I most definitely agree with you when it comes to posting all your marital business on social media. Definitely there are some people with evil intentions who just want to cause harm.
As a Nigerian Christian, I always say I'm not superstitious but the Devil is real and I don't need to be doing anything extra to tempt him sha. It's not me that has the will of Job ooo
I was told growing up "don't let anyone sweep over your foot or you won't get married"... I joked about it, it's obviously nonsense. I don't believe it's why I'm not married at 35 😕
I'm Haitian-American and I've also heard that! Another one I've heard is something about walking over someone's feet but Idk what's the reason not to do so
This definitely just took me back!! I left Zimbabwe in 2008 and we couldn’t even pack a big suitcase because we didn’t want anyone to know we were leaving. +1 the whistling in the dark. +1 on the pregnancy thing. For us I think the baby is not even supposed to be outside for a few months after they’re born so as not to fall prey to evil spirits since they’re still full of innocence. I remember a few of my aunties stayed home for the longest after giving birth
@Cryonic7740 In my culture you don't bring the baby out until they get their initial vaccines. It's mostly for health reasons.... but some people don't bring them out or will hide their face with emojis if posting a picture until they are christened or dedicated to God.
when it comes to the food thing, my parents have told me about people in their communities growing up who got initiated into witchcraft through food so that's they were weary.
lol, sorry (not sorry) but how is religion not _also_ a superstition? (your voice is so amazing, i love how you effortlessly switch from american accent to african/etc. 🤣👍)
Thank you! I can’t speak for other religions but when it comes to the Christian faith, the resurrection of Christ is a historical event. Plus I’ve personally seen God’s word come to pass in my life. Biblical prophecies are also being fulfilled in today’s day and age.
lol@douglas. You're looking for trouble, O!!! They're ready to deconstruct superstition, which has been grounded into their heritage, but not Christianity that was introduced through colonialism.
@@BeverlyAdaeze all i see is the real world, and i've never seen anything that didn't have naturalistic explanations. also, i was raised as a christian, and believed that stuff until i was in my teens. anyhow, just thought it was incongruous...cheers!
@douglasharley2440 depends on what you define as 'naturalistic explanation' - as Christians we hold reverence to everything in nature and how it came into being. What you call nature or natural is a miracle to us.

Exactly!
I'm glad you shared this! I'm a Haitian-American believer and this conversation was something I really started to wrestle with when I went to college.
I agree! The eating at people's houses is a big one my mom told me ooo chai. Yes use wisdom and faith in God!

Oh absolutely. He is very real. There’s just a difference between being on guard and being fearful. He has no real power

Great content as always! I absolutely love your content. Deep discussions and great banter.
Same! Love her content too
Thanks so much
14:32 not the jubilating dance 😂😂😂
I had to come and comment again. I remember that flight number skit you did. I didn't expect that plot twist at the end girl 😂😂

lol yeah the “accountability” part
when it comes to the food thing, my parents have told me about people in their communities growing up who got initiated into witchcraft through food so that's they were weary.
😂😂 yes those couples must tell us. All that "pls respect our privacy" thing goes out the window when we've been a part of your marriage since day 1.😂
My Panamanian neighbors used to make us walk into the house backwards if we came in after midnight. I have no idea why we did that.
Are you serious? Wow 😂
@ 😂😂😂
Why do I know the Nigerian couple you’re talking about??!! 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Lol who is it please ? 👀
3:10 it’s crazy coz growing up we were told that whistling in the house attracts witches (I’m South African, Pedi tribe)
Seriously!
We only recognize the power of God ❤ anything else can never be as powerful as our God
😂😂😂 Different concept, same boat!
Korra Obidi, a full blown Nigerian gave birth to her second daughter live in Fb!😂 This whole superstition thing is just subjective in my opinion lol….
Oh wow!

@annavalliara2034 there ain't no such thing as miracles.
