every load sticks to the shelf and cracks all the way around the bottom edge of the mug. Chunks come off of the bottom and makes them completely unsellable. Can you help me?
Can you tell me how you re fire your cups that dripped a lot upside down ? I thinking you but a post on the inside but how does that not stick to the inside glaze . ? Thank you
G'day Joh from Sydney Australia, just a question about the clay - is cone 7/8 clay more robust than mid-fire 5/6? Does it make a difference? Thanks for another great video!
You know what you can do, put the sets that you don’t want to change color on a different shelf in the kiln all the way at the bottom or at the top. That way they all have the same color without changing. I hope you understand what I’m saying. This advice is for anyone.
Oh my gosh, you're so generous to share your glazing techniques. Thank you so much! I just keep learning new and exciting things from you.
Duuuuude, thank you!!!! I am new to pottery, and glazing is a huge learning curve for me. Great videos
Welcome new Anne, fun stuff
Thank you isn't enough, but it's all that I've got. Your glaze combos are stunning and I appreciate you taking the time to share them with us.
Love your enthusiasm!
Wow! It's just amazing, that you share your glazing tips like that. I'm in heaven right now and thank you a million times🎉
What is the desert sunset combo please 🙏
Coooool I love how you made this video. I didn't start pottery yet but in the binge watching phase and this video is great. Thanks, you rock
4/2/2023 great combos and looking forward to gas kiln videos!
John, did you say how you got desert sunset? It is stunning!
Thank you for sharing, Jon. You're an inspiration to us newbies.

Love your videos thanks for sharing
Can u make a video on how to avoid warping. Plates and boards. Thanks for your amazing content
Yes - HUGE issue!!!
Please Jon do another one of these! I’d love to see your new favorites each year or maybe every 6 months!! Please and thank you!!
Amazing! As usual. I didn’t get the combo for your last pink and Norse blue combos. You do know you have us all addicted to Mayco glazes now!
These are beautiful combinations! Thank you so much for sharing

Thank you. I love the copper and green tea combo.
How exciting! Looking forward to more videos.

Thanks for sharing this kiln opening. Beautiful pieces.
Thank you for sharing these combinations! I especially love the desert sunset. Would you mind sharing how you achieved that one?
Thank you so much for sharing!

These are all absolutely beautiful, but I gotta ask, how did you do the desert sunset one? It's gorgeous.
Great video and explanation to glazes 🙌🏻love your content and how you find your place in pottery. Be proud and shine , like your glace 🙌🏻🎶🤘🏻😉🥰
I love those insanity ones 🤘🏻
Do you share your desert sunset combo?
I like more of the rust colored palette your new combo explores! You're getting a gas kiln?!?! Very jealous! Can't wait to see some of those results!
I'm super excited for you with the gas kiln! I picked one up last year, but haven't gotten it set up yet. Thanks for sharing your glaze combos, and I'm looking forward to seeing your experiments with reduction firing!
Like them thanks for sharing

What kind of stilt set up do you use to fire upside down? How do you avoid pocks in the pot?
These are beautiful! Thank you for sharing! What is the glaze combo on the dinnerware you unloaded first?
Love the video! Thanks for the tips! Was wondering if you’ve talked about warping and how to prevent it in plates. My charcuterie board warped 😢
Today's a glazing day for me- thanks for helping me get hyped up for what is usually my least favorite part of the ceramics making process!😂
Thank you! What would the desert sunset look like at cone 6 please?
Thanks for sharing!

You didn’t share the desert sunset combo. What glazes did you use on that one? TIA
Green tea over copper ore !
love my gas kiln ❤
Can you explain how to use a stilt when you fire upside down? Do you get pinholes?
How do you stilt pieces you are refiring upside down? My stilts would leave raised marks.
You fired these to ^7/^8? any hold? I would like to try out your combos! Very pretty! I mostly fire to ^ 5 with a 14 minute hold. I also have a few of these glazes in pints... 3 coats brush on or 2? Love them all!!!!❤
I think I missed the combination for the Desert Sunset. Anyone know what's the combo for Desert Sunset please?
Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing. What cone are they fired to?
Cone 7 a few parts of the kiln get to cone 8!
They all look great! Trying to switch my school over to Mayco…two questions: do you use wax resist on bottoms, and do you use a bench grinder for drips?
When you refire upside down, so you get any stilt indents on the rim of the mug?
Love itttt
Question Jon I love the desert sunset but when i looked it up it said laguna but looks pink is that not the same glase? I have to have some!
I really want to know what winter woods over copper ore looks like
Where did you buy these glazes? What colors and brands are they?
Gas kiln! Super excited for you

I do have one question. What advantages are there to getting the dry glaze mix as opposed to the glazes in the jar?
thanks
hi, why do the glaze seem to "drip" and flow over....can't I glaze precise shapes ?

Where do you purchase your glaze? Mayco online doesn't look like I can order directly from them right now.
What clay do you use? My Norse Blue has never looked blue... more green than anything......... if I put it on white glaze, then it's blue.
Where do u get your glazes

@@patriciasadlertrainor6771 I'll have to find a distributer that has more than the pints then. Thanks for the answer!
I have not been able to get butter cream for a year are they making it again?
I have also not been able to get it for a very long time. They assured me they would be making more this year !
Where do you buy your glazes from? Do you buy dry mixes or liquid form?
Where can I buy Mayco glazes in 5 or 10lb bags and not pints?
I am having a terrible time with my advancer shelves. Out of 60 mugs, at least 10 out of every load sticks to the shelf and cracks all the way around the bottom edge of the mug. Chunks come off of the bottom and makes them completely unsellable. Can you help me?

? Thank you
I use a stilt on top of a post and then balance upside down ! As long as the glaze isn’t too thick the stilt pops right off !
@@Jonthepotter thank you
Excellent! Party on!
G'day Joh from Sydney Australia, just a question about the clay - is cone 7/8 clay more robust than mid-fire 5/6? Does it make a difference? Thanks for another great video!
How are your dripped mugs coming off your kiln shelves? Magician?
Extreme newbie here, which cone are you firing these??
What cone do you fire?
Rewatched a DDOI video, found this guy, totally into clay now.
Edit: i mean i started watching a couple more videos then got into it, not this one
Good thing you own some coffee shops 🎉
