Easy Stylized Grass In Blender For Eevee AND Cycles!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 вер 2022
- Hey there! I've been working hard on getting a super good realistic stylized grass particle system and material (if that makes any sense). To make that a little clearer, I want it to look like grass you would see in Dreamworks or Pixar animations and not like in cartoons. Use it to make something awesome!

If you can't find velocity- click advanced- but who am I kidding, if it's not an ego massage, youtube moves the comment to the bottom- which I'm sure is OH SO HELPFUL for tutorial makers who now don't know when there are issues.
I think I did mention advanced but I might have gone a little fast/didn't explain why I did it. I'll keep that in mind for future tutorials. Thanks for the feedback!
The best and complete grass tutorial. Maybe a little bit fast but it's not so important. Thanks so much Nick
What a legend. I swear, I went through multiple videos trying to get my project to look just right, this one was by far the best. It helped a lot and I greatly appreciate it bro, hopefully you keep making more videos because you're pretty good at it. Thanks for the help!
No problem, that was my hope! I go on summer break in about a month and I 100% plan on doing (hopefully tons) of blender tutorials.
Amazing tutorial, it really helped me with environment problems since my plugin that scatters grass broke and also i think that your channel has a lot of potential and i hope it will grow since you have amazing quality. keep it up👍
That's actually so great to hear! I have some big plans for tutorials I want to hit as soon as I get the time, so I'm happy you'll be along for the ride!
This is a great tutorial. Fancy tackling this in the 4.0 update ?
dont worry bro your channel is top quality you're bound to get some fame one day its gonna be all crazy and stuff
Love the optimism! That'd be one wild ride!
thanks for the video
świetna trawa :)
Bro i love your channel and i just discovered it, i was so shocked after i watched this whole video to see how low your subscriber count is but good work
Thank you so much! It's honestly people like you that make me want to give back to the blender community.
@@nickwierzbowski If you don't mind explaining what was your learning process? Cause you seem to be pretty good and I want to level up my skills as well
Honestly, it depends what exactly you're trying to learn and where you are right now. At a base level there's the technical aspect of everything in Blender. For that I spent a ridiculous amount of time on UA-cam watching everything I could find. By that I mean not just big ideas but all the random stuff too for all the little tips and tricks that come with experience. Then a couple months ago I realized that I'd probably watched 80-90% of everything worthwhile in terms of tutorials. So then it's on to experimentation! Like for this video I spent about a week trying to get a really good looking grass and finally ended up settling on this (Project driven learning is king!). Other things you could do are looking, and I mean really looking at animated (or otherwise, depending on your interests) films. Look at the details, see where they made mistakes (because they do) or just ran out of time. Also, real life reference! It's all about observation and asking questions (just like you're doing, so good work!) never be done learning, and remember that the next thing you do will always be better. That was a bit of a long answer, but there's a lot to talk about and I love talking about it! Hope this helps, and I'm always happy to answer questions or take suggestions!
@@nickwierzbowski lol although a "long" response that was actually very helpful and you saying you prepped a week in advanced was some well needed motivation that sometimes you just gotta repeat it till I get my results, thank you 🥲
I will be able to pursue my dreams of being a professional blender grass blade.
Got the grass I wanted but I was really hoping you'd show us how to animate it too. I need a looping animation >.
"I'm not good with meters", YOU HAVE A COMPUTER, MY GUY.
This tutorial is very helpful, especially for figuring out how to display the blade particles as actual objects instead of vector splines! Unfortunately though, I'm using 3.5, and in this version when I render a frame in Cycles, my grass blades are the same thickness from the root to the tip, and I have the root set to 4.8m with the tip set to .01m. Does anyone know how to fix/get around this? Thanks!
Is there a Blender file we can download with this grass by any chance?
Can you tell me how you mixed those two color ramps? I'm new to blender
Sure! If you have the node wrangler addon enabled, which you've probably seen in a bunch of tutorials if you're just starting out, you can hold control and shift while doing the click and drag between the two color ramps. That being said you could just add in a mix node and change it from float to color and do it manually. I wish you luck on your Blender journey!
Is there anyway to remove grass from specific section of the plane? I have a scene with smalls rocks and platforms. Currently the grass is going through them.
There is! If you do a search for density there should be a field that takes a thing called a vertex group. You can make one of these and not put any weight on the areas where you don't want grass or less weight in the areas where you want less grass. If that doesn't quite make sense there's tons of tutorials on it.
@@nickwierzbowski Thank you very much
what version your blender is? theres no principled hair bsdf in my version 3.3 sad
This was 3.2. It should still be there in 3.3 though! One thing to check would be what renderer you're using. If it's not set to cycles the node won't show up.
how do i fill the circle
The Z does not make it retain its height anymore
Velocity don't work
