If you want for more long format, I would maybe get a used a7siii for video and then you’d also have a mechanical shutter for some photo. If it has to be between these two, I know long shooting inside could be fine to shoot up to 20-30 minutes in one go. I haven’t had my zve1 overheat on me so if you want better video specs then I’d go for that one!
@@jaymills1720 the a7siii has never overheated or been even close to overheat with me. You get all the 4k modes up to 120fps. You can take photos with it despite being 12mp it’s great. Zve1 does the same as the a7siii in everything but has no mechanical shutter so for photos it’s good but can have some drawbacks. That one could overheat after a while since the ergonomics vs the a7siii is more compact so can be not the best at dispersing the heat. The a7cii is more like the zve1 in the terms of overheating style, but you have some great video with 4k 24 being over sampled from 7.2k I believe so it’ll look sharper, drawback is the 4k 60 is crop and no 4k 120fps. But you can take great photos with the 33mp but not as clean in low light as the a7siii/zve1 but still very good!
How has your experience been with the overheating? I'm hearing conflicting reports across the board...half the folks are saying they got an overheat warning 15 minutes into setting up menus and others saying they've shot multiple hours of footage and havent had an issue
I haven’t had any issues honestly. I can feel it warm up if I do too much slow mo 120fps but other than that no issues for me. I live in Texas too where it gets hot so yea haha

But definitely love the custom LUT input so much. Helps me see as close to the final image in camera to create faster! As well as being able to create faster with crazy good video and stabilization when needed!

I have 2 A74 I use to cover events, but like you I had to get ZV-E1 for the features they were missing. Namely, the base ISO is 12,800(perfect for wedding receptions with f2.8 lenses) and for 4k60 no crop.
The video image is nearly 97% almost identical to the A7IV readout...but the ZV-E1 has a little better rolling shutter and doesnt crop on slow mo. I just wonder if its really worth the price....its hard for me to decide.
I would try to look for a used one like I did and then it’ll be worth it. I’m sure many will start selling theirs to either get the a7cii or something so use it for your gain haha

Nice video. I’ve had the ZV-E1 since it came out and I love it. I’ve shot plenty of photos on it and was surprised at how good it was. The video features were the main reasons that I got it but it is really a great hybrid, creator’s camera.

I wanted their quality, but at a lower price 😅. All my portrait work is done on various Sony, Nikon and Fujifilm cameras, but I think I’m going to try the ZV-E1 on a serious shoot and see how it goes 🤞🏼

I’ll definitely be using it still since I have to video long period for tennis stuff for my students and clients and also need multiple angles in one go to capture as fast and efficient in a more real setting. But definitely will help me with filming multiple angles mainly in a one shot style setting basically.
I was torn between these 2 also. I leaned towards the ZV-E1 because I’m mainly a videographer but I also liked the idea of the a7cii to have a good stills camera. At the end I went with the FX30 as a B cam since I heard Sony is releasing 2 new flagships in the near future.
@@EasyTigerCreative as a B cam, mainly on a tripod for an extra angle, it’s great. I don’t have to worry about overheating. But for family videos, personal projects and pics, I don’t use it. I use my A7SIII for everything else. However I love the new screen layout on these new Sony cameras, where you can see more of the screen. And display lut is awesome! Wish Sony would add that to the a7siii but we all know that answer 😂🙄

@@EasyTigerCreative Yes a little thicker for sure, but if you're doing a pro level shoot where you would require dual recording then a monitor is ideal anyway, you can just get a cage and mount it on if you want a minimal setup and the bit of added weight would make it more stable too, then again I've never had a card fail in the years I've been filming, knock knock.

Having the same dilemma, but this will be my first and only good camera. I'm primarily using this for product videos for my store, but also to be used for family videos at home and on vacation. I've watched this video a bunch of times and I'm still torn. I will primarily be shooting product showcase videos (sometimes on the fly) in less than favorable light as a novice to show off some of the products in the store and would like these videos to look as cinematic as possible (at least for a novice willing to put in some time to learn). At $2k I'd also like to use this for family vacation and home videos and photos, but do not want to significantly sacrifice the product showcase performance for this. I am weighing the added still photo qualities of the a7Cii (for family and product photos) vs the low light performance and video features of the ZV-E1. The low light performance is definitely a big concern, which is why I'm only considering full sensor cameras in the $2k range. Any regrets on the ZV-E1?

I honestly don’t shoot much with the evf haha mainly got used to it because of making UA-cam videos where I show my screen to show how I take the photo so got used to using the screen.
this video made my life more complicated lol. I have the a7iv but I want to switch to a more compact camera, and therefore I was about to buy the a7cii. If I'm being honest with myself, I mean I like to take photos but making cinematic videos attract me more, the a7cii video is great but let's be real, the footage that comes from the zve1 is deeper and looks better, so now my life is complicated.
Well would you keep your a7iv still if you got the zve1 or a7cii? If so then I’d go for the zve1 but if you’re planning to condense down then that makes it a little tougher haha

Not really. I’ve been using it as my A cam for my videos and b roll when I want to condense down and it’s been working great. The smaller size has helped me capture my UA-cam videos faster as well as bring a camera around more often to make sure I document my business for social media. Actually quite a good camera. Better than I thought to be honest. I actually thought it would’ve been a crap camera but surprisingly has worked wonderfully

I still feel like the safest bet for anybody to not have any worry or doubt would definitely still be the A7Siii even with the lack of firmware updates although a great case can be made for the ZV-E1 simply due to the price tag and the amazing features it offers for sure. Looks like plenty of creators out here apparently have sold them or FX3 models and are just banging shit out with the zv-e1 that in itself tells you everything.
@@frostgodxyea I mean I do advise people to get the a7siii used since you can find it for like $2,500 on average from what I saw and that way can have a great pro camera with dual sd and no overheating. The fx3 would be great but the pricing on that isn’t as friendly right now, even used haha but the zve1 can do great for the price honestly. Most UA-camrs that I’ve seen sell their fx3 for the zve1 was because they honestly weren’t using their fx3 in a way that would make sense. I mean they weren’t using it to create cinematic films, or heavier duty videoing so would make sense to get some money back by selling it and saving money with the zve1. I don’t plan to sell my a7siii since it’s perfect still for me but definitely love pairing it with my zve1 and a7iv to just have multiple cameras for video when I need to film all in one go for multiple angles for faster turn around.

A lot of people mention the dual card slot, but if you use a Ninja V like me I thought you can rec internal/external simultaneously

have you tried 16 mm f2.8 pancake apsc lens on Zve1
I haven’t but I have tested the 35mm 2.8 pancake full frame lens with it!
