Bog-guy , definitely mysterious but in comparison to the other Houses mentioned in that list there is just basically no information about them beyond the current generation (and not even much with the current lot) , so very little to go off of in terms of theorizing and discussion ; its mostly pure conjecture and speculation. At least the other mysterious Houses mentioned we have stories from different time periods throughout the histories to dig into a bit (some more than others). Anything related to House Reed / their members and anything beyond this generation is an incredibly short conversation. Granted I will acknowledge definitely likely some mysteries associated with them , although given the actual narrative space left with so many other plot lines and character arcs to wrap up there is not much likelihood of us getting that much information about the Reeds beyond a bit related to the current narrative and / or around Robert's Rebellion & ToJ. And of course it could change but I do not see it likely for the Reeds to get much mention or focus in any of the upcoming companion novels or novellas either ; although I hope i am wrong and we get some surprise inclusions.

It's possible that Euron is going to slaughter the Hightowers but it's also quite possible that Leyton Hightower is waiting Euron in is tower as an ally, as his loyal servant and perhaps even as his stepfather. If the Hightowers are practicing sorcery, I could guess that lord Leyton and his daughter Malora the Mad Maid saw the coming of Euron Greyjoy. One thing is certain for me : I can't think that the Oldman of Oldtown is waiting for his death while doing nothing.

If Euron burns the Hightower, it will be a giant flaming sword with a black dragon bone hilt. Bonus points if before it burns, people get murdered in there, making it a giant bloody sword. My joke theory is that when Euron gets to the top of the tower, he see's a crazy old wizard man, Lord Leyton and he reminds him of Bloodraven, and throws him off the the tower. No but seriously, everyone in Oldtown is probably going to die, we have to see all these big fleets and armies that are left get mauled so there's less resources for when its important.

Excellent stuff with equally interesting subject matter , the Hightowers / their actual tower definitely some of the most mysterious and fascinating elements of the ASoIaF narrative and its history. Definitely subscribe to the base of the Hightower being evidence of a pre-Valyrian dragon-riding culture likely which were GEotD and that some remnant of them , more likely than not after the empire's collapse post the Bloodstone Emperor's demise & fallout who taught the Valyrians dragon-riding and everything associated with it including the genetic component and most likely dragon-steel etc. That added element with the site of the actual tower just brings the whole mystery , significance and intrigue with the Hightowers to another level.
And in general the Ht's are a mega powerful / influential House who have their hands in almost every facet of Westerosi life which they use as vehicles for said influence(s) the Citadel , the Faith , banking , at times intermarrying with the needed powerful House(s) at any given time and dabbling with seemingly hidden arcana which has them operating on another level than the masses. They are masters of wielding influence (in many ways the most powerful / influential House in the realm) through all those vehicles for their own agendas and their methodology behind that even with a large powerful army and all those spheres of influence at their disposal that they seem to possibly control or at least significantly leverage ; but seemingly never use any of it to degree to draw the ire or attention from the masses in doing so. They are certainly tucked away in their ivory tower for the most part. Although I expect with Euron closing in , dragons soon returning to the continent and the impending threat of the Others ; that those factors' converging will force the Hightowers down literally and figuratively from their tower to get involved to a degree the Ht's have not in generations or even millennia. Look forward to see what comes from this near unprecedented level of involvement from House Hightower.

@@DavidLightbringer absolutely , the companion books and those asides in the main series we are getting a host of influential Hightowers holding a variety of high level positions in the distant past up to the present and all throughout in-between. And there is a history of the Ht's mitigating threats like the Andal invasion , the Conquest & subsequent Targ monarchy , disease outbreaks , invading Ironborn forces among other threats. Getting more and more examples of them in positions of power and influence so often spanning so many eras past and present and mitigating threats could be giving us glimpses & hints of their potential role(s) in the remaining books in the series.

Could Malora be to Euron what Tyanna was to Maegor?
And speaking of Maester Luwin/inter-maester conflict, it seems very odd that he taught the Citadel's narrative on magic, yet he made a concerted effort (while mortally wounded) to die in front of the weirwood. Nah. Idk , I think it was originally built by Pre-valyrians on then solid land to access trade in the narrow and shivering seas. At that time the moat was a costal city and had a thriving Harbor . But after dornebreaker , sea levels fell and the land became marshy and the coastline expanded to move east leaving behind marshes which spread to the western parts as well and the moat was abandoned and much of it fell back into nature , except for the stone towers of course , before being briefly occupied by the Squishers which came up the Fever or via the marshes and lent it it's oilyness and then being abandoned or beaten off by either the CotF or FM and finally being turned into a fortress by the first men.

May be the Hightowers and the Citadel just tell everyone that magic is gone to keep the monopol on it... Like they keep the Glasscandles low key intentionally, so they can abuse it without anyone noticing... And yes, Sallera/Alleras and Marwin clearly abuse the Glasscandles...

Even with the Iron Fleet, the Iron Men simply don't have the man-power to take the city. Any kind of blockade/ naval siege would be useless. Old town has more men, more supplies, much of the power of the Reach, friends nearby . . . just as much as men can't walk on water, ships can't swim over the land.
These are strategic elements that Martin takes into account during the battles in his book.
The result of this battle, I believe, will be more akin to what we saw with Stannis' shadow son killing Renly. But Old Man Hightower shouldn't be underestimated- he's been up in his tower for ten years (presumably practicing magic). Some crazy s*** is gonna go down.
I'm tempted to say that too much symbolism and narrative building has gone into Euron's development for him to lose, but we've seen bigger upsets in ASOIAF. Whatever happens will be insane . . . Edit: but yes, I am also inclined to think that somehow Euron will take High Tower and do some really nasty things (I like the army of the deep theory presented here) . . . we're gonna see the rise of the Iron Men for a time before someone finally stomps it out.

I also was surprised that you did not mention Qyburn at all in your video. As an ex measter he is clearly putting his learnings from the Citidel to work in KL. The key to defeating Robert Strong will likely be there if anywhere, and anyone going up against Cersei will need to deal with the Mountain. It would not surprise me if Cersei makes a deal with the devil (Euron) and Euron defeats Robert Strong with something he learned in Old Town. Also, I wonder if there is a misdirect at the TOJ. I think what happened during the Long Night is that a group of Dragon Lords where sent to fight the White Walkers. That is why we have the "hero" show up in vastly distant lands at the same time. Further, it helps explain the height of the walls of both the Five Forts and the Wall. Having walls that high make no sense except for flying creatures.
Another question that is never discussed is why was the Amethyst Empress before her brother as heir to the throne. Before her all of the heirs are male. It is not like the line could not have mentioned a female heir like the Dornish do. I have a feeling that the story of the Bloodstone Emperor is a case of the winner writing the story.

Here's some super insane, top tier Valyrian tinfoil: if Leyton Hightower is like Saruman, I could see Euron being like Sauron. He's a bit more on the chaos side than the Dark Lord, but Sauron was totally into at least portraying himself and his master Morgoth as gods, just like Euron wants to become. Sauron was a powerful magic user, like Euron is at least trying to be. Sauron also was extremely charismatic, capable of taking the most beautiful of forms before the destruction of Numenor, just like Euron has maxed out charisma. What if, when Euron comes to Oldtown he's juiced up on the blood magic ritual we all know he's going to try and Leyton, a known magic enthusiast, is super impressed by/terrified of Euron. There could be a pseudo-alliance between the Hightowers and Euron like Saruman had with Sauron in a desperate attemtp to not be trodden underfoot.

im watching this for the second time and im thinking, towers in myth represent the summer solstice, so by taking the tower euron is setting in motion the events that lead to winter. when combined with the possible grey scale epidemic we could see a future where westeros is metaphorically plunged into autumn with disease wide spread only to be met by a physical incarnation of absolute death without the strength to resist it by force. additionally malora hightower could be euron's last victim like Danae and Ethniu she's a virgin in a tower and within the story we have lyanna who dies in childbirth atop a tower. effectively we could be seeing the turning point where euron preforms magic so inhumane that it transforms him permanently. of course the easiest way to find out if this is the truth is to analyze the tower of joy. the tower of joy being a metaphor for the mithraic summer sacrifice or "tauroctony" had several characters associated with tauroctony a bull, a serpent(dayne), a dog (direwolf), a raven(bat of whent). this, if true, would imply modern analogs in the high tower. We have sam tarly(tarv being irish for bull), Sarella as the serpent, now all we need is a dog and a raven.

If we are to believe that he's doing as the high priest asked and is helping Dany, then why would he let Euron get control of one of Dany's dragons? Some time after that event, at the Shields, when Euron repeated his plan from kingsmoot to go Essos and get some dragons, Ironborn were much less cooperative and openly opposed it. This is kind of off topic, but I have a theory that I'm hoping you'll discuss when you get around to making a video about the Others. My theory is that the Others are not a threat, or at least not yet. Remember, in the prologue they only went after Waymar Royce, and only because they thought he was a Stark. In Storm they attack the Night's Watch, likely because they pose a threat. However, for the most part they seem to be leaving people alone. They could have easily wiped out the Wildlings long before they're allowed to pass the Wall. And, why are they taking so long to attack the Wall? I'm guessing that Euron is somehow going to become their leader and that's when they become a threat.

The fact that only 14 of his children are noted in legends to have founded some of the most magical houses in Westeros, all of which appear to have some form of magical ability or superhuman strength or intelligence, makes me think that these children weren’t fathered on mere mortal women but that they may have been mothered by a race or several races of magical women. Perhaps children of the forest (most of Garth’s daughters are noted to be foxlike, have magical tree powers, be able to talk to insects or be skin changers) or perhaps some forgotten elvenish race? They definitely seem more god-like than his other children
