@@mabelpup8502 I can't even believe I'm responding to such a ridiculous comment, but what if you have long legs? Do you want you knees to be jammed up against the dashboard just so you can reach the wheel? I certainly don't. The entire point of more adjustability is to be able to accommodate ALL body types in comfort, which isn't too much to ask in a vehicle that is this expensive.
Maybe. But that’s part of the reason the Frontier-was a bargain price wise. Let’s face it, at even money most would buy the Tacoma. But the Frontier was the better value, if not necessarily the better truck
They did well with the info screen size and hard buttons, props! Too many vehicles with obnoxious and distracting touch screens which end up being a safety issue on the road. Price tag on this is still too much, and boy did it look like it was going to roll over in that first turn. Ranger may not yet be updated as nicely but performance-wise I stick with it over this 100%
Ranger Tremor is still more expensive than this with less features and less power and less tow capability pound for pound. Turbo charged engines are way less reliable.
The Frontier platform didn’t run from 97 until 2021. They Frontier used a beefed up version of the previous Hardbody platform from 98 until 04, and got a new platform in 05 that the new Frontier that you’re reviewing is still riding on a (somewhat modified, but it’s the same platform) as the 05-21 frame. Also, not a CVT?! Who puts a CVT in a midsize or larger body on frame pickup?! Nobody. The only “pickup” that runs a CVT is the hybrid Maverick, which apparently is unavailable anyways, since Ford wants to be able to “advertise” a pickup under 20k but doesn’t actually want to have to build or sell it, as the AWD 2.0 Ecoboost variants are far more profitable.
I thinks it absolutely ridiculous that a 2022 truck doesn't have a telescopic steering wheel but I can over look it because it has a super low lease payment compared to a Tacoma.
@@gamatoutsikos The frontiers are pretty reliable. Did you see the guy with a million+ mile truck? I can’t say they’re all like that but I don’t think they’re any less reliable than the current gen Tacoma
I own a 2017 Ridgeline RTL-E and looking to switch some time soon. This looks really promising just wondering about the build quality, recalls, overall state that Nissan is in now... Scotty Kilmer says look elsewhere.
Do people really consider him as a credible source? He is in the clickbait business, nothing more nothing less. Please do your own research. You’ll find the Frontier has a pretty solid reliability record and the new one still uses the same underpinnings so it should remain about the same, but it is full of new tech so there’s that gamble that any new car faces. But moral of the story… Scotty doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I owned a 2012 Ridgeline and now a 20’ Titan pro 4X. If you like the interior space of the ridge move up to a half ton. No Mid size truck feels as spacious inside as the Ridgeline. 👍🏼
@@czar2321 you see that's the thing. I'm 6'4" and basically the Ridgeline was the only midsize truck I could fit in comfortably. Plus I love that back trunk space and don't know if I could live without it. So useful for everyday crap.
Idk about going straight off what he says, yes he knows a lot about cars but I wouldn’t say as much when it comes to overall brands… also the Nissan problems were linked to Nissan like 3 years ago and before… I think a lot of that has been fixed since all of the hate and backlash they have gotten
I trust Consumer Reports more than Kilmer & that’s saying a lot, because CR is trash. Ford & Ram are the truck experts, but if you want to go mid-size then I’d look at the Chevy/GMC in addition to the Ranger. Tacoma would be my last choice … horrible seats, underpowered, & dated interior.
Is jacob a watch guy? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him wear a seiko skx on many videos and in this one I see him wearing a date just watch not sure if Tudor,Rolex or any other brand with that specific style
when you say you would hands down take the Nissan 2022 Frontier over a Ford Ranger, can you elaborate as to why? Thanks. Also, for the Nissan transmissions, if people are looking for life time vehicles - does the Nissan transmission allow for those 200k, 300k limits like a Ford/Toyota truck would? Obviously a lot is dependent on owner maintenance, my question is more geared to quality of the manufacturer of Nissan transmissions inside the Frontier.
I can attest that the older 5 speed automatics were durable long term. As long as the radiator didn’t fail and make the transmission fluid a strawberry milkshake Cheers
With this new Frontier and 400ZX, Nissan is finally getting their mojo back and building something interesting & good. Now if Nissan would offer the Cummings 2.8 Turbo Diesel in the Frontier, I’d trade in my new Tacoma.
Besides the camera quality I found it odd they didn't make the rear sliding window a powered sliding option, at least on mid/high Frontier trim levels.
My Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is also manual, so not too odd. Would say it's because it's removable but it has a heated grid you need to disconnect before removing anyways.
I think it looks fantastic. But..... other reviewers have panned it for the lack of a front locking differential and it's non-aggressive/small tread-block tires; both non-qualifyers who really want to take this truck off road in places where the ZR2 or Toyota may go. But for the usual commute-to-work in all weather conditions and the jaunts on flat off road trails, this new Frontier will be fine.
Flat off-road only? I think you severely overestimate what is required to do most off-roading and wheeling. Sure, it can’t do everything that ZR2 and TRD PRO will do, but it will do 90% of it.
@@michaelnotigan7796 you do realize Nissan was using the “PRO” monicker before Toyota, right? 2-speed transfer case, rear locking diff, skid plates, billsteins, and all terrains. If anything, Toyota is the one slapping meaningless stickers on…they have not one, not two, but THREE “TRD” badged trims
This truck isn't a direct competitor for the TRD PRO or ZR2, the PRO4X is Nissan off road package, same as TRD Off-Road, ZR1, FX-4 ...... Nissan doesn't have a more hardcore off road trim like others do yet, In the future we may see a NISMO PRO4X that would line up to the TRD PRO, ZR2 and Tremor but as of now Nissan is not offering one.
I think you guys should also do pieces on supercars a bit more than you do, strike a balance b/w budget and supercars. That would your USP. Throttle houses focuses often more on expensive cars than budget normal cars.
Its an awesome pickup and i have had them all praise GOD. Fit the titan engine in this and give it a 3 inch lift and 34s and this would the the ultimate pick on the planet. And I would put that above my manual gladiator Rubicon.

Great video, but the last generation of Frontier was from 2005 to 2020. Still a long time without an upgrade.
Maybe. But that’s part of the reason the Frontier-was a bargain price wise. Let’s face it, at even money most would buy the Tacoma. But the Frontier was the better value, if not necessarily the better truck
I love how when talking about the buttons in the truck, they hit every single one like a little kid lol
Why are trucks getting so popular these day ?? So sick 🔥
I saw one pull up next to a Tacoma, they look nearly identical to me. Looks a lot cooler than the previous generation though.
I’ll take my paid off low mileage previous generation any day
Cheers
They did well with the info screen size and hard buttons, props! Too many vehicles with obnoxious and distracting touch screens which end up being a safety issue on the road. Price tag on this is still too much, and boy did it look like it was going to roll over in that first turn. Ranger may not yet be updated as nicely but performance-wise I stick with it over this 100%
Ranger Tremor is still more expensive than this with less features and less power and less tow capability pound for pound. Turbo charged engines are way less reliable.
Love, Love, Love !!
Wait what? Nissan didn't run the same platform from 97 until now. It was changed in 2005 to the titan platform which is a 1/2 ton truck frame.
I can't get over the price of these in the states, it's just too damn high.
It’s about the same as the Tacoma’s or really any other mid size truck. The price of cars overall is just high, both used and new
The Frontier platform didn’t run from 97 until 2021.
Great Video!
Hey, please do a review on the Pathfinder and Infiniti Qx60!
Thumbs up if you're part of the Frontier family and proud of it!
If these trucks prove to be reliable over the next few years then maybe I’ll buy one.
That's an area Nissan has to prove itself. Is not anywhere near a Toyota truck
@@gamatoutsikos The frontiers are pretty reliable. Did you see the guy with a million+ mile truck? I can’t say they’re all like that but I don’t think they’re any less reliable than the current gen Tacoma
@@4477superman no I think you cant go wrong with either
+ I love the chemistry between you guys . Love the show!
GOOD REVIEW & GREAT TRUCK.
Was born 5 years after 1997 :) love the vids guys
and for context i'm a sophomore in college just to make people feel old
Truck from Japan, hosts from Canada, America hat from... China? International episode!
Nice Mountain Dew product placement there ( was going to say stealth but that would be pushing it )
I own a 2017 Ridgeline RTL-E and looking to switch some time soon.
Nice job guys great job and I have a Video Suggestion. You should do a video on a Maserati GranTurismo if you can and always great job boys!
Interesting- glad they updated but there is a lot of shared design language between this and the 3rd gen Tacoma
That’s a good looking Nissan Tacoma.
Is jacob a watch guy? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him wear a seiko skx on many videos and in this one I see him wearing a date just watch not sure if Tudor,Rolex or any other brand with that specific style
I think he is
Looks good! Does anyone know if Nissan has a reliable reputation? I'm looking into trucks and suvs since I'm getting into construction.
Generally speaking, the Frontier was very reliable. There was a 4 cylinder 5MT model that hit 1,000,000 miles recently
Subaru should name their wrx colors after monster drinks and vape flavors
Check engine orange OR check oil level red, sums up Subaru
when you say you would hands down take the Nissan 2022 Frontier over a Ford Ranger, can you elaborate as to why?
As long as the radiator didn’t fail and make the transmission fluid a strawberry milkshake
Cheers
With this new Frontier and 400ZX, Nissan is finally getting their mojo back and building something interesting & good. Now if Nissan would offer the Cummings 2.8 Turbo Diesel in the Frontier, I’d trade in my new Tacoma.
Besides the camera quality I found it odd they didn't make the rear sliding window a powered sliding option, at least on mid/high Frontier trim levels.
My Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is also manual, so not too odd. Would say it's because it's removable but it has a heated grid you need to disconnect before removing anyways.
picked a new pro4x 2days ago and I’m very happy with it
Can’t wait to see the next Gen when I’m 42!
Dart capacity LMAO😂 awesome work guys.
@@jameshammons6043 Fancy rear bed decals & premium price should include the equipment to back it up, not just imply that it's all there.
No locking front differential on a Tacoma. Only the ZR2 and Rubicon have them in the midsize trucks.
Hi, when are you planning to review Toyota Corolla Cross. thanks
Interesting they updated a lot but didn’t go haptic just kept it useful and classic
New Frontier > Current Tacoma. Inb4 the Tacoma snobs show up.
Honda ridgeline > everything else. Here before Ridgeline haters show up.😁
tacoma fanboys are a breed that came out of nowhere over these last couple of years, but have quickly become annoying as fuck.
I think you guys should also do pieces on supercars a bit more than you do, strike a balance b/w budget and supercars. That would your USP. Throttle houses focuses often more on expensive cars than budget normal cars.
I like how Straight Pipes assumes all truck drivers are chain-smokers!! :) I mean, it's mostly true!
Thank you uchida-san, Mr. gupta for the nissan next
Its an awesome pickup and i have had them all praise GOD. Fit the titan engine in this and give it a 3 inch lift and 34s and this would the the ultimate pick on the planet. And I would put that above my manual gladiator Rubicon.
Here I was all excited thinking the Golf R review would be posted today. ☹️
This is better. Has a volume knob
