I think Eamon De Valera and Fianna Fail turned their back on the six Counties once they assumed power in 1932, despite having fought against the Treaty less than 10 years previously.
Such an amazing Tribute to brave men who were willing to give their lives for the future of others. Christy does an amazing verssion of this song that will echo through history hopefully for many years to come. Thanks for uploading
This song is more about the Civil War than the War of Independence. In actual fact the pro Treaty Free Staters are portrayed and named as the real enemy of the Galtee Mountain Boy and his rebel cohorts.
When I listen to he Galtee Mountain Boy, it touches my heart and I get the feeling that I was one of the Freedom fighters for Ireland during World War I.
Don't talk with me like that! Ireland Scotland Wales and England are brothers. out of Britain empire politics... your opinion isn't mine. You get that partitioned Eire out of you if you want.
@@user-ys5yv2nz6w if I didn't mentioned North it's because Northern Ireland is a country who belong to Ireland and don't belond to England and Britain rules. But ! Ireland & Northern-Ireland Scotland Wales & England are brothers Odd.
@@Dark-Valley You're definitely not from Britain or Ireland so I understand you struggling with this. Your map in your profile picture has Ireland partitioned into Ireland and Northern Ireland, but as you say, the north belongs to Ireland, people usually just have a map of all of Ireland as one country
Maybe Cristy could pen an emotional stirring song for the unwanted Irish child in it's mother's womb begging to be allowed to live. Oh ya I forgot he supported their executions.
If it were just that simple it would be great. But there are a lot of mixed emotions generated by all that transpired back then. Mick was put in a tight spot by the British and without any consultation signed the deal. No doubt they didn't have the resources to continue the fight and it was as good as he could get. But he never asked for leave to consult others. Then former allies and comrades in arms were at each other's throats. Much to the delight of the British no doubt who supplied the Free Staters with heavy guns and equipment plus military advisors etc. I myself could not turn and start slaughtering my fellow countrymen at the behest of the British. I would have had to sit it out. The signing of the treaty was one thing but committing a lob-sided slaughter of your own people that is well beyond the Pale and no doubt cost Collins his life.
Out of tune? Give your head a wobble. Only the Wolfe Tones could ruin it by turning it into an old time waltz. It's a serious song, not one for a dance hall.
Amazing song about the most tenacious rebels Dan breen Sean Hogan and Sean Tracy great men and no better Irishmen than them bhoys
Don't Forget Sean Moylan. We could learn a thing or two from them.
To all those Men and Women who gave their lives in the fight of Irish Freedom. THANK YOU ALL
Gorgeous song. No matter what persuasion you are, it will bring a tear to any true Irish man ❤
My Grandfather was in the flying column. A corkman born and bred
To the Men who fought for a Free Éire...for us in the Six Counties
I think Eamon De Valera and Fianna Fail turned their back on the six Counties once they assumed power in 1932, despite having fought against the Treaty less than 10 years previously.

And those who are still flying the flag high🇮🇪💚🇮🇪

wtf are you on about world war 1 for lmao
Nothing to do with world war one. This song is about the Irish war of independence and the civil war that followed it.

A white man's blues... Anthony
Great song and singer. However the famous rebels v Mick Collins refused to accept the Dail Vote.
If it were just that simple it would be great. But there are a lot of mixed emotions generated by all that transpired back then. Mick was put in a tight spot by the British and without any consultation signed the deal. No doubt they didn't have the resources to continue the fight and it was as good as he could get. I should also add there are those who feel that the Dail vote went the way it did because British money was involved.

Brave song to sing in 1979 when Republicans were again being hunted and killed.
Christy always supported the northern struggle, if only more people down there did
Christy was never afraid to speak his mind, including the north,The Stardust and many other occasions. A national treasure!!!
Sorry lad it’s not it
