I love how explain each step. I'm just learning and you don't assume we already know the basics. Easy to understand! Thank you for sharing!

Great idea using cedar fence pickets. I’d change up the process, however.
Plane or sand your pickets first. Cut the width of slats on the table saw first, then set up a tall stop block on your mitre saw to the length of the slats and batch cut with clamps. Now you’re ready to pilot drill.

They do sell or you can make push sticks. Glad to see you still have all your fingers!

Just did two swivel rockers but I used PT 1x2's and applied my finish before assembly. Result was very nice. Toughest part was sorting thru the 1x2's at the store to get some nice pieces!

I am going to do a very similar job to my chaise lounge using 1x4 pt and Tek screws with a hex head. I could not quite see what what head you had but it looked like they sunk in flush. What screw did you use and where did you get it? I use pickets all the time as I make and sell birdhouses at our local county farmers market but I chose the pt because an 8' board is about the same price as a cedar 6' picket. Are we the last two old school guys that use a folding rule?

I agree using PT, my question on that cedar, its 3/8ths does it hold the weight? but great Idea, I have swivel rockers and I did not want to change the material, which cost a lot, and you need to sewing machine, and it will dry out again. love this idea

Great job Ward, what length self tappers did you use? I'll probably go stainless screws.

I have similar chairs with ripped fabric. I'm debating between your method and just replacing the fabric (another vid. shows how). But I'm wondering how yours have held up these last two years?

Invest in a Craftsman Bench Top Planer.
It’s worth your fingers or taking one to the face.

Self tapping screws aren't protected from rust. Your screws will rust immediately. You are very dangerous with your table saw I was gritting the entire time.

I agree totally was waiting for the board to kick back or his hand to slip when trimming the board on edge.

Same. I didn't like some of the table saw etiquette.

Absolutely...I'm not a wood worker by any means...but even I could see this guy was being very careless. The BIGGEST problem is unexperienced people will think this is OK. The project came out nice...just not the way to do it.

What screw would you use versus the self tapping to prevent rust? You didn't say
