Late to the party but I got a little addition: Harren the Black famously worked thousands of "captives" to death over the course of 40 years to build Harrenhal. Harrenhal was absolutely a symbol of enslavement in Westeros that Aegon burned to the ground to kick off his whole unification campaign.

How come everyone is so quick to forget how terrible and tyrannical the ironborn were before the Targaryens came in ? They pretty much ruled the 7 kingdoms and subjected it to constant raiding and savagery. The targaryens were ruthless but there was a semblence of stability and prosperity under them. It was a big improvement for everybody who suffered under the Ironborn!

TheJaviferrol , thats the great aspect of the books, clean slate , show had diverged so far from them anyway for numerous seasons. Even as a book fan first I was fairly down about the show's conclusion at the time , not going to lie about that even if i had long considered them very separate entities. The books though so much to look forward to with well developed plot , characters / arcs which will actually make sense and expand upon the foundations that have already been laid. Even reading the sample chapters gets me so excited remembering just how objectively good GRRM is as a writer. Can not wait for TWoW.

Oh guys! Thanks for pumping our love of ASOIAF back up! GOT took a really big chunk of my fan soul, but you are just mending it all. Damn, I need my books. I need a re-read, ASAP
YES YES so much YES 🙌 I was starting to think that I was the only one who could see the story building up to a good old fashioned Volantene barbecue. Thank you for doing this video!
OMG, this makes me so hyped for Winds of Winter. I hope Daenerys takes Volantis in her conquest because like Harrenhal was the key to the Riverlands, Volantis is the key to the Free Cities and maybe even the entirety of Essos (minus the Dothraki obvi).
It's ironic that dragonlords founded Volantis and enslaved a continent but now the last of them is the Breaker of chains. By the way, is it posible that Volantis' soldiers of Yunkai's aliance coul betray them in The Battle of Meereen?
The Targaryens caused The Doom! They were always against slavery. Yes, it is said they brought their slaves with them to Dragonstone when they fled. However, its my belief that they were freed and then pledged their alegance to the Targaryens and went with them willingly. Exactly the same tactic Dany uses. Frees the slaves and let's them decide. I believe this because slavery on Dragonstone itself is NEVER spoken of in the story. Love this vid series!
@@TheeAmethystEmpress6589 The doom was a volcanic eruption that shatered the magmatic chamber of the 14 flames dividing the peninsula in islands and making the water arround them boil... It was a natural phenomenom.
This is actually one the plotpoints Im most excited about!!! You can see from miles away. The moment Dany sets foot in Volantis, the city will never be the same.
When Quinn said "catalyst"in the video, for a second my mind heard "Catelyn"...and it got me thinking...do you think GRRM had this word in mind when he was naming the character Catelyn? I mean, her actions in AGOT really are one of the main catalysts that sets the story in motion...well, Jaime too for sure. eh, just a thought.
It's been a while since I read the books, but isn't a good chunk of Volantis's navy and army on the way to Slaver's Bay to fight Daenerys? Considering that Daenerys's most successful plans are her craziest ones, I could definitely see her opting to sack Volantis before freeing Meereen. I hope that when she returns to Meereen it will be to save the city in a dramatic fashion. Perhaps we could have a Ride of the Rohirim style charge. Of course sacking Volantis could have one very bad consequence. According to Tyrion there is a lot of very important dragon lore kept in the city. If Daenerys burns it, this information might be lost forever.
I think the burning of King’s Landing by Daenerys in Game of Thrones left me triggered. Now I hear about Dany burning something it just makes me wanna scream. Also fused stone is made by dragons probably right? So wouldn’t dragon fire be the only thing that melts it? Awesome video as always guys!
The end of the show had several problems, many have been pointed out often. One that I never saw been brought up is how feeble the constructions on King's Landing were. All those stone buildings just crumbled at the touch of fire. Not all buildings are akin to Harrenhall's walls, but seven hells...
The effect of dragon fire on Stone was very inconsistent on the show.just look at the ice dragon alone in the Long Night episode - in one part of the episode, The Dragon is obliterating the wolves of Winterfell with its fire. Later, John simply hides behind a wall to avoid
those stone buildings didnt just crumble they exploded like bombs lol. I knew that last season would be painful and I blame myself for even having watched the damn thing.
Excellent stuff as always LmL , of course the work demand would be so great but we could all get used to such frequent content from you. And the subject of this vid certainly another element of TWoW that I and many can not wait to see come to fruition in the text , with Dany dealing with Volantis. It will be a slight moral conundrum and the typical shades of gray with any character or event GRRM gives us but again we have to remember the constructs these characters are operating in , a violent , ruthless pseudo-medieval world. Of course there are levels even within those standards that like Maegor or Aegon IV , pretty much the whole DotD overall or more recent narrative occurrences some heinous stuff from Tywin's past , Ramsay / Roose , the Freys treachery which are just objectively bad and we can go on and on and name many many more occurrences past and present. And Aegon I himself many sort of hail as the noble unifier but when you look his selfish motivations and the "means" themselves like Harrenhal , Field of Fire and just putting the realm to the dragon of pledging loyalty or death. Parts of the fandom can not just whitewash Aegon I and blame Dany for in some cases doing violent ruthless things that in many cases are somewhat selfless and helping those of a much lower station than her , freeing so many slaves and toppling ruthless hierarchy / regimes etc. This is the universe these characters operate in , which in some cases ruthless violence needs to be done for the greater good ; the motives and ends are what can be judged and criticized. Although last time i checked no non-violent pacifist people or groups (if they even exist) are getting much done on Planetos anyway. So I do think Dany and some other characters as well do get unfair criticisms (not by Lml or Quinn but others in the fandom) , as we have to remember the world they operate in. That being said I do look forward to seeing how Volantis plays out , imo Volantis more than deserve it and like so many past events that GRRM gives us that will likely echo in the current narrative (too many to name here) , Aegon I / The Conquest and Harrenhal in particular here definitely somewhat adjacent to Dany / her arc albeit of a less selfish nature. I do expect a Harrenhal 2.0 behind Volantis' black walls - they are a nasty regime , the self indicated successor to Valyria with the accompanied cruelty and negative practices , they are arguably the biggest players in the slave trade and one of the most stark examples of the dichotomy and literal insular separation between rich and poor that we are given within Planetos. Ntm , on top being just a horrible regime / ruling class (the Volantene hierarchy) taking up arms against Dany will justify her even further and as was pointed out in the vid , the message it will send will with a partial destruction will likely pacify the rest of Essos' resistance against her , so it could be argued would minimize bloodshed if most of the area fall in line from doing so rather than Dany having to continue to deal with each area one by one. And strategically its fairly west which works toward her end goals , the general supply re-up , the numbers to grow in terms of allies , potentially to her army and followers overall and quite the jewel to have under one's control makes sense all around for Dany. Of course some will have some moral questions and try and point to this as one of those "mad Dany in the making occurrences" but I do not see it that way at all. Given the constructs / medieval-esque universe these characters operate in , who / what Volatnis is and represents , likely a retaliatory move and the motives / reasons behind doing it - for me have her in the clear and on the side of right.
I think the messy part of this could involve the R'hllorists. They are ripe for getting out of control... good comments AlexB! Glad you're digging the series... I really can't unsee Volantis as a new Harrenhal :)
@@DavidLightbringer that could get messy and definitely some further fanaticism and associated actions can be unleashed. But the city itself is already is a boiling cauldron / powder keg ready to blow anyway ; as is normally the case with such oppression , class distinction , and supremacy from the top . Dany would just be the spark that really sets is off but in her perspective to see such cruelty, oppression and class division in the current setup there , I think she will see her actions justified to break that wheel. And as always the reader will have to discern through the typical shades of gray GRRM gives us with every character and event ; that is one of the best and most interesting parts of ASoIaF. Yes there could be some collateral damage or fallout both foreseen and unforeseen but given the structure of Volantis, the cruelty of the hierarchy there , likely a retaliatory move and seeing what disrupting the status quo would do in that city and potentially benefit not just her but the masses there and Essos overall I would think she would see little other choice and it worth the risk. And given that thus far her motivations have been rather good and most of her ruthless violence has a degree of justification and rationalization behind it and seems to be for their greater good ; I think the pro-Dany contingent has to trust her motivations and actions. Although as the narrative advances in typical GRRM fashion we will get more blurred lines and moral ambiguity even from Dany , especially given the many tough choices she will have to make , which will likely go to another level when she reaches Westeros.
Daenerys would conquer all of Dothraki, lift the siege in Meereen, burn Volantis then journey *east* beyond Assai to cross *The Land of Forever Winter* and then reach westeros. "_To journey west you must go east_"???
This might have been George's original plan, but he's said something about not having Dany go to Asshai... I suspect hell replace an actual visit with glass candle visions of Asshai
Also GRRM doesn't care about pronunciations. Roy Dotrice [RIP] always changed the way he pronounced different names in the books. Aaaaaaaand I think that maybe the Dark eye is a reference to Saurons All seeing Eye
Honestly, Harrinhall was absolutely justified. Black Harrin was a ruthless monster who nearly wiped out the minerals, lumber, and people of the Riverlands just to build his castle.
I know this isn't directly related to the topic at hand, but speaking of Dany and speaking of Harrenhal... At times I've wondered if her 'mount to dread' refers to her going to the tower of dread at Harrenhal. It's probably something else, but I still wonder. Awesome video; love this series🙂.
I had that thought too. It depends on how you read the prophecy I suppose. As to my comment above, I thought the destination was the thing to dread, not the mount itself.
Joshua Hoffman you know what! that makes sense. I always though it was referring to Enron, but I couldn’t figure out why Dany would ever fall for him. I could totally see drogon doing something that maybe dany grows to regret.
Fausto I’ve thought of euron too. As a mount to dread I mean. Not impossible. Cuz mount makes you think more of a dragon and these prophecies are meant as word puzzles. It could possibly refer to something not a dragon or lover EDIT: it may not refer to her dreading something. I think it’s “one to dread and one for love” etc. Not really clear on who’s feeling the emotion in question. Dang herself is the obvious guess but it doesn’t have to be
Thankyou LmL and Quinn for these great videos. When I read or watch discussions about what to expect in the last two novels of GRRMs great story, I just cant understand how it is possible to wrap the story up in a satisfying way in just two novels......He will need to write 5 more novels to get the majority of the characters and threads to a satisfying conclusion.
Agreed. If not, the two final books will be really close to 2,000 pages each. If there is a mid story twist in bith, then that is where the books can be divided. Smaller and leave people wanting more, plus GRRM could release them more quickly.
I hated how the show portrayed Dany & especially how Jon snow was supposedly named Aegon. Rheagars first 2 children were still alive when he ran off with the Stark girl so why in the fuck would he name both his sons Aegon? Just plain fucking stupid on the shows part! Going back the Dany she only killed ppl for a reason, she was never a sadistic murderer
The hint of what the Dragon riders will be like are in Rhaegal and Viserion names. Rhaegar Targreyan was an honorable man so the Dragon he is named after will have rider of that quality. Viserys was a viscous man cruel and arrogant and what we seen of Tyrion can be said the same. So if Viserion might be dragon of great cunning and cruelty this makes Tyrion ideal rider for him.
@@manofhonor1685 I didn't say he was smart I said he wasn't loyal. Even stupid man can betray someone so probably someone in his crew is watching him. Victorian probably get control of the dragon and used it seize control of the Pyke and Ironborn. Dany will go along with him in protection of her children. We still don't know how long the horn's effects last on a Dragon. I think Euron knows because he would give a weapon like to his brothers to be his undoing. Euron Greyjoy is crazy but not stupid.

As I was just pantomiming the Benerro passage myself, I realized he'd be using both hands to do this, since he spread his *hands* wide. Meaning one hand would be pointing up and one hand would be a fist. Which looks like the number 10. Then opening up all his fingers is also the number 10. Then each fingers has flames shooting from it and tyrion notes that there were 10 glyphs, which seems pretty specific to be unrelated. I don't know what it would mean tho lol. But thought those smarter than me would understand the connection.
Through a revisit to asos , i noticed the Heir of House Sunglass fled Stannis’s Fires to Volantis , would be Ironic if he’s caught inside the Walls when danny comes.
@@uggali I find it quite likely that George and D&D wrote the scripts ( at least an outline ) for season 6,7,8 together when they met at Martin's house. So when everybody calls D&D bad writers that would also apply to George himself then. Apart from that, you can question George for a lot of things, at least I would.
I love that Daenerys is essentially following in the footsteps of Old Valyria, destroying the descendants of the slave empire of Ghis. But instead of erecting an even more powerful and monstrous empire in its place she's forging a new path, a new future for humanity and what it means to he a ruler, a Targaryen. This rupture with the corrupt and horrific legacy of her people will be punishing the Oldest Daughter, the heir, so to speak, of the Valyrian Freehold-Volantis
Seeing you two together in all these videos is giving me a tingly feeling inside. The things that I'm imagining you guys doing right now... 🤤 I'll just stop.
I'm loving the team up between you two and I appreciate that each video is pretty tight and focused. I wouldn't mind some future live streams to expand on some of these plot points between you guys, the audience, Order of the Greenhand, and Mike S. Miller.
On Tyrion's trepidation about Benerro rallying the Volantene slaves with his oratory, I would say that while Tyrion might have a point about how the power and influence of the R'hllorists could prove to be dangerous and unpredictable, we should also take into account Tyrion's class prejudice because he is after all an aristocrat, and to an aristocrat there are few things more frightening than the downtrodden masses adopting a rebellious spirit and potentially taking matters into their own hands. His experience with the King's Landing riot also naturally feeds into this. But the point of view of the masses themselves should not be forgotten either. Benerro's oratory works because he speaks to the genuine concerns of the people, and in fact the temple is the ONLY place where the views of the slaves and the poor can potentially be expressed, because they have no other outlets. Historically in the real world, class struggle was often expressed in religious forms, because ideology was largely represented in the form of religious doctrine and the church was often the only place where a poor man could rise high and express his grievances with the rich and powerful, and advocate for social justice. So in the Middle Ages you'd have religious movements pop up now and again calling for a return to the egalitarian principles of Jesus, and this wasn't mere abstract theology but a concrete demand of the poor in a social system in which they were largely left out and could only express their class interests religiously. As for the King's Landing riot, of course that was an expression of the common people's grievances with Joffrey's horrendous rule. While it's true that the masses can be manipulated by demagogues, the agency of the masses themselves also shouldn't be ignored.
I wonder if it will be The Widow or Benerro who ends up in power? Maybe Dany chooses one to represent Volantis on her Essos council with the Dosh Khaleen back in Meereen
What do you think will happen with the cities between Meereen and Volantis? (Mantarys, Tolos) Will they surrender after the Battle of Fire? Seems like at least part of Dany’s army will need to march over land
I wonder though... they'll have the Ironborn ships, and then someone else mentioned that the Volantene fleet is rowed by slaves, and may revolt in Meereen... which I think is an awesome idea!
tony3483 is whatever the case at the end of it all Daenerys’s’ army will grow to become masssive I see at least 200thousand soldiers in her army( bolstered by all the cities of Essos after yeilding to dany when she burned volantis) to fight the equally massive undead army .
@@thetalesofelbek7042 Qartheen or braavosi fleet. Both have at least a thousand ships each. Iron born, ghiscari, Volanatene, lys, tyrosh etc can easily take her army.
Well Volant is divided part of the people worship Danny and the largest point of their military are slave soldiers those that worship the Lord of Light. It is a mistake to believe that all Volunteens are the same. If ASOIAF has taught us anything it's that there are Always factions and rivalries in every city region and organization. From the Nights watch to the Lords of the North to the several Factions of the City of Mereen.
Would some of the Old Blood maybe recognize Daenerys as the heir of old Valyria because she is the last Dragon Lord? And if so could she have possible allies within the black walls?
15:56 If you examine closely ,a potential foreshadowing can be seen as: 1)minions of night (faceless men) (since assassinations are considered a nights work) 2)temples of deceit (their temples) (as they literally teach how to lie) 3)her downfall(death of her dragons) # Won't this confirm the theory that faceless men are trying to kill the dragons.
There are a number of features to note re: Daenerys & the Volantis situation. Khal Pono is riding on the outskirts of Volantis, which basically means he will almost certainly be called in by the Triarchs to help put down the slave revolt for a huge reward, as the Volantenes have sent forces to Mereen to assist the Yunkai'i in the battle against Dany. Dany, as we know, is with Khal Jhaqo, & we don't know how that is likely to play out. One way or another, Dany is going to get control of Jhaqo's khalasar, & then she will be motivated to face off with the other half of what was Khal Drogo's khalasar when she receives word that there is a slave revolt in Volantis. That message may well reach her by way of Marwin, he will reach Dany with the assistance of Qaithe: remember, Marwin is not someone that Dany has been warned not to trust. I said in a previous comment that Dany is not returning to Mereen, (I could be wrong of course, but logically, there will be neither time, neither is there a need story wise), Mereen, I am sure, will be destroyed when the dragons are attacked by the Harpy's Sons inside the city & the Yunkai'i & their allies out side of the city. Mereen will be burned to the ground, which will prompt Dany's allies to march on Yunkai. The slave revolt will begin when they have world that the Voltene forces are engaged trying to protect Slavers Bay from falling completely to Dany's forces, leaving Volantis vulnerable & the slaves in a prime position to overthrow the triarchs - enter Khal Pono. Tyrion's dream when he is travelling with Illyrio from Pentos to meet the Griffs, is really really important. This dream tells us a number of things, one that Tyrion is going to get the 2 dragons to Westeros, two that Barristan will be with him, three that Aegon/Young Griff is a direct descendent of both Daemon Blackfyre & Aegor Rivers - most likely via Daemon's daughter who married Rivers - as he is referred to as "Bittersteel". And the big question, what will drive Tyrion to return to Westeros without Dany? Hard to say, but it may be that Illyrio will inform him that he is the bastard son of Mad Aerys. I am not sure about that, but I think there is a good chance, which is what may drive Tyrion to commit himself to Aegon, as we are told they will be fighting side by side with dragons overhead. The story is going to become even more complicated, part of the whole point of the "Mummers dragon" fAegon, is for it to be almost impossible for Jon Snow to be accepted as Rhaegar's true born son, except for Dany's endorsement - the blow flower in a chink of ice spreading sweetness, meaning she is going to love Jon Snow. And as such she is going to be in conflict with fAegon & Tyrion, hence why Qaithe warned Dany not to trust the Lion, because he is not going to be loyal to her.
tyrion is no bastard. jamie and cersei are aerys bastards. NOT TYRION. and dont come with tyrions "dragon" dreams. dany has dragon dreams. tyrion not. cersei had a prophetic dream that came that came true. tyrions not.
Something that's interesting to me is the line "Rhllor who made the sun and stars" seems to harken back to how Dany refers to Drogo as her sun and stars and links her directly to using the followers of Rhllor or joining them and perhaps how her relationship with them will change her power dynamic
This is the plot line I'm most excited for, besides Cersei burning King's Landing (or the Sept, but I want it to be the whole city just so she goes out with a bang)
I think that the horrendous portrayal of Daenerys in season 8 has now made me realise just how incredible book Dany is.

They pretty much ruled the 7 kingdoms and subjected it to constant raiding and savagery. The targaryens were ruthless but there was a semblence of stability and prosperity under them. It was a big improvement for everybody who suffered under the Ironborn!

Now i can finally pretend that Daenerys burning KL is really just book Daenerys burning the living shit out of Volantis :)
The TV show has tainted me to me point where i hear an Azor Ahai prophecy and i just automatically visualise Masie Williams jumping from Hit's dimension to stab the Night King
I do my best to forget Season 8.

Can not wait for TWoW.
dumb and dumber never cared for the story. they wanted only present us the genius orchestrated red wedding. and no, i doesn't shed tears for catelyn and robb.
That’s interesting that Tyrion would recognize that using faith is too dangerous a tool to use and Circe did not. Circe tried it and it blew up in her face.
And of course Tyrion does it in the show

Oh guys! Thanks for pumping our love of ASOIAF back up! GOT took a really big chunk of my fan soul, but you are just mending it all. Damn, I need my books. I need a re-read, ASAP
YES YES so much YES 🙌
I was starting to think that I was the only one who could see the story building up to a good old fashioned Volantene barbecue. Thank you for doing this video!
we gotcha
OMG, this makes me so hyped for Winds of Winter. I hope Daenerys takes Volantis in her conquest because like Harrenhal was the key to the Riverlands, Volantis is the key to the Free Cities and maybe even the entirety of Essos (minus the Dothraki obvi).
The volantii accusing Daenerys of doing the type of things they themselves are all probably doing 😝
It's ironic that dragonlords founded Volantis and enslaved a continent but now the last of them is the Breaker of chains.
By the way, is it posible that Volantis' soldiers of Yunkai's aliance coul betray them in The Battle of Meereen?
Yes! Someone else suggested this and I'm ashamed I didn't mention it. The Volantene fleet is rowed by slaves.
@@DavidLightbringer It's OK don't worry
The Targaryens caused The Doom! They were always against slavery. Yes, it is said they brought their slaves with them to Dragonstone when they fled. However, its my belief that they were freed and then pledged their alegance to the Targaryens and went with them willingly. Exactly the same tactic Dany uses. Frees the slaves and let's them decide. I believe this because slavery on Dragonstone itself is NEVER spoken of in the story. Love this vid series!

I wonder if the slaves and Rholl'r worshippers will take it out beforehand so they can give it to her as a gesture of good faith
@@samiai8905That's our only hope, because that would be too much important information lost
This playlist is TRULY awe-inspiring
I think the burning of King’s Landing by Daenerys in Game of Thrones left me triggered. Now I hear about Dany burning something it just makes me wanna scream. Also fused stone is made by dragons probably right? So wouldn’t dragon fire be the only thing that melts it? Awesome video as always guys!
Me too, Daenerys is queen.
Quinn Ice LML fire. The best team up ever
Thomas Bowe ikr it’s as if Drogon devour ten pounds of uranium to make his fire more powerful and last longer.
I believe this will be the case for Daenerys for awhile.
This editing is so good, the music stopped right before "The Old Blood cannot suffer that" AAAHHHhhh
Harren also enslaved people of the river lands to build his castle. So even more of a parallel
Also GRRM doesn't care about pronunciations. Roy Dotrice [RIP] always changed the way he pronounced different names in the books.
Aaaaaaaand I think that maybe the Dark eye is a reference to Saurons All seeing Eye

I always thought that was Drogon. Like balerion the dread returned type of thing
Ashley of Naath the “fires” she lights might be destinations also.

I hope Eurom gets Viserion. I want some dragon on dragon action.

I take issue with anybody who thinks that the creator of a story has a responsibility to live up to fan expectations.
Great series!
These videos are the next best thing to tWoW coming out. Thank you! 👍❤️🌳❤️👍

To reach Westeros, she needs to go to Lys and Tyrosh too. Both of them are slave cities as well, so maybe she´s going to conquer them too.
If Dany roasts the slavers behind the Black Wall, then I doubt Lys and Tyrosh will dare to risk Dany's wrath.
Would some of the Old Blood maybe recognize Daenerys as the heir of old Valyria because she is the last Dragon Lord? And if so could she have possible allies within the black walls?
These recent videos are EXCELLENT.

If you examine closely ,a potential foreshadowing can be seen as:
1)minions of night (faceless men) (since assassinations are considered a nights work)
2)temples of deceit (their temples)

3)her downfall(death of her dragons)
# Won't this confirm the theory that faceless men are trying to kill the dragons.
Seems like it, but why would they? She’s doing everything they stand for. They are against slavery and she is actively trying end it...

"This is a city burning we can actually cheer for"..
NOT TYRION. and dont come with tyrions "dragon" dreams. dany has dragon dreams. tyrion not. cersei had a prophetic dream that came that came true. tyrions not.
and the blue flower is a warning for dany. the danger that come from jon snow. sweet scents are reverved to death, and corruption.
Sometimes I wonder if Dany will ever make it to Westeros or if she will unite Essos instead and remake a Valyria.
woah that’s actually highly intelligent
*FIRE AND BLOOD FOREVER AND ALWAYS!*
Yes, the edit: “Sun and Stars”
“My Sun and Stars”, “Moon of my life” - look at that little call back clue. 😏
Isn’t the “dark eye” upon Dany talking about Euron Crow’s Eye?
Something that's interesting to me is the line "Rhllor who made the sun and stars" seems to harken back to how Dany refers to Drogo as her sun and stars and links her directly to using the followers of Rhllor or joining them and perhaps how her relationship with them will change her power dynamic
and rhaegar has a strange connection to a sword from legend: dawn = ice from old.
This is the plot line I'm most excited for, besides Cersei burning King's Landing (or the Sept, but I want it to be the whole city just so she goes out with a bang)
For some reason when I try to picture what a person who lives behind the Black Walls of Volantis looks like I see Robert E. Lee.
Naw that’s not wrong
It feels to me like a giant blood ritual. The Old Blood of Volantis being burned alive by dragonfire inside their black walls.
