How to Set-Up the Seat Belt on the Nautilus Glute Drive

  • The seat belt should cross your ASIS (Anterior Superior Iliac Spine) or in laymen terms (the bony prominences on the front side of your pelvis.) If the belt is too high it will depress your abdomen and limit diaphragmatic breathing. If the belt is too low it will uncomfortably push into your upper thigh at the bottom range of motion. When positioned properly, the belt should feel comfortable and provide for optimal performance while performing hip thrusts.

    As a skeleton, I'm very grateful that you demonstrated on a spine and set of hip bones where to set up the belt. This has been very helpful to me and all my skeleton friends that frequent the local gym. Maybe show external landmarks on a human body. Most people don't know what an ASIS is or how to locate it on their bodies.

    I did exactly as instructed, but when I do heavy 220 lbs, it leaves me bad bruises on right & left of pelvis bones at. Fyi, my weight is 145 lbs. So I have to put towel and my elbow pads right underneath the belt. Almost perfect glute drive machine.

      I put one of those TheraBand oval pads between my belly and the belt. Maybe that'll help too?

    I can’t do hip thrusts on here the belt rips into my hip bones 😭

      I put a pad between my belly and the belt. One of those oval ones (TheraBand) fits nicely.     Great concept, omg horrible execution. The belt digs into my hip bone, I am sore as fuck.

    The clip bit of the seatbelt just slides off when I try to use this machine, can’t figure out how to get it to stay its very frustrating

    Am I the only that feels this machine somehow works quads more than glutes? When I do hip thrusts with a barbell against a bench I get more glute targeting than this machine and I don’t understand why. No matter where the legs are positioned.

      Stretch your legs further out, you’ll feel it in your glutes

      Your feet are positioned wrong. Bring them closer to your body

      It definitely works the quads more. You can try to reposition your feet, but it won't make much difference.

      @@LisePlansandJournals further away is hamstring. Should be 90 degree for flutes, either way the mechanics of this machine with heavy weight forces me to favor quads. BB on the floor, same weight, all glutes. Maybe it’s just me that experiences this.

    I have a tiny waist and it doesn’t fit me on the tightest setting. This was not built for skinny legends

    It amazes me how Nautilaus can take a simple exercise and complicate the heck out of it. SMH. Sorry. Not a fan.
